So imagine this:
You're sitting and eating lunch, minding your own business, when Rosie O'Donnell approaches you and tells you got a face that ought to be in pictures.
And so you go to the audition and guess what? You're actually cast!
That's exactly how 17-year-old Philip Johnson scored the lead role in the Lifetime network movie America.
The film is based on a young adult novel by E. R. Frank about a kid who slips through the cracks of the foster care system, and learns to cope with his demons with his therapist, played by O'Donnell.
RoRo said she found "a soulful kind of stillness" in Johnson.
Co-executive producer Larry Sanitsky said that even though Johnson has never acted before, he did "an absolutely fantastic job."

I love Rosie. She's so talented. I can't wait to see her new Rosie Live show this Wednesday night at 8 pm!!!
And for her to give this kid a break, well that's the kind of heart Rosie has. She's a very loving and giving person. Look at her Broadway kids charity and see all the good work she's done there.
Everybody who hates on her, get a grip. Rosie is an American jewel and I really hope her new Live show is picked up for a regular series next year!

haha im in this movie as an extra, and it was super cool shooting the movie, although rosie was NEVER on set. Philip was ok though, not particularly great.

1. She insulted Chinese people with the whole "ching-chong" bullshit.
2. She accused Kelly Ripa of being a homophobe because she objected to Clay Aiken putting his hands over her mouth in the middle of a sentence…
3. … which means that she also outted Clay Aiken.
4. She fueled the whole "Oprah is gay" rumor.
5. She gave away the ending of 'Fight Club' the day it came out and told everyone not to watch it because she "couldn't sleep" afterwards.
6. She invited Tom Selleck on her show and then RUDELY put him on blast about gun control when she herself has armed bodyguards.
And that's just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head.
This show will TANK…she's a hasbeen and fricken' crazy!

Rosie should be an actress full time. The best work she ever did was on "Nip/Tuck" last season. I would watch those episodes over and over just for her. She's a terrific actress — and a total asshole on "The View."

She learned her lesson by writing about the lesson she was told by an actual Chinese person) Get away from the keyboard, screen, get out of your house and workspace and go do something meaninful for humanity.
