    beautiful

  3. 3

    They're good…but boooring….

  4. 4

They'd better be careful. Tori Amos is an insane freak. She stops concerts in the middle of a song to yell at people for talking.

    33

The best you tube vid of this is when tori shows up at a performance of the kids and cry's during the song. And she then sings with them and teaches them a new song. This is a lovely lovely person.

  34. 34

Please continue to fund arts education in public schools.

  35. 35

    fantastic =)

  36. 36

I remember when Perez first posted about this teacher. I am a teacher and a Toriphile, so I had to email him. He was so cute and sincere and obviously Tori-obsessed. He went bananas in front of her in the aforementioned video. It's all about doing what you love and this guy has taken that life lesson to the extreme. If you like this vid, google his school name and you'll find his YouTube page and homepage. There are so many great videos to watch. And somehow this guy gets almost all his kids every year to make those "I am really felling this" faces.

  37. 37

    I agree about the chills.
I want to marry the choir director

  38. Suze says – reply to this

    38

Very pretty. This choral director does a great job with these kids.

  39. 39

those kids are awesome! they are so lucky to have a teacher like him…he looks like the kind that can change lives and motivate and bring passion:) so cool:) i am about to have my first child in a few months and that was so heartwarming to see! :)

  40. 40

I was shocked to see this posted!!! This is at my aunt's school in Staten Island, NY. I've seen them sing at their Holiday Concert and during practices– the kids are absolutely amazing and give me the chills EVERY TIME I hear them sing. The teacher (Gregg) is amazing too- he loves the kids and is so unbelievably passionate about what he does. Good job you guys!!!

  41. 41

    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
LOVED IT! PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW WE CAN SEE THEM SING LIVE IN NYC!!!!

  42. 42

Thanks so much for posting this! Those kids are amazing!

  43. 43

Babies singing Tori… thats pretty awesome!

  44. 44

    PART ONE:
God I fucking hate this guy. Everything about what he does with these children is SO wrong, and everyone who witnesses it is blinded by the charming elements of the whole thing; they don't see what's really going on. This queen is an OBSESSED Tori Amos fan, and he knows full well that he will never, EVER become famous himself, so he uses these kids as an avenue to get exposure and attention.

And the kids themselves have absolutely no legitimate attachment to the material they are forced to sing. Look at that sad Christina Aguilera diva wanna-be singing lead vocals on this; when she's singing "Over Silbury Hill, through the solar field…" does that kid have ANY fucking idea what the lyric means? And this is one of the times when the guy hasn't changed the lyrics entirely to try and make them more kid-friendly.

  45. 45

    PART TWO:
Now I'm no prude, but I also wonder how the parents of these kids would feel if someone really told them all about Tori Amos and her belief systems; like her experimentation with hallucinogenic drugs (and how she encourages others to use them,) or her frank discussions of sex and religion. I would bet you everything I own that no less than 50% of the parents involved would pull their students out of the program if they were informed about the ideals and belief systems of the woman who this teacher so desperately worships, and encourages these children to worship as well.

The bottom line: this manipulative man is utilizing his program for all of the wrong reasons, and the children are delivering passionless, bland and uninformed renditions of songs that are so far above their heads, it's laughable.

  46. 46

Ohh my gosh they are adorable !!…
Way to go boys and girls !!!
this proofs why music and such programs is important in our schools

  47. 47

    OMG that was amazingly beautiful.

  48. 48

Awww! that was super sweet and super cute. Keep music in our schools

  49. 49

What a beautiful video. I am a music teacher and sometimes I get discouraged. This group sang with such sincerity. How sweet.

Re: ohforealtho? – I get what you're saying, but I think maybe you're getting a bit too heated about nothing. There are plenty of songs that are sung by school children that are written by artists with questionable backgrounds. Yes, this director is a Tori Amos super-fan, but he's giving these children such a huge gift. He's giving them an appreciation of music, he's giving them self esteem and he's giving them an opportunity to explore their creative side. These things are priceless to a developing child…and they're far more important than the history of the artist who penned a song. 1,000 Oceans is a song about love and loss I believe. A bit heady for a kid….but no more so than the Star Spangled Banner.

  52. 52

Totally had tears in my eyes - such beautful singers. I love the emotion they all poured into it. KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE PEOPLE!! Math and science aren't always the best for our children.

  53. 53

    Re: ohforealtho? – lol noob

  54. 54

    AWESOME
It be so cool if Tori Amos got in contact with them and recoded a song using these kids as backup they are fantastic!

  55. 55

This makes me so proud to be a NewYORKER…this is the future of america. The song was beautiful! Theres a lot to be said when so many different races, religions, and genders can be together in one place and create such a beautiful song! Children dont see any of those things they just see their friends! We should learn from there example!

  56. 56

    Fucking amazing!

  57. 57

OMG….this make me cry….and now my eyeliner is running…….

