Rourke's Half-Assed Apology

As we mentioned yesterday, Mickey Rourke has a case of the Isaiah Washington syndrome.
On Sunday night, Rourke was heading to a Los Angeles night club with his beard lady friend, and no, it wasn't Evan Rachel Wood. No one really wants to be seen with her in public!
When a paparazzo asked Rourke about the reports of him being with Evan Rachel Whore, the "actor" got a bit defensive. He yelled out, "Tell that faggot who wrote all that shit in the paper I'd like to break his fucking legs."
But now the hate speech-spewing wacktor is backpedaling.
In a new statement, Rourke now says, "I want to sincerely apologize for the derogatory word I used. It was insensitive and inappropriate of me and I am deeply sorry that I may have offended anyone." Somehow we don't think that's very sincere.
As for Wood, she'll jump at any opportunity to get press for herself.
She said at an event yesterday that, "Everybody thinks we're dating and we're not. Mickey and I bonded while shooting The Wrestler and we became friends, but nothing more."
Someone should tell her to stop speaking to the media!
As for Rourke, he's gotten in trouble in the past for using hate words. Back in 2006 he called a drunken fan a Fag as well and almost got into a fight with him.
And in an interview after the incident back then he said, "Look, I'm not afraid to say the word fag. I've got plenty of gay friends. We toss the word around."

Re: peacelove87 – Perhaps people do throw it around casually. It doesn't mean that it is right. The word is very offensive to some, to others, not so much. Kinda like the "other words" Mario talks about above.
The bottom line is, who the fuck are you to say what should or should not be offensive to another person?

While I understand it's a horrible word to say, I think sometimes things slip out in the heat of the moment. It's unfortunate, but it is a word commonly used as an insult in our society, and sometimes even people who are not homophobic will let it slip out when they're angry. It's not because they're homophobic, it's just because it's an insult they've heard a lot and they're pissed off.
That's not to say it should be excused, but as a pansexual person, I think we need to focus on slightly more important things than being called a mean name.

Perez, Mickey Rourke is campaigning for AN OSCAR for that movie The wrestler, that's why he's apologizing, to NOT ruin his Oscar nomination chances (there's some buzz already) but he's a bigot and using the F-word is just as bad as using the N-word, people need to STOP using these derrogatory words, it's offensive, and I hope the academy realizes that a hateful bigot like Rourke shouldn't get any recognition.

when I was in jr high, fag meant an uncool person, a nerd. It did not mean a gay person. in the world today, it sometimes is hard to be politically correct. you grow up with something, try hard not to say it, but it comes out when angry, alcohol, drugs are involved. He apologized, it is not up to others to try to determine if it was a sincere apology. he seems to be in more trouble for saying something than the normal fights he gets into. also, I believe all the white people out there need to start forming groups and denounce words that are thrust upon us. perez is quick to post things like this but has no problem saying things about mormons and calling underage girls sluts.
