Well, they should make their CARD more ACCEPTED. You can not use it EVERYWHERE in the WORLD. VISA card has much more ACCEPTANCE around EUROPE for instance!

I will be severely pissed off if any company gets bailed out. I totally disagreed with the bank bailout, but it was necessary due to their being FDIC insured. We live in a capitalistic society. The government isn't made of money because I'M not made of money. It's dog eat dog. As sad as it is that companies are failing, that's what a credit card company gets for enticing people in to large amounts of debt. They gave the nation the noose to hang themselves. Looks like karma bit back.

This is FREAKIN INSANE…The world will continue to spin should American Express, an absolutely vile company at any rate, go out of business…Why the Fuck are we, hard-working citizens, footing the bill to American Express and its stuffed shirt executives in business? I know if I am unable to pay my bills, there's no way in hell the government is going to give me a loan to help defray the cost of my expenses….This is pure Insanity and I'm afraid the new administration is going to do the same as the current one, i.e., bail out bungling, retarded conglomerates like American Express.

American Express SUCKS. They are the only credit card company that will not participate in debt repayment plans which is something people enter through CCCS in order to keep from declaring bankruptcy, which leaves everyone with less money, including the creditors. AMEX can suck it. I hate them. Every year they raise the cost of flights under Skymiles. I've spent probably $20k on their card and i still only have enough miles for two tickets to Paducah.
and the reason the AMEX card is not accepted everywhere is because they have the highest cost to retailers. Visa and MC and everyone else doesn't charge them as much to let their customers use their cards in retail establishments whereas AMEX charges out the ass.
It's the same in this country,too; the gov't bailing out financial institutions due to the collapsing economy…but now the failing auto sector wants a hand-out,too…..where does it end? Once you start handing out to one group they'll all start demanding it.It's sort of like blackmail; once you start giving in to demands they keep increasing and never stop.It should have had an end put to it before it even started.How's to say which group is more "deserving?"

It was enough with the original bailout package, which doesn't seem to be doing much of anything except encouraging more companies to put their hand out for the money flowing from the government.
yeah i haven't used my amex card in months… they sent me some letter a fews days go saying that interest and all this stuff was going up but i don't owe them money or anything so this won't effect me…
Re: Muffin Ass – I totally AGREE they suck; I had a Gold Card with unlimited spending for YEARS and always paid my bill in full at the end of the month but when our house burnt down and I had to charge more than the monthly usual they REFUSED to put it thru; even talking to the manager.Their excuse? "You don't NORMALLY spend 20 thousand a month!" and I replied "Well, my house doesn't normally have a FIRE,either!" we had to replace *everything* and they were so callous. I cancelled my card and went to MasterCard who not only gave me an account, but upped my limit right away….and all over the phone,too.AMEX deserves to go bankrupt as far as I'm concerned. Good riddance,and I have heard similar horror stories about them from other people too so it's not just me!

i work for amex and i absolutely agree that the US government has no business bailling amex out. they're doing fine. the collections dept is totally gung ho right now. amex deserves to go down in flames. the climate of our work enviornment totally sucks. all the managers are in fear for their jobs and the push their fear down on us. it's miserable. i've never been with a company that has such low morale. one year we get nothing for the holiday bonus and then we hear that the president of amex got himself a 3 million dollar bonus. needless to say,that made us quite resentful. i have no pride that i work for that stupid credit card company. it sucks ass.

This is wrong!! The company allowed those to overspend and continue to use their cards to purchase everything they wanted. NOW, THEY can't collect their money, so those "who have money" must bail them out. Yes - when is this going to stop?!!

You're all a bunch of hypocrites! The credit card companies (although not good for the most part) help bail YOU out when you don't have cash for essentials. If enough of you are in debt, I'm sure a lot of it is credit card debt but you should be grateful that they had your back when doing your groceries a few weeks back when you might not have had CASH!

This is beyond wrong - companies like Amex throw credit at anyone who will take it and then want to cry poor when they have a downturn? When these financial companies were raking in billions of dollars in profit did any one of them offer to give something back to the public?? So why should they be bailed out now??? The world is going to hell in a handbasket.
ACTUALLUY, this is a fund set-up by the government and is available for all financial and lending institutions that qualify (3.5BB for each institution). It is basically a remediation for all of the charge-offs that banks are experiencing during this financial crisis. So unless you want these corporations to go belly up so that there is no credit available to consumers, then I suggest you either shut up or do your homework before you bitch.
How many companies can we bail out? BAIL me out!!! It is the small business owners that will suffer. I want $75 billion! No, I'll just ask for $1 billion, that will go a long way…
