Huge Fires in Santa Barbara/Montecito

The destruction is said to be massive.
Dozens of homes burned down already!
Firefighters are doing their best to try and contain the fires but not accomplishing much. The wind is blowing and gusts to 50 mph are in the forecast.
Many residents have been told to evacuate.
Oprah's home is in danger.
Our thoughts with everyone in the area.

Seriously, this is ridiculous!!! First the Gap Fire. AND NOW THE "T" FIRE! I live in SB and its not looking good at all. I swear!! It's probably the fucking STONER who get high in the mountain area.

I got clearance from KEYT, Santa Barbara's only news station, to go up and photograph the fires. I was literally two feet away, and was rained on by embers. They said that more than 100 homes have been damaged. When I was out there, there were huge booms of the houses falling down and cars exploding. It was the most terrifying experience of my life.

This has been a terrible year for natural disasters in the US. From the devestating tornadoes and floods that hit Iowa, to the devistation in Galveston,TX. Americans have been through alot this year. Still in Iowa there are several thousand people raising their families in their cars and winter is fast approaching. Schools are held in malls here, we lost them too. In Galveston, TX, so many have lost everything also. There are still 150 people missing from Hurricane Ike. Now these wild fires are back… sheesh whats next, a tsunami off the Oregon coast?? We need to be prepared for "09, these disasters keep getting worse. I send my prayers to these families across America. Stay strong! We are with you.

Our family narrowly missed the California wildfires ourselves last year; they broke out mere days after we'd left our holiday there. it's a scary thing!! My thoughts and prayers are with the people.
Yup I live in Santa Barbara and we can see the fire burning on the hills south east of the ocean. Its really scary. The power went out yesterday on State Street and all around the Santa Barbara City College area. Students were all scrambling around outside houses wondering what to do walking across Cliff Drive to friends houses to see if they have power but no one did. Candles were all we had.
So far only the multi million dollar houses are in danger and have been burning down.
Oprah's house is not in danger anymore, the fire decided to let her house live and kindly passed by without egniting.
Someone needs to do a rain dance out here……… NOW!
