Alicia To Tell All About Veganism

Former Clueless star, Alicia Silverstone, is adding author to her resume.

Rodale, Inc has just announced their plans to publish Silverstone's first book.

The topic? Vegan dieting, of course.

The book, appropriately titled The Kind Diet, is scheduled to be out Fall 2009.

According to reports, the book "explores the connection between what we put in our bodies and what we’re doing to the planet, and how choosing the right foods in the kitchen can help you feeling lighter, sexier, and more alive."

Sounds like a winner. Minus the whole not eating meat part.

Her book will also include a 3-step diet program, along with 75 vegan and macrobiotic recipes.

Vegans bother me. I dont think having a diet consisting of beans, rice and veggies is entirely healthy. No one has ever seen or heard of a vegan athelete. Why? Well because they lack a lot of protein and you cant get that shit from supplements. I think veganism and vegitarianism can be done in a healthy way if properly educated. And whoever is a vegan needs to set realistic goals for themselves. If you plan on running a marathon..dont plan on being vegan.

Organic free range meat products are mostly good. The animals were neither caged nor injected with any hormones. I dont think its right to mistreat animals at all. I think a lot of the things they do in middle american slaughterhouses is inhumane and extremely cruel. I do eat most meat, with the exception of pig and crab. I just like both animals. I do hate groups like PETA.

You shouldnt have to use fear to get people to follow you and thats just what peta does. PETA doesnt really even save animals. They send people in to film animals being slaughtered. Sick fucks. I am not sure where I am going with this, but I just dont like veganism and wouldnt raise a child to be vegan. And I think Alicia Silverstone does NOT look healthy in that pic.

    2. 102

Also, I saw a cow get milked before… the cow fucking liked it! They dont want to walk around with giant heavy jugs all day. The cow just walked into a room and was milked by a machine, then walked out. OOOO how cruel. Stupid. Dairy products are far more delicious then tree bark with curry. Vegan cupcakes are good though.

Thank you. Finally, someone in this forum with a mind.

WANT TO REDUCE THE RISK OF OSTEOPOROSIS? EAT LESS MEAT, CORNELL RESEARCHERS SAY.

In fact, they say, reducing the amount of meat in the diet may do more to reduce the risk of osteoporosis than increasing calcium intake. A series of studies from the Cornell-China-Oxford Project on Nutrition, Health and Environment, by nutritional biochemist T. Colin Campbell and his colleagues, conclude that reducing meat intake reduces the risk of losing bone density. Osteoporosis is a condition, usually associated with aging, in which bone density decreases, making people susceptible to breaks and fractures.

Whether dairy products offer protection from osteoporosis, however, is still undetermined, according to the researchers. If dairy products are consumed in a diet high in animal protein, any potential benefit for increased bone density would be undermined. That's because animal protein, including that from dairy products, may leach more calcium from the bones than is ingested, said Campbell, professor of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell and director of the Cornell-China-Oxford Project, the most comprehensive project on diet and disease ever conducted.

      I saw her eating meat

    7. 107

Re: TotoForever – Also a little information about the MYTH 'happy meat' and 'cage-free,' 'organic' animals:

In order to maintain uninterrupted milk production, cows are forced year after year to go through an endless cycle of pregancy and birth, only to have their calves immediately taken from them. Cows and calves cry out for each other as they are separated.

All forms of dairy farming involve forcibly impregnating cows. This involves a person inserting his arm far into the cow’s rectum in order to position the uterus, and then forcing an instrument into her vagina. The restraining apparatus used is commonly called a “rape rack.”

Half of all calves born are male. Of no use in milk production, they are sent to veal-producing operations or directly to auctions where they are sold and slaughtered when they are just a few days old. Male calves used for veal production suffer a crude castration process and are killed after 4 months spent in small crates or pens.

After just 4 to 6 years, dairy cows are “spent” from being forced to continuously produce milk. Often weak and ill, they endure transport to auction and slaughter, both of which are traumatic for these gentle animals. If allowed to exist free of exploitation and slaughter, cows can live 25 years or more.

My gawd she looks like shit! Put a lil effort into your appearance! wtf happened to her shirt? lol nice! Seriously tho go ahead and be vegan, gay, whatever but please don't push it in my face or anyone else's cause I don't care and I don't wanna think about it, well gotta run and go get my nice tasty steak off the grill ;p

    9. 109

So I'm guessing there is a connection between eating meat and having thicker, stronger hair. Will I get that sickly look about me too? I'm in!

    10. 110

Re: Rchl666 – That last line is classic! It could be said right before, "Screw you and your little dog too," from the second scene in Zoolander.

    11. 111

"Sounds like a winner. Minus the whole not eating meat part."

-SO, NOT SLAUGHTERING THE INNOCENT TO STUFF YOUR FACE IS THE OPPOSITE OF 'WINNER'?….SAYS THE FATTY.

