America Produces Her First Movie, Hires BF
A lot of times when actors think they've gotten pretty famous, they'll try to go back to their roots and do some "indie flicks".
And that's sort of the case with America Ferrera.
The star of Ugly Betty is set to perform in an Iraq War-related drama that's set to start filming in New Mexico this coming February.
Cuz that sounds like a lot of fun! It has romantic comedy written all over it!
Tentatively, the project is called American Tragic.
It's a story that will follow a young soldier who "has trouble readjusting when he returns to his small hometown."
The soldier then leaves his wife (played by Ferrera), his mother and sister, and decides to search for redemption by traveling all over the country.
But what makes this story a lot more interesting is that Ferrera is also going to be the executive producer of the flick.
And, even more interesting, America's long-time boyfriend, aspiring director Ryan Piers Williams, wrote and will direct the project.
With Ferrera exec producing and acting in the film and with her boyfriend directing it all, this could be a BIG disaster.
We'll have to wait and see!

or it could be great. trying being positive for once. and why does she have to do a fun romantic comedy anyway? just because she is on a television comedy??? actors are supposed to have range, and not be pigeon-holed. good for her for trying to do a film with substance and meaning.

All executive producer means is that they make sure the work is be carried out the way they want it business wise. That's all. It's really whoever funds the most money to a project.
That movie has already been made…get a new idea.

I really wished I could like her. She looks great, happy she's healthy, in love and doing well, but her BS about the Sisterhood 2 movie really turned me off.
