Twilight has clinched this weekend's #1 box office spot in Uh-me-ri-ca!
Friday's estimates of a $70 million debut turned out to be right on target.
Congrats to creator Stephanie Meyer and breakout star Robert Pattinson!
As we mentioned on Saturday, there's already a sequel in the works, which was announced this weekend.
Last weekend's big film, Quantum of Solace, came in at #2 this weekend. The 007 film made another $27 million. Its US 2 week total is an impressive $109 million. Not bad!
And, rounding out the top three is Disney's animated feature, Bolt.
The doggie-centric flick 'only' made the Mouse $27 million. A Disney movie not opening at one is not normal!

Personally I saw it twice… 10pm viewing THURSDAY NIGHT and then again the first viewing FRIDAY AFTERNOON!
Hated it the first time I saw it, I let it was a huge letdown
But then I liked it the second time I saw it.
The music was AWFUL in it!! It really brought the movie down.
I am sure disney knew that their animation film would not be #1 with twilight coming out-

and yes i read the book….but the movie was a HUGE disappointment…you're all just saying it was amazing because you're in love with Edward Cullen because of the book. The acting was pretty horrendous, and there were people laughing in the theater when the movie wasn't supposed to be funny…..and some of the people laughing were the teenage girls who are obsessed with the books! so yeah it sucked pretty hard. let's be honest.
Twilight… unfortunately. I thought it sucked. Hopefully now that they know this can be a money maker… they will put more money into the second one.

TOTALLY agree! The movie felt extremely rushed and so many scenes from the book were cut out. I hope they make New Moon longer and I hope that, with a bigger budget, they'll be able to use better equipment. There were times when I thought the cameraman was drunk, for real…

Twilight was amazing. The characters and the scenery. I liked SOME of the music. The baseball scene was great!
I think they did an amazing job, considering the budget. Now that they know how many fans they have, they should do a lot better on the next one. I can't wait to see it! And all you Twilight haterz, get used to the hype, because the hype has just begun.

I saw the movie and It was cr@ptacoulous!!! The only reason why it is a hit is because of the massive amount of horny females between the ages of 15-40 who the read book. They didn't even spend the money to edit out the contacts of edward. I mean really to say it is awesome is doing an injustice to people waiting in line to buy the ticket!!! it's a shame that there is going to be a sequel.

I didn't see anything. And so what it made 70 mil, that's not what Harry Potter makes, or the Bond movie and not even close to what Dark Knight made. I was expecting from all the hyp the movie would make alot more.
I saw Twilight as well as Saw 5.
I refuse to take my kids and nephews to see Bolt because Miley Cyrus is in it. She's not a good role model for kids at all. I mean she's 16 and dating a 20 year old. Where I come from that's call STATATORY RAPE!
Bolt will probably do better next weekend, since the Twilight crowd will have dispursed a little.
Considering the budget, I think they did a good job! I just wish Rob's acting would be better in the sequel. He was awkward in some parts. Kristen has to minimize her blinking. Otherwise, awesome movie! I've seen it twice and I'm watching it again.
