If I had to make a motherly guess, I would say that Suri is a bit demanding and refuses to put on a coat and Katie is a disciplinarian and caves to her daughter's demands. I doubt very much that Katie doesn't want to put a coat on her or that she doesn't own a coat. Kids at that age can be very forceful and stubborn and Katie may just be falling into a first time mother trap — it is easier to give in then stick to your guns.

Sometimes you have to make your child do things they don't want to, like wear a coat. They may fight it at first, but you got to let them know who is in charge.
I read somewhere that they parent by letting her make a lot of decisions for herself and not telling her what to do so I bet she refused to wear a coat. Bet she won't next time!

Ok. I live in New York and it was warmer yesterday than it has been–by warmer I mean it was in the high 30's. You DO NOT take a child out in this weather without a coat. This is completely ridiculous and it really pisses me off. Thankfully you're pointing it out. I hope more people take notice. This poor child, my mom would bundle me up when I was a kid at the first sign of coldness. Really pisses me off…

It's not going to kill the kid to be cold. Geez, some of you guys must not have kids. Suri will learn through consequence. If she chooses not to wear a coat, she is choosing to be cold. She's old enough to understand that. She'll come around. As parents, you have to let your children learn that every decision they make has a consequence, good or bad!!
OK even if she was fussy to put on a coat, Katie could have at least warped her up inside hers to keep her warmer than what she would be without a coat.

Exactly how warm was it in NY? I live in central Mississippi, and you needed a coat here yesterday. I have a child and, believe me, if I want to him to wear a coat, by God he will wear a coat. No kid is gonna tell me they're not going to wear their coat. That's ridiculous. My child hates wearing a coat, too (I mean it doesn't get as cold here for as long, so he hates it), but he'll wear one if he needs it, period.

I saw an article about this and it had all these examples of Suri in short-sleeved little sun dresses with NO COAT, and it gave the temperature, in some cases as low as 32 degrees!! And in all these shots, Katie and Tom have on thick coats. They claim that she refuses to wear coats. Omg, she's 2!!! Make her wear them, you fucking freaks!!!
unless you have children of your own you have NO right to judge! I live in NYC and have 4 children (one the same age as Suri) and yes it can get very cold here but kids HATE putting on all those layers (they run around and get hot) I do make my kids put on their jackets if we are going for walks but if we are jumping in the car why fight? We parents pick our battles and believe there have MANY times when they refuse to put on their coats and a few minutes later they say "I'm cold" and run to get their coats, some lessons are best learned on their own so all you none parents..shut you pie hole!

Here's a crazy idea… if the kid won't put a coat on make her stay INSIDE!!! Either get a baby-sitter/nanny or the PARENT SHOULD STAY HOME with her.
