The world is in such bad shape right now- war, poverty, etc. Instead of obsessing over what Paris Hilton is wearing we should help these countries whose citizens cannot get enough food into their bodies!
I suggest everyone take some time out tonight after you have been shocked by the photos to do some research on Haiti and how the US has been involved with their drowning economy. The government is not blameless. We need to watch those who "represent" us with a microscope because their actions affect the world. Please, be conscious of who you vote for and whether their actions help that little girl above or keep her down.

These children are probably from the slum Cite Soleil (the largest slum in the Americas), where there is no plumbing and no electricity. Gangs roam the streets and UN peacekeepers can barely get into the place to get kidnapped foreigners out. The average yearly wage is around $400 in Haiti, the poorest country north of the equator. Few, if any, people in Cite Soleil can read. People who have the ability to read can get a job there, that’s the only real requirement. Also, as for charities, when I took a class on Haiti, granted it was a 3 years back, we were told that we should think twice about giving to Haitian (within Haiti) charities because the money was not given to those in need. Haiti has almost no natural resources left (they turned all their trees into charcoal and the country is eroding away in to the sea). Haiti is in an impossibly sad situation and the US and French governments need to intervene!!

Perez, I give you credit for giving this attention but this has been going on for at least a year. When I lived in Florida, the Haitians I knew said the kids were eating dirt and the government was with holding food from children. This has been going on for a while.
I hate to say it but we need to be focusing on our own problems right now. Thanks to the crumbling economy there are a record number of American families that don't know how they'll get dinner on the table tonight.
My father works for DHL and was 5 years from retirement. Since they are ceasing all of their American operations as of January he will no longer have a job and the pension he works 32 years for no longer exists. Next year 3 out of the 5 children will be in college and one has a full ride but the others can't even get loans because of the credit crunch. I had to put my graduate studies on hold to work full time as a swimming instructor and waitress to help out. Jobs are being eliminated left and right its so unfair that things like this are happening to good people.

Well, if people stopped having so many babies, there would be more food and better health care. People need to stop having 3+ children. Especially in areas that can't afford or environmentally support having a larger population. Free vasectomies for men in these areas, who have 2 or more children. Eventually, it will catch on, and less children born means more medical attention for each one, and more food for each one. The solution is not to just throw food at these people, but to also teach them not to have more children then they can feed. This goes for EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.
Don't have babies if you can't support them. Don't bring in more children to spread out and cause more suffering. The more children, means more resources needed. How long do you think this planet can support an ever growing, grotesque amount of human beings? Not much longer, I can guarantee that.

I am tired of seeing families in thrid world countries having 7 kids, and ALL of them starving to death, meanwhile, if they only had 2, there would be much less of an issue. Use your brain. I have been to Haiti twice, and things there are BAD!!! The most important thing to do is create awareness, so many people have never even heard of Haiti, and it's so close. Thanks so much Perez!

Ok Perez you make good money step up if you want and fix the world. You are so incredible. But this is suppose to be an entertaining site. If I cared about that I would go somewhere else. The best solution is to put him down and move on. There are more then enough people in this world to make up for one skinny person.
it is not just haiti, it is all over the world. the developing nations are in shitty places and hundreds of people die weekly if not daily while developed countries like canada and the usa continue to spew billions of dollars into idiotic war games in iraq and afghanistan and bailing out banks with bloated ceo salaries. our priorities are screwed up, big time. shame on the governments. shame on them all.

Perez, I give you credit for giving this attention but this has been going on for at least a year. When I lived in Florida, the Haitians I knew said the kids were eating dirt and the government was with holding food from children. This has been going on for a while.

I hate to say it but we need to be focusing on our own problems right now. Thanks to the crumbling economy there are a record number of American families that don't know how they'll get dinner on the table tonight.
My father works for DHL and was 5 years from retirement. Since they are ceasing all of their American operations as of January he will no longer have a job and the pension he works 32 years for no longer exists. Next year 3 out of the 5 children will be in college and one has a full ride but the others can't even get loans because of the credit crunch. I had to put my graduate studies on hold to work full time as a swimming instructor and waitress to help out. Jobs are being eliminated left and right its so unfair that things like this are happening to good people.
WTF. That is bad. The parents seem alot more healthier though. Hmm.
gee…heres a great idea…along with the food and medical supplies..how about some condoms ??? why keep having kids if you know theres no food and there going to sometime soon die.it is very sad..but the us cant even help its own people why on earth would we help anyone else?? theres kids starving all over this country..start here.

Well, if people stopped having so many babies, there would be more food and better health care. People need to stop having 3+ children. Especially in areas that can't afford or environmentally support having a larger population. Free vasectomies for men in these areas, who have 2 or more children. Eventually, it will catch on, and less children born means more medical attention for each one, and more food for each one. The solution is not to just throw food at these people, but to also teach them not to have more children then they can feed. This goes for EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.
Don't have babies if you can't support them. Don't bring in more children to spread out and cause more suffering. The more children, means more resources needed. How long do you think this planet can support an ever growing, grotesque amount of human beings? Not much longer, I can guarantee that.

Jessica is somewhat right. I am tired of seeing families in thrid world countries having 7 kids, and ALL of them starving to death, meanwhile, if they only had 2, there would be much less of an issue. Use your brain. If a region can only support 500 people, and there are 1000, 70% being children who are going to die of starvation and gross lack of medical care, whose fault is it? Is it mine for only donating what I can, or the gross lack of birth control that can help ease the suffering of those who already here?
It seems you are the idiot for not even thinking about numbers and ratios. Less people means better care and more food for those already here. It is simple common sense. I am also tired of welfare rats, my sister-in-law included, who has 5 children by 3 different baby daddies, who is sucking up my hard earned tax dollars, and I refuse to have kids until I can afford to do so.
This is awful, its horrifying to think that this is happening right in our own backyard. It kind of makes you feel silly for complaining that we can't afford to take a vacation right now when children are starving to death in the Caribbean. As Americans we need to rethink our priorities.

i'm haitian, and i'm so glad more people know about what's going over there, it's a 4th world country and people don't know that because so many organizations focus on other countries. and i'm glad there's more organizations doing stuff for them out there.
