Rob plays Dali.

that's so gay…
i love love love robert pattinson
that said
the music in this is beautiful
i love the guitar
I'm sure he could do a fine job, the directors couldn't find anyone Spanish to play Dali?
wtf… i don't get it
it looks soooo stupid anywho
Holy shit. I love it.
gay or straight he's still sexy.
looks really good!
ooo 1st! I feel so special now, what's my prize?
OMG! I wish I hadn't saw that.
Perez Hates Me ^^
WTF
Robert is toooo HOT! for words!!
dam him and his HoTnesS!!
i'm shure its going to be fav like him ;]
I hope you haters take Rob as a serious actor after Little Ashes comes out!! He's going to be fantastic!! And then wait for How To Be!! I'm so excited for him!!
WTF? What is that?
I don't care i still love him!
This is fucking bullshit. Yes, he's a good vampire, but Salvador Dali, one of the most intriguing, complex figures of 20th century art??? Please. This is going to be AWFUL. They needed to cast someone much more multi-dimensional than fucking Robert Pattinson. We didn't even know who the fuck he was three months ago. Dali deserves more than this. What a fucking slap in the face to Dali. How disrepectful of the filmakers. What FUCKING idiots.
Re: Hawkeye – I haven't seen/read Twilight so I'm not bias so I'm honestly saying if you had no idea who he was three months ago then how can you say how terrible of an actor he is from one movie(not that Twilight was his first)? Like I said I haven't seen it but I have heard he does a good job. I'm not saying he's the BEST ever I'm just saying it's too quick to judge on whether or not he will do well in this film, so at least give him a chance on such a serious and important role.
Re: Hawkeye –
Yeah and before u didn't know him (3 months ago or w/e u said), he was an amazing actor FYI now just b/c u associate him w/twilight u don't think he is good enough to play this part?! First off, chances r u have never saw any of his other movies (BEFORE twilight) so u wouldn't know how great of an actor this guy is.
Sweet! Will his muse Gala be included????
Re: Hawkeye – maybe you should see the movie before you state your opinion dont you think? i think robert will do a fine job and from the preview he looks great GO ROB
Yeah, I can't wait for it!
Well unfortunately this movie looks boring.
I love that he is still into small movies instead of big screens.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Twilight series were the only big screen movies he makes! But after banking 12 million a movie for New Moon and probably Eclipse, he can afford to do indie movies.
Ahhhh! He is so sexy
Why on Earth would they cast him for Dali? he doesn't look like him at all, nevermind Spanish. He's probably a good actor but they should have tried to find an unknown to play him (not to mention a Spanish one).
Re: Hawkeye – I completely agree with you. I feel like they just cast him because they knew Twilight was going to be big and now all his fans are going to want to see this even though they probably wouldn't be able to differentiate Dali and Picasso.
It looks like it has the potential to be a good film. I can't wait to see it. Dali is one of my favorite artists so I hope they do his life and his art justice in this film.
and yet he's still oh so amazingly perfect.
his facial structure is completely amazing.
WOW….what a stretch…!!!
(That was extreme and intense sarcasm.)
And incidentally, Perez. Dali was not gay.
The whole vampire genre is intensely more gay than anything he'll be doing any time soon.
I thought you were going to tell us he was going to be in yet another tiresome remake of Brideshead Revisited.
I didn't know I knew him but I always thought Cedric Diggory was hot, now i know why. The kid is 6'1 with great hair & a classically trained pianist on top of having a pretty decent singing voice. I suspect he will be a big star
You wish fag!
Keep dreaming butt licker
I do like Robert but I absolutely agree with all those persons saying Dali should be played by a spanish guy. The reason why they didn't cast a spanish person is cause the production is Spanish/Brittish so they needed to put some brittish actors on the movie… What actually surprises me the most is that he would be playing a gay Dali (It's known that Salvador Dali was absolutely crazy in love with his wife, whom he painted several times and was very loyal to) So… wtf??
Re: Sensitivity – AAAAAAAAAAAARrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh me hardy! I got cut off earlier.
Ok, I created an avatar just to comment on this….. being Spanish and having studied Dali's and Garcia Lorca's real relationship and after reading what the movie is about I can't help but cringe a little…to be honest what pisses me off is the AWFUL accent they speak in!WTF!!They are all english speaking actors (BTW why is that???Couldn't find decent Spanish actors to play two of our nation's gratest artists!?)so why do they make them speak like brits-trying-to-sound-like-spaniards-who-can't-speak-english??
Solo por si hay dudas de mi nacionalidad dejar dicho que si no quedaba mas opcion que dar el papel a actores no españoles (y ademas poco parecidos a los originales), que al menos no caigan en el cliche tipico del español que farfullea ingles!!
As for Rob, well, can't speak about his acting skill since I haven't even seen Twilight yet (opens in DECEMBER in Europe!) and despite his hottness…anyone else notice his nose seems really TINY in this flic??
Oh, forgot to say!
Garcia Lorca : Openly gay (one of the reasons he was executed during Civil War in 1936)
Dali : NOT gay…he was, how should I put it…an experimenting guy. He tried everything, in every sense of the word, but according to his own testimony he never actually had sex with GL…although they apparently tried!
separated at birth:
r. patz and starburst leprechaun ("berries and cream")
lmaooooo
wow…even in that creepy hat, he is way cute on film. I wish he was as hot in person instead of looking like he just bathed in a vat of Crisco.
Robert Pattinson is so fucking hot.
You guys that are saying that they only cast Robert becuase of how big twilight was gonna be, get your facts straight. This movie was cast way before twilight.