  58. 58

Re: ohforealtho? – you must be deaf to not hear the attachment these kids have to the song….they are totally into it….

    stop hating you bitter fuck

  59. 59

Re: ohforealtho? – you are laughable….what good have you done in this world?????

besides making rude postings about little children…..and Tori Amos is a great role model…aspecially for kids in music school.

  60. 60

I love that the kids are so into it! Their instructor really goes above and beyond!

  61. 61

Re: ohforealtho? – could be worse. wagner was an open anti-semite, and people still play his music. i think in the end, people are drawn to music, and not the "belief systems" of the person who wrote it. and that instructor has instilled in those kids a love of pretty music which just happens to come from tori amos.

  62. 62

I wish my music teachers had looked like those two. The little girl in the very beginning, wearing the fingerless gloves is such a diva. You go girl!

    It was very cute.

  63. 63

Re: ohforealtho? – You need to relax, dude. It's just a fricken song they're singing, nothing else. When you were a little kid forced to recite the National Anthem and sing the Star Spangled Banner did you have any idea what you were saying? Yeah, I didn't think so. They're just kids singing, gaining confidence and having fun. You're reading waaaaaay too much into this .

  64. 64

Re: ohforealtho? – And Puff the Magic Dragon is about smoking pot, right?

I'll bet you were one of those, tattle-tale mean kids that was no fun to play with, and still are.

  65. 65

    Absolutly beautiful~

  66. 66

    Loved it!

  67. 67

Wow, they kids are awesome! Just more proof that we need to keep funding music in schools!

  68. 68

    absolutely beautiful…

    very good :)

  70. 70

    Re: ohforealtho?

You sound like a pseudo-intellectual who is pissed off that these kids have much more of a grasp of Tori's songs than you do.

  71. 71

I've seen these kids before and they are unbelievably talented. theres a GREAT video of them doing viva la vida on youtube. its really hard sometimes to get kids and even older people to really put theyre heart into singing and performing and these kids are really passionate about this

    72

I don't even know that song but it was so beautiful.

  73. 73

Re: Parramore – Last time I checked, Tori was expelled from music school for refusing to follow the rules. So to call her a good role model to music school students is kind of hilarious.

  74. 74

Re: Lola La Pistola – I was actually a huge nerd and loner who everyone made fun of and treated like crap. Oh, and also a flaming homosexual, not that anyone could put a label on it when I was that young. (At least not out loud.) But your presumptions outline your true nature…

  75. 75

Re: DanielDax – Last I heard, just taking THIS song into account, Tori said that she was visited by the ghost of an African woman who sang the song to her, and she decided to record it and put it on her album.

The possibility that kids this young can really comprehend the deepness of the song "1,000 Oceans," which is about not allowing one's selfishness to prevent a lover from setting off for their destiny, is just silly. What this man does is he strips Amos' deep, emotive songs down to chorale crap, and these kids sing them as if they were "Old MacDonald."

  76. 76

these kids are AMAZING…and that little girl really has a set of lungs! CHILLS!!!!!!

  77. 77

    Re: ohforealtho?

"The possibility that kids this young can really comprehend the deepness of the song "1,000 Oceans," which is about not allowing one's selfishness to prevent a lover from setting off for their destiny, is just silly."

What's silly are your comments that you make after viewing a few 3-4 minute clips. Do you not think these kids aren't able to at least comprehend some of the lyrics because you had a childhood where everything to you was taken at face value? Were you there when this music teacher explained the lyrics to the children, or are you just assuming they're robots just singing whatever he tells them to sing? I don't think you're giving these kids or the music teacher enough credit. Music/lyrics are about interpretation. Just because Tori says it's about one thing, someone else may get a different message from it. And the lyrics to the song which you described really isn't that complicated. I'm pretty sure a lot of these kids don't understand the more simplistic lyrics to a lot of the hip-hop/R&B music that's out there. Be thankful that at least he's expanding their minds to different genres of music.

  78. 78

Re: ohforealtho? – she was expelled????? who the fuck cares….she is one of the most talented musicians on the planet and if this guy can transend ANY part of the genious to these kids than he has done his job….

you are just bitter…..take a valium or something….you act like he is abusing these kids or something….he is teaching them a song. GET OVER IT

  79. 79

Re: ohforealtho? – You have issues. Get a shrink and stop tying to ruin everyone else's fun just because you are unhappy.

  80. 80

Re: ohforealtho? – and if you knew anything about music or classical music…..you would know that hardly any of those composers of the past would be considered good role models…..musicians are crazy….doesn't make them bad people…..

    go get a life

  81. 81

    Go STATEN ISLAND! woo lol

  82. 82

Beautiful, I was thinking that Tori should start some kind of foundation for them. I love the vid of her actually watching them perform (maybe last year?) Its snowing in Michigan, just thought I'd bring you the breaking news.

  83. 83

wow, wow, wow! One of my favorite Tori songs EVER! Those kids are so damn cute and did an amazing job!

  84. 84