      :SIGH:

    12. 112

Oh I also have a cousin that WAS vegan until they found him passed out in the middle of the road in winter almost dead, I doubt it's the cause but he now has diabetes so badly that he has to give himself injections, also a girl in my theatre class was vegan and she passed out so many times , we even had to call an ambulance once! I also lived w/ 2 girl's that were vegetarians, and I must say they did well, but ALL four of these people were VERY pale and sickly looking, I went vegetarian for a few months and got really slender, but I LOVES my red meat!!!!!! At any rate lets not bitch and argue about this, yes we all do agree she looks like shit! lol Being vegan, vegetarian, a meat eater what ever it is , is a person's choice and I can't speak for you guys but I'm certainly not going to get on them and hate them for it, there are so so many more important things in life than argueing, let alone over food!

    13. 113

      "Glowing"?
She looks like death warmed over!
Alicia needs some animal protein in a hurry or she is going to have all sorts of medical problems.
Look, unless you're from India — the one place on the planet that has at least some semblance of a tradition of vegetarianism — your body has evolved in societies where eating meat and dairy products was common. It's in our DNA.
To suddenly deprive yourself of animal protein can do you harm…and Silverstone looks like she's already been harmed.

    14. 114

She DOES look like one: UNHEALTHY!

    15. 115

Re: TotoForever – let's hook up some mechanical milkers to your nipples 24 hours and day, 7 days a week and see how much you like it when your nipples start bleeding and pussing.

you obviously saw a cow being happily milked on a farm.

    16. 116

by the way, i'm not a vegan or even a vegetarian, it just pisses me off when people say that "vegans bother me", it's so close minded. think of someone else's side of the story.

    17. 117

Re: Monrow – finally someone posted the truth, and exactly what I was thinking!
Fatso-mario just posted the worst pic of Alicia that he could find obviosly because he is a hypocritical looooooser. (with a huge anooooos I would bet on….)
Why be "anti-fur" and then hate on vegans? Alicia is gorgeous, inside and out, and

My god, I always thought she was so pretty…Re: LaurenAshley

That is if you look at evolution synchronically. If you look at it diachronically, you might come to the conclusion we are losing our carnivorous teeth and switching to an all herbivorous set of teeth. I would say the latter is the case, but that does not mean we should stop eating meat altogether. Chimpansees and humans have similar teeth, and they eat meat sporadically. They mostly get proteins from eating insects, because they know that eating meat every day would be completely unnecessary.

    26. 126

you all should thank about what you are eating and where it came from. i already know you blocked out the truth and made up good excuses why you all eat dead animals. do some research and find out that pig you eat is just as smart as the dog or cat you call family . its troubling to me how close minded and sterotypical you all are, you all kinda sound dumb.

    27. 127

she looks like she is terminally ill, someone feed that bitch a pork chop

I thought that being a vegan was supposed to make you feel and look healthy, right? Well, looks like this diet didn't do Alicia any favors. If she eats vegetables and ends up looking like THIS, I don't care how healthy they are, I prefer to eat meat.

    29. 129

What good does it do her? She still looks like shit!

    30. 130

I hope she and every other "vegan" fucking DIE! Along with the environmental nit wits….and FUCK California while I'm at it!

    31. 131

IF THAT'S WHAT A VEGAN LOOKS LIKE I WILL STICK WITH MY TASTY MEAT DIET!!!!

    32. 132

Re: xlbxxx – THEY ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH NOT TO GET EATEN! HAHAHAHAHA! YOU HAVE READ ANIMAL FARM WAY TO OFTEN!!!

    33. 133

That photo is excellent proof of the fact that humans are OMNIVORES, no matter how "mean" it is to eat the cute wittle animals.

    34. 134

Damn, she was once a beautiful girl and now looks like a pile of cow shit. Err, excuse me….tofu shit.

    35. 135

      glowing??? she looks fucking heinous.

    36. 136

Re: LettyB – so what you are saying is that animals aren't smart enough to fight its ok to kill them. so you are saying the Holocaust was justifiable because the Jews weren't smart enough not to be killed. and you are saying slavery was also ok because African Americans where stupid enough to get on the boat in the first place. you are a dummy. think about your words before you use them.

Cows are domesticated animals bred for the purpose of sustenance-
A cow ( as they exist today) do not appear in the wild and have no natural habitat

A cow simply put cannot live without man

Re: TotoForever – There are vegan athletes. Carl Lewis, an Olympic trackstar is a vegan.

    42. 142

There are a lot of vegan top athletes and bodybuilders. Go to www.veganbodybuilding.com

    43. 143

Being a vegan is not working for her, she looks too old for her age!!!

    44. 144

Watch a few PETA videos of downed cows and how they punch chickens in the head and you might have a second thought the next time you eat meat… just sayin' Perez.

    45. 145

since she started touting the vegan thing, she looks so unhealthy. she looks very sickly here.

    46. 146

OMG! She looks homeless! I'll never become vegan if it makes you look like that! No interested in buying her book. She should ask Linda Blair for some tips on being vegan and staying pretty.

she looks HORRIBLE.. Vegan dieting is unnatural, i dont care what they think.. since the beginning of time humans have eaten meat, OBVIOUSLY there is a reason for that..

ohh sure .. and she is the best spoke person just look at that healthy glow of her and he skin .. wow so flawless….
mann.. I hate begans… we are animals and we eat animals .. end of story.. thats life.. get over it

Re: Jenmo – Damn good point there.

