The Vatican Has Forgiven John Lennon

A Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano , has issued a posthumous pardon to John Lennon for his 'offensive' declaration forty years ago that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.
The paper described the remark as "showing off, bragging by a young English working-class musician who had grown up in the age of Elvis Presley and rock and roll and had enjoyed unexpected success". Basically, when you're young you say stupid shiz.
John Lennon, wherever he is, must feel so relieved that the Pope's peeps are cool with him again.
Or he probably doesn't give a shit!

I've always thought people being offended by that comment he made was stupid anyway. I think it was misunderstood. He was probably just awed that the Beatles were so well-known that people around the world were as likely to have heard of the Beatles as to have heard of Jesus. Lennon himself said that he wasn't implying that the Beatles were better than Jesus, but that he was pointing out the absurdity of a rock group being more popular than someone like Jesus. The Vatican needs to pull that broomstick out of its ass.
