This shouldn't have been decided in a vote by anyone. It should just be a right. If Mormons are allowed to practice their religion with all its traditions than what right do they have to deny others to do the same? I don't think it's all the Mormons fault by any means it took more than one religious group to pass this proposition but unfortunately they threw a lot of weight behind it so you get what you give right? So Mormons…suck it up. You voted to the extent of which is your right, and these people are backlashing to the extent of theirs. It's your own fault for denying them their rights.

ok perez, enough is enough - love ya , but really enough with it - to blame the Mormons is just ridiculous, people are smart enough and voted which way they wanted - and Prop 8 passed, enough that's it it's over - it won't be the last time a prop like this will come up again for vote - it's a set back that's all - California is not the only state that a Prop like this passed - Florida and other states also voted against gay marriage, personally I live in Florida and voted NO because I feel it does not matter what orientation you are, but I'm not sitting here blaming the Mormons or boycotting organizations because there views are different than mine - that's just arrogant!

That article was not the worst that Ive read. Infact, it makes me feel more sympatheic for the mormons. They were the last to speak out and join Yes Prop 8 groups. The other churches called on the mormons to join, most likely because the mormon members have the most money. The church is also more tolerant towards gay people and members over a lot of churches. One of the presidents of the church has a gay son, and he is head of gay culture at the University of Utah. The son is gay and is an active member of the church. Other churches protested Yes on 8 and made a few phone calls too, the mormon church is just a target because they happened to pay more money.
Bringing up South Park is so lame. South Park makes fun of EVERYONE and EVERY RELIGION. They make fun of gays all of the time on that show. South Park is not exactly a good source of factual information- but I can see how some idiots might think it factual.
And people need to stop bringing up polygamy and read the article that Perez posted. Polygamy hawas practiced in the mid-1800's when the mormons were being persecuted and their men were dying. Women would move into to other houses to get support (and only a certain few were allowed to practice). In 1904- POLYGAMY was BANNED in the mormon church, and anyone who practiced was excommunicated. Its been over 100 years since that practice was tolerable, so some people need to learn their facts.

I like how is seems that whatever group is not getting their way, they hate the groups that don't share in their same opinion. we each have a right to our opinion and we each have a right to a voice. not everyone is going to agree or like the others opinion. just because a group does not agree with whatever prop 8 is, doesn't mean they are not allowed to voice their opinion. Just because they don't agree with you doen't make them wrong. the direction i see this country moving towards (even though I don't like it, but have to accept) is we are many different cultures, religions, races, etc…. We are not going to agree on everything. but we can accept the other groups opinions, voice our own nicely and try to come up with a compromised agreement.
You know of course that sooner or later everyone will be allowed to marry. Why not just make it legal now instead of all the hassle, picketing, etc. that's going to continue? 50 years from now this will just be a part of embarrassing U.S., history like it was when black people were forced to sit in the back of the bus, and now when when gay citizens paying equal taxes like the rest of the populace were denied equal rights.
