During these troubling times, people turn to things that are tried and true!

As we previously mentioned, sales at McDonald's stores wordlwide rose by 8.2% in October.

And, now, Walmart has revealed that their profit rose 10 percent in the 3rd quarter.

Expect similar retailers to flourish while high ticket items (homes, cars) continue to suffer.

      I was at Wally World just last night! Milk, paper towels and Diet Coke at 11:00 at night…..I LOVE it!! Our Target stores aren't open 24 hours a day here :(

      This is because the average person can no longer shop at the store of their choice, for groceries or clothing–etc. They are forced to shop at huge stores like Walmart, even though they'd rather shop at Kroger, Whole Foods & other finer stores. People are just flat-out broke and Walmart will see more success during these hard times. Sad.

      I don't know if it's tried and true as much as it is cheap and convenient. People can save a few dimes at McDonalds and Wal Mart…plus they are EVERYWHERE so they save gas getting there, too. Wal Mart also has supercenters…you can get your groceries and household supplies and even clothes and furniture there…making it a one-stop-shop for many families who need to pinch their pennies right now.

      LOL sorry guys, I shop at walmart, I have a job that helps me provide for my 2 kids. I wasnt raised on name brand, my kids wont either. Though if you can afford it more power to ya!!! Im jealous lol

      Not only do they screw their employees. Many times they will sell the same items as an independent store at 1/2 the price only to stop carrying most of the items once the independent closes its doors leaving the consumer out of luck. They will also then raise prices on what they do continue to carry.

      When I worked at Wally World I would often show up for my Friday night shift at 8pm only to be told not to punch in until after midnight. The reason they gave was the weeks projected proffit was not where it should be and after midnight a new week started.

      I ALWAYS BUY ALL MY TOILETRIES (EXCEPT OF COURSE MY DERMATOLOGICAL SKIN CARE PRODUCTS) AND ALL MY HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS FROM WALMART..THE PRICE IS ALWAYS CHEAPER THERE BY FAR !!       As a college student who has a limited amount of money, I love Wal-Mart… even If I wasn't broke all the time, I'd shop there, I'm not going to waste money just because I can.

      Everybody gives Walmart a bad time but it employs more of my immediate neighbors than do other stores and they are open 24 hours. This doesn't mean much to the average person but if you work nights or some other non-standard shift, you come to REALLY appreciate a 24-hour store.
      I'm not sure why some people are finding so much Chinese goods at their local Walmart? You may want to write the manager and complain.

      PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT WALMART. Everything from Walmart is made in China. Buy locally made goods and products. It is cheaper than devaluing the dollar to nothing and being China's b*tch. Use your money as power and buy from companies that support American workers, the environment, and your health.

      I NEVER go to Walmart. I buy wonderful quality items secondhand. I own the best clothing out of everyone I know. I own items that are sold at Nordstroms and Sacks. I have better furniture than all of my friends and coworkers. I have durable heavy leather sofas. I bought all of these things for the price of cheap CRAP from Walmart if I had bought it there new.

      I shop at thrift shops, antique stores, Craigslist, and ebay. I do occasionally buy something new and I make sure it is made in the US or at least not made in China.

      My family just gets by and we spend less without going to Walmart. I don't understand the logic when people say they stretch their dollar… On what? Cheap picture frames? Lava lamps? Plastic toys laced with lead? Sam's Club crackers and Ramen noodles?

      There is nothing that I need at Walmart so I would be WASTING money to go there. For the quality of what you are buying it is not a deal at all. I eat organic foods and cook at home so buying my groceries there is not an option either. Since I don't go out to eat I spend less and can continue to shop at Trader Joes.
