I didn't really care for her tonight either..
It was an ill-conceived medley anyway. Half-live, half-lipsynched. A medley is no good when they have to have a full stop or breakdown between each song piece.

It wasn't just her! It was everyone! The sound was so off through out the whole show! Plus what the hell was with the backup tracks doing more singing than they did?? The mics sounded as though they weren't turned up all the way.

Yea I watched that. I thought it was off. She didn't sound like her normal self. She was just kind of screaming. Plus I thought it was supposed to be 7 songs in 7 minutes…it was 5 minutes. I think something went wrong.

I thought she sounded fine. It was Miley Cyrus who sounded like shit. No singing whatsoever, screaming. She was fucking screaming and she pretty much busted the speakers on my tv. Little devil.

People people! Go back and watch EVERY performer! There was definitely something wrong with the sound! Mariah, Christina, Beyonce, ColdPlay. Jonas Bros. You could not hear any of them sing!
Plus for us that watched it on tv, it supposed to be in stereo, but what it actually sounded like was that we were actually in the Staples Center!
She just seems like she was really rushed. They should have just stuck to the new song. This whole "look back at my career" thing did not work.

She's a great singer, but she feels the need to prove it each and everytime which makes her go over board and then it doesn't sound great it sounds just sloppy.

Everything seemed to be off with her. She had a sloppy outfit on, I thought me might be preggers again, and she just seemed unsure of herself.

yah. miss tina doesn't perform very well live. i went to her justified and stripped concert in st. louis a few years back.. and lemme tell ya justin definitely stole the show! i didn't feel like christina was very into the performance nor did she sound anything like what i thought she would. she seriously had an issue with her vocals that night and she couldn't hold a note for shit!! she is beautiful and i love many of her songs…but the girl wasn't all that!

I didn't mind her voice but It seemed like she was lost on stage, reminded me of britney at the VMA's 2 years ago( which I thought I completely forgot since britney has been doing awesome recently) Also i she on birth control or pregnant because her face was huge!

I thought she did a good job for an awards show performance. It seems that these people all do a better job singing in their own concerts/shows, but whenever its an awards ceremony, it seems they can't hear themselves properly or something and the performances are always a little off. Case and point with the show tonight…some were completely flawless (Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis), but everyone seemed to have more of a "rough" sound in their voice. Needless to say, I did enjoy her performance…but I would agree that she sounded a little off (maybe a tad more than everyone else), but at least she didn't lip synch like she did at the VMA's. Still love her tho…she's still leaps and bounds ahead of almost everyone else who performed tonight vocally.
well even if she is trying to copy lady gaga, which is doubtfully so, Christina is the one on stage performing, so I guess it doesn't really matter now, does it? Christina is and always will be way more of a star than lady gaga. I love Lady Gaga and is one of my favorites as well, but she doesn't even compare. She's a fad. Christina is a legend.

Her voice sounded a lot lower than normal, maybe she WAS sick. Xtina has an amazing voice and is one of the few pop artists that sound good live.

So much has changed since I 1st started reading this site a few years back and the theme seems to be "the world according to Perez". She sounded fine!
I agree with a couple of you. She has gained a substantial amount of weight since the VMA's 2 and a half months ago. Pregnant? And there was something wrong with the Audio tonight. Mariah, Beyonce, Natasha, PCD, Christina, Pink, It seemed as if they were all trying to scream over the backing track. We all know Chrsitina can sing so that's not the issue. But she definitly should have lyped to KGB, Mariah's been doing this for 20 years and she just started too loose her voice recently so I think Christina is fine.
AND…………..The reporter on the red carpet said to Christina "your doing 6 songs tonight" And she abrumptly replied "no 7 songs in 7 minutes" hmmm? so why a half hour later did you perform 6 songs in 5 minutes? And can we say 'Genie in a Bottle backing track/background singers not singing the same lyrics as Christina. I don't think fighter was the end of the performance I think she ended it. Im a big Christina fan & the performance was OK. CHRISTINA PLEASE GET RID OF THIS LOOK. Your hair/dress/lipstick all has to go.
I thought she sounded great! Towards the end tho she started making Michael Jackson sounds which is pretty cool seeing that those whoos were the only good thing about his career

i think she sounded a bit strained - its a big performance i'm sure she practiced a lot and wore her voice down a bit, it sounded like she'd been singing it over and over so it'd be perfect and therefor it wasn't at full potential, either way she did a good performance and was by far not a let down, she covered all her tracks, and she danced - shits hard, lets not forget that, can any of us do that? no. and if you say you could then shit you'd be famous already so thats a no.
and even if she was 'sick' in any way, she still got up there and did it so lets commend her if thats the case, at least she didn't pull a 'last minute backout' or something weak like that, she fullfilled her commitment

I dont think it was that bad, I mean most people lip sync the whole thing when they dance, and she was probably getting out of breath from dancing. I'm guessing she just concentrated on loosing all the baby fat and not getting in shape so she could perform well
christina aguilera is a legend. everyone has off days, but she has had YEARS of amazingness that she created for herself… should would never need to copy lady gaga.

NONE of the performers that I saw had a good performance, their mikes were too low, the back tracks were too loud, the guy at the sound board was an idiot. But really, who effing cares? We all know that the American Music Awards are the biggest joke in the music industry anyway!!!

I thought it was decent. I like how they did a montage of all of her songs. I do have to complain about her look tonight. I don't know who put her together but she looked like a mess. Christina has a wonderful over the top voice and her outfit/clothes/makeup was screaming anything but that. She needs to fire her stylist.
Whats with the Xtina bashing at the moment? Cant really tell from that clip but her performance seemed fine to me, at least she was well rehearsed as it was really slick.

The sound (acoustics) in general were off ….She was singing in a lower key that we're used to hearing her, and c'mon now, we all KNOW she can sang, so wats the issue really? Tonite's rendition of beautiful showed us that for a brief moment she still has it, and she needs not dancers and all that jazz. So good job Baby Jane, luvs ya!!
(Btw, even on an off day, or bad acoustics, or what have u…..Christina STILL sounds a hundred times better than Lady Gaga ever will, and many of the artists out there for that matter.)
