WASHINGTON—Members of Congress assured Americans that they have a definitive plan for reviving the slumping economy when they unveiled on Monday a bold new fiscal stimulus package that calls for the purchase of a pair of alpacas.
"We're confident that breeding alpacas will jump-start the economy and lift this nation out of debt once we get the start-up money," said McConnell, who insists the exotic livestock require very little maintenance and are of a gentler temperament than their cousin the llama. "Those other projects required too much overhead. With alpacas, it's just grass, and we already have the whole National Mall right across the street."
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Monday called the new plan "intriguing," but stressed that the nation's economic policy should continue to center around Sen. Robert Byrd's (D-WV) practice of selling soda and candy bars out of his office, which accounted for almost 30 percent of last year's gross domestic product.

It has nothing to do with Republicans — the tax cuts actually propelled us and made this mess a little more managable. Its the democratic senate and congress that got us where we are along with the morgage regulations put into place by Jimmy Cartere and then revamped by Sen. Frank and Sen. Dodd. Wall St. is forward thinking by about 6 to 9 months and we started to slide when it became evident Obama was cruising to the White House. Now that he is there we are finally taking a serious look at his economic plan and it is pro-government, anti-growth to say the least. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.

Re: Afed44 – Correct, Obama isn't president yet but the stockmarket is forward looking by about 9 months therefore taking into account the new policies. The market is now down 26% since Nov. 4, this is no coincidence. Much of this financial mess began with the democrats policy of forcing lenders to give sub-prime loans and now we all are paying the price. Obamas econominc plan does nothing to help us out of this crisis. ( oh, and i don't think your an asshole, i don't debate that way , you're just mis-informed )
Ummm JPMorganChase owns WaMu now……the cuts are from the restructuring of that company.
