Nicole Kidman can't act her way out of a soggy paper bag.
Baz Luhrman's epic Australia apparently has all the fixings for a spectacular tourism commercial - except for one thing: its star.
As one reviewer brilliantly put it, Kidman "drifts around films like a lost porcelain doll, looking frozen, brittle and vapid, staring at the camera with her oh-golly-look-how-I'm-looking-interesting blue eyes" and is "exquisitely accomplished at being awful."
In short, she is "the kiss of death in practically every movie she has starred in."

Wow, most of these posts and responses support Nicole Kidman. I dont Nicole Kidman is the greatest actress,but she is way more talented than the Jennifer's and Julia's and the Kate's who play the same shit in every movie. And here in Australia, Nic is definetly up there with Cate Blancett and Toni Collette..I dont understand Perez..The film Twilight got average reviews all around the world, yet he doesnt bag the film.. And why is he bagging Nicole so much?? What about Madonna?? She's a tragedy.
The only reason nicole kidmans movies havent done so well before is because there are people out there hellbent on making it seem like shes a terrible actress. truth is, she is a lot better than most other hollywood actresses out there - shes in amazing movies with intelligent and entertaining storylines. Go back to idolizing the skankalicious, untalented megan fox, nicole haters!!

Just in case anyone wants another opinion, this is what the New York Times had to say about Kidman in the film:
"she’s wonderfully and fully expressive here, from wince-worthy start to heartbreaking finish, whether she’s wrinkling her nose in mock disgust or rushing across a dusty field, her arms pumping so wildly that it’s a wonder well water doesn’t spring from her mouth. It’s a ludicrous role — not long after priming her pump, the barren widow turns into a veritable fertility goddess — but she rides Sarah’s and the story’s ups and downs with ease. Mr. Jackman gives the movie oomph; Ms. Kidman gives it a performance."

TO DIE FOR is still her tour de force. She was exquisitely brilliant in that movie.
i saw 'Australia' last night and i thought it was fantastic. i think both nic and hugh should get acadamy nominations for this film it was fantastic and i was completely taken along with the story. It is a really long film but i didn't notice and i didn't want it to end! i think baz nic and hugh have done australia proud!

and i have to tell you, it was one of the best movies i have ever seen. she was absolutely amazing, as was hugh jackman, and brandon walters. the three of them made the movie phenomonal. please look at some other reviews perez.

I don't think that is a very fair comment. I think she is terrific. She is better than most actresses nowadays. Being married to crazy cruise is what killed her career.
Hugh Jackman was amazing in the movie "Australia"! However, Nicole Kidman couldn't act. When she smiled, her face didn't move at all - even a teenager's eyes crinkle when they smile! And Nicole seriously expects us to believe that she hasn't had Botox injections!
