"Werewolf" Boy May Have Found Treatment

11-year-old Pruthviraj Patil suffers from hypertrichosis, a rare genetic disorder that results in the growth of unusually thick hair all over the body, except for the palms and soles. The condition is often nicknamed the "werewolf syndrome," but the covering is hair, not fur.
A group of Colombian scientists, however, think they may have found a treatment in the form of testosterone injections. The research is headed by dermatologist Angela Christiano, who, ironically, stumbled upon the possible treatment conducting research on baldness.
She was also part of the research team who discovered the bald gene.
Although the longterm effects are yet unknown, they're hoping the treatment will help.
"Werewolf syndrome" affects less than 50 people in the whole world.

im colombian and the doctors there are nuts! it took colombian doctors ONE appointment to diagnose my cousin when it took american doctors 7 years just to figure out what was wrong….shows how hard the doctors work in the states?….hmmm

I just watched a show on TLC about this little boy and another little girl in Thailand that has the same disorder. So sad, I hope this treatment works for them!!
