In his critique of Twilight, Roger Ebert gives the hotly-anticipated film just 2 and a half stars.

Variety also calls the film "disappointing."

And, the Associated Press doesn't like the movie either.

Bummer!

      The ones that didn't like the movie also didnt like the book, so that gives a clue of why they might not have liked the movie. We are not looking for Oscar winning acting. They only had a 37 million dollar budget. The next ones will hopefully have more of a budget and they will be able to make small changes.

      The Twilight fans have spoken and they all have loved the movie.

      I'm not surprised at all. I called this a long time ago. That the movie would get horrible reviews but would still be a hit just cause it has the name Twilight attached to it. The dialogue is horrible and the acting is atrocious. It'll still be big though. The sad thing is that it had so much potential to be something incredible. They just chose some horrible actors (hey kristen, alice, and jasper!), and some bad screenwriters. :'-(

      I'm sorry, but I don't give a shit what a bunch of middle-aged men think about Twilight. They have no appreciation for the hotness that is Robert when he is dressed up as Edward. For that alone, I will go see it. But I don't think it will suck. I'm too much of a fan!!

      I've seen the previews and they look terrible. Hottie Robert Pattinson is their saving grace. I think I could stare at this boy for 2 hours. The plot looked off and the casting for Jacob is TERRIBLE! Can you at least get a native American actor and not a tanned anglo boy? I'll probably see it anyway. Sigh

      Well, the book is always better than the movie! And for this movie, that's extremely the case. I have such low expectations for this movie, it's not even funny! but that hasn't stopped me from buying my ticket like 2 weeks ago and waiting 2 hours outside the theater tonight so I can get a good seat for the midnight showing!

      The only big problem I have with the movie is that from the look of the trailers, Kristen Stewart injects absolutely NO emotion into her lines. Other than that, I think it'll be a pretty good movie! Of course, I want them to have followed the book to the letter, but that never happens….

      I never trust movie reviews. It always seems movies they give bad reviews i seem to like. Maybe i just have bad taste in movies? Either way i'm for sure going to see it still. The books were amazing and even if the movie doesn't live up to it, it will still be cool to see it all come to life!

      hey perez!!! i watched the movie yesterday at a special screening. and i can see why they say it's bad… but i did like it nontheless. the thing is, everything happens so fast, for someone who's not read the book it might be too confusing. i think essentially they summarized it pretty well, keeping the most important parts essential to the rest.

      They just don't get it! The books aren't meant to be great literature and this movie isn't meant to bean oscar worthy film. This all is meant as well presented, interesting fun (which it is!) I think the thing I will dislike the most about the movie are the changes from the book. I've read Twilight 4 times and I going to be driven crazy every time they change something! BTW- I am not a teenage girl. Some grown-ups like this stuff, too, and I am in the know here.

      Let's be honest, though… Twilight wasn't made in an effort to win Oscars. Twilight was meant to entertain the millions of people who have read Twilight and love it or people who are entertained by teen romance movies. It's a movie about teen vampire love. What were the critics expecting?!?! I am not expecting any Oscar-worthy performances, but I don't think it's going to suck as much as the critics keep saying. Are they ever right, anyway!?!

      For me Ebert is usually dead on accurate with his reviews and honestly the previews look super cheesy I'm not all that convinced they picked the right actors for the film but we'll see.

      Ha, did you even read those reviews? One of them finds that the vampires being pale is a bad thing. Weird! The movie will probably be OK, not good (unless you're a fan girl) and not bad. They had a really low budget, and Hardwicke is one crazy bitch. I don't know why people even hire her. Seriously, bitch is crazy.

They didn't like Speed Racer and I thought it was a good children's movie, which was exactly what it was supposed to be.

      Someone should have done a YouTube take on "Vampires 90210" instead of the other day's "Star Trek 90210".
      Taking Anne Rice's cutting-edge theme of vampires with angst, and simply repackaging it for the 15-22 year old demographic, is an obvious manoeuvre by copy-cat novelist Stephenie Meyer to rekindle and capitalize on the money to be made by yet again selling the coolness of vampires to tweens.

I know he gave it a low score, but he went on to say, "The movie is lush and beautiful, and the actors are well-chosen." lush and beautiful work for me. There are a lost of good reviews too like Time and CNN which are both affiliated. it's not going to win oscars, no, but it was a good movie. i like the books, so maybe i'm bias, but i thought the movie was really good and i don't think fans will be dissapointed.

      Read Stephanie Meyer's book "THE HOST". Its for grownups. Twilight was written for the preteen and teen set and it shows when reading it. The Host was fantastic.

The book is just a bunch of fantasy and so simply written, my daughter 13, thought it was too simple, with none of the complexities of a well-written novel.