    52. 152

Meat eaters annoy me because they're destroying the plante and contributing to world hunger and global woarming…. but some people just don't care what they're doing to their bodies or the planet.

    53. 153

      Re: meltz9111 – PETA= People Eating Tasty Animals.Re: yesitsme2 – Actually Ellen is a vegan now too.

    54. 154

Re: doenut – How many vegans do you know? I'm vegan and have been for six years and I'm healthy and a dancer which shows that I'm getting enough nutrients to replenish my body after a long long day in the studio, my brother and roommate are vegan as well and they do not look like that… That picture of her does look like shit but that has nothing to do with her being vegan just look at all the pictures of meat eaters who look like shit on an off day… do you blame that on them not being vegan?

    55. 155

Re: honestbeetch – You people don't know anything about what being vegan is about it's a lifestyle choice… it's taking into consideration what you're putting into your body and making intelligent choices about your meals and not just eating mock meats, if you followed a vegan diet or tried it for a while you would see that instead of assuming you know what you're talking about… and if you want to talk about food with crap in it you should probably research a little bit more what is in the shit you eat and how that effects your chances of getting cancer, heart disease, obesity, digestive problems, and numerous other thigns

    56. 156

Re: Jenmo – I'm pretty sure it would be easier to grow a garden than catch a wild animal.

    57. 157

Re: Evil Woman 2 – And protein is one of the easiest things to attain in a vegan diet as it can be found in beans, tofu, legumes, and various other foods that are a normal part of a vegan diet… vegans actually benefit from not getting excess protein because that's what causes heart disease…. you guys are all bashing on veganism but none of you have shown any indication that you've researched anything about a vegan or meat based diet… Also I'd like to throw in here that the average vegan lives 7 years longer than the average meat eater.

    58. 158

Re: whatisanangie – Honestly, I could go my whole life without eating meat and eggs again (though I do love seafood). And I have switched to soy milk, because guzzling milk that is meant for a baby cow makes me uncomfortable. But the one thing I don't want to be without is cheese. MMMM yummy, gooey cheesy goodness!! I have tried different vegan cheeses and they are just not even remotely tasty to me.

    59. 159

Re: AtomicKitty – you hate begans?

    60. 160

Looks like they found a particularly unflattering photo (combination of too much flashbulb, no makeup, bad hair day) of a lovely woman.

Non-vegans can be such haters. The reason? Most people love their dogs, but cruelly cage, slaughter and eat other mammals. They have to somehow rationalize their doting love of one species, and sadistic and inhumane treatment of others. They can live with this huge hypocracy it by just not thinking about it.

Instead, it's so much easier to demonize people who *do* think about the huge disconnect between how we treat pets and how we treat farm animals, like Ms. Silverstone, and live by their principles. Vegans are not wack jobs. Non-vegans who say they love animals are the ones who need to look within themselves and ask how can I continue to ignore the suffering?

    61. 161

Eat a fuckin cheeseburger. And maybe dont put out book on healthy eating when you yourself look like death. Does anyone still care about this clueless bitch anyway??

    62. 162

Good lord, if that's what being a vegan makes you look like, someone hand me a cow right now!!!

She used to be so cute. Now, she looks like a dishrag. Oh well, another has-been.

    63. 163

Shit … what happened to her?

    64. 164

wow..she is not aging well….still pretty though

    65. 165

Wow, she looks really bad…. She used to be such a cute girl…. but, yeah, she needs some vitamins if she isn't going to be a meat eater.

    66. 166

      ok first of all.
why would i wanna take advice from a girl who looks like she does in that pic.

      second of all.
im soooooooo fucking tired of vegans, vegatarians, and PETA freaks.

      people need meat.
      people like meat.
the animals are gonna die anyways.
might as well make use of something that happens to everything thats ever been alive.

no ones harassing them cuz they only eat plants.
so i shouldnt be harassed cuz i eat meat.

besides. half of the plants they eat prolly have pesticides on them so they arent more better for the earth then meat. theyre equal.
thats why you buy both organic meat and plants.

    67. 167

Yeah, let's forget about hundreds of thousands of years of evolution that created the omnivorous human digestive system. While we're at it, let's put lions, tigers, wolves, and sharks on vegan diets. After all, it will be better for the planet!
You go get them sharks, Alicia!!

    68. 168

Andre 3000, Lenny Kravitz, Chris Martin, Kim Basinger, Pamela Anderson, Orlando Bloom, Paul McCartney, Pierce Brosnon, David Duchovny, Demi Moore, Natalie Portman, Liv Tyler, Daryl Hannah, Christina Applegate, and the list goes on and on and on.

They're all vegans or vegetarians, and they all look great. We can't base our opinions on veganism based on one picture of one person.

    69. 169

Ummm….I'm going to pass on the whole Vegan thing, mainly b/c I don't want to end up looking like her

    70. 170
