China Outlaws Lip-Syncing

After it was revealed that little Lin Miaoke - who "sang" at the Olympics Opening Ceremony this year in China - was actually lip-syncing, the Chinese Ministry of Culture has promised to strike out at performers who "fake it," insisting that artists must not "use pre-recorded songs or music to replace live singing or instrument playing" to "cheat the public."
Repeat offenders could lose their licenses to perform and be subjected to public shame.
Guess Ashlee Simpson won't be performing in China any time soon!
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon actress Zhang Ziyi was recently criticized for lip-syncing her performance of Fairy Scattering Flowers at the CCTV's broadcast of the annual Spring Festival.
We know a few American performers who would have had their licenses revoked long ago!
