The Professional Soccer Star That Quit…to Join The Priesthood!

This is quite an interesting story!
Illinois born and raised Chase Hilgenbrinck played soccer professionally in Chile for four years and earlier this years signed a deal to join MLS in America.
That's a goal many kids dream for, but life sometimes takes you on a different journey than the one you set out on.
Hilgenbrinck, 26, recently quit professional soccer to join a seminary.
He wants to be a priest!

I think he should try to play soccer in the US cause chilean soccer wont pay that much and mostly he played in a lower division (which don't get paid much at all)

That took a lot of guts for him to do this….good luck to him with his new calling!

Although it seems a little bit unusual to leave a soccer career for the priesthood, this man deserves as much support as we can give him. I hope and pray that he follows through, if that is his true calling, and commits himself to the service of God.
p.s. To any and all comments referencing inappropriate behavior with children: Yes, there were some priests that did very horrible things. That does not mean all priests have that desire, or that all priests would act in such a manner. A few bad men soiled the name of the priesthood. Keep in mind all of the good priests out there who spend their entire lives working to improve the lives of others and conducting worship. Thanks.
He's gay and just hasn't realized it - thus his reasoning to join the priesthood. How can you be that hot and not want any nanny?
I'm saddened and surprised by the comments here. This guy has ALWAYS been very public about his love for the Lord and his faith in Him. We finally get a DECENT, positive story here and you all find a way to dirty it. But it doesn't matter what you think! Because Chase is a great kid - i wish him many blessings in his Journey!

Re: FutureCougar – well don't forget priests and nuns also committed genocide with regard the native americans in both the usa and canada, not to mention to indigenous populations around the world all in the light of converting "savages" to the Lord's work. religion as a doctrine has always been harmful to society and is the cause of much "ism" in the world (i.e., sexism, racism, ableism, etc.) so it is hard to put something like this in a positive light, ya know?

he can't be gay if he is going to the priesthood. he is choosing a life without sexuality. if you don't understand someone else's calling that's fine neither do i but it doesn't mean he is trying to do something wrong, he's figured out what he wants and he's not afraid to try and get it. plus soccer players don't really make that much and mount saint mary's pays for everything for their sems!

I go to Mount St Mary's and all lot of the seminarians here are really hot. My friends and I always check them out in the cafeteria. We've seen Chase play, and he is super HOTT!!