Re: Hawkeye – Number 18, Hawkeye, I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks.
he is still gorgeous thoughhh
Re: Dominique – Re: xbmxlover13x – You two, pipe down and siddown. You've got homework to finish before you return to junior high Monday, anyway.
Incidentally, you wouldn't know Salvador Dali if he walked up and slapped you to the ground. Which he altogether likely would. And should.
So pipedown.
IM
SEEING
THIS…
looks like he continues the white-faced personae he had in twilight. weird looking too. the british always make fabulous docudramas so this will be one i'll keep my TiVo peeled for.
Re: awsomekrys – You too, honey. You wouldn't know Salvador Dali if he walked up and shoved a flaming giraffe up your ass.
The Dali movie will be for grownups, darlings. Likely not the 15-22 year old demographic. That's why grownups would prefer a serious, more experienced actor.
Re: nanaluvren – Thank you 38.
It looks very interesting. I don't know if Robert is the best person to play Dali, but it should be good. I love Rob.
I guess I have to break this into two posts. Mother fucker. Anyway, Re: Hawkeye. You're right about Dali. He was an absolutely complex, amazing man and his art was only an 1/8th of that. The man himself was much more than the sum of his work. But for fuck's sake! I don't usually jump on gossip boards to comment but your post got the hair up on my neck with the way you slam Pattinson without having seen the film… Yeah, you may have seen Twilight but that is hardly a proper look at the guy's chops. Seriously… Have you looked at any of the press for Little Ashes and what people have said about his part in this? Continued…
Even the director is on the record practically creaming himself with words like "passionate, shocking, hauntingly beautiful, extraordinary." Do you still believe in Santa Hawkeye? Probably not. But that doesn't mean you couldn't be fucking surprised by this guy. I love Dali. Love, love love him to obsession and I was weary about it. However, insetead of getting my panties in a wad on Perez, I checked out some of the other roles he's done. Not worried anymore. I suggest you check out the BBC's Haunted Airman or the festival film How to Be that's making the rounds right now. No matter how much eye candy this man is (and he is eye candy, that's for sho!), he can act. More importantly, there are some highly reputatble indie directors and several film critics out there who agree on that sentiment. So forget the school girl super hype happening around Twilight and watch what happens down the road. The "good vampire" has a lot more to offer than looking hot with sexy bed hair. You see the most interesting thing about him? Not his looks. It's his ability to morph into the roles he's picking and become the character. Not to mention the fact that he's picking interesting roles to begin with. Holy fuck? I, for one, can't wait to see Little Ashes now. Dali's in good and capable hands Hawkeye. You can take that to your little piggy bank.
Uh…yeah…whatever.
Vincent Perez would be an excellent choice.
He even looks vaguely like Dali.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
Re: Hawkeye – WOW you should really do your research before you say that it's "going to be AWFUL" because there have already been some people who have seen the film and it as well as Rob have gotten great reviews!
They didn't pick an older actor because the movie depicts Dali from ages 18 to about 26 so it makes perfectly good sense for them to choose someone young.
Re: Hawkeye – Re: Twinklet –
Hawkeye, if Twinklet could get Pattinson's dick out of her/his mouth long enough, the next thing she/he will be telling us is that next Pattinson will be playing Shakespeare's Hamlet, Prince Of Denmark.
ugh. well either way rob is gnna be great, i honestly think hes a really good actor.
not only because hes so fineee
even tho thats a plus;)
but i like how he has an accent &he can just change it when he needs to.
i know thats nothing big, but ohwell! hes still fine
As much as I adore Rob, I don't really want him to do another film being gay but as a bisexual. That would be way more hotter!!!
no, R-Patz EYEBROWS were cast as Dali.
Re: Hawkeye – Wait a fucking minute!!! Your saying we didn't even know him 3 months ago. So that means he isn't capable of being good for this part? He is multi- dimensional. He hasn't been around long enough for anyone to know what he's capable of so your point is really useless.
he's cuter here than Twilight
sooo affffter seeeinnng twilight today for the first time, i decided to go see it AGAIN for the second time a few hours later. and now im going to bed sexually frustrated. woooooo laVe y3w perez
Re: Hawkeye – Re: Furburger – FYI: little ashes was filmed BEFORE Twilight… Before Rob became known for being Edward in the movie Twilight. Do your research because you guys are being quite immature jumping to conclusions. I am not afraid to admit that I have no idea who Dali is, but I'm to assume you didn't know him personally, so why are you two the best judge of how he acted, and who should be acting him in a movie… Especially if you don't even know who Rob Pattinson is. Sure he was in Twilight, but he was also in Harry Potter, How To Be, The Summer House, and many TV shows. He specializes in indie and art films, so ironically enough, he is probably better suited for THIS role as Dali then his role as Edward. That being the case, he did a phenomenal job as Edward in Twilight, showing that he is an actor that, in fact, can play multiple types of roles. So don't lash out at others for defending his acting, when you have no understanding to the roles he has played in the years he has been around.
I would see the film with or without his performance as Salvador Dali. I'm a huge art history/cultural studies and comparative literature geek. ;} Also, Dali was my late brothers' favorite artist. I'm glad that Robert is playing the role because Mr. Pattinson claims to be quite the lit nerd himself. Most professors and theorists/authors, in my experience, tend to gloss over Dali when discussing or referencing the Surrealists. This, likely, is due to an assumption that we all are quite familiar with the life and work of Dali. I, despite my studies, feel as though I have much to learn about him. I intend to read a biography prior to seeing this movie, but I'm really looking forward to the film and to seeing Mr. Pattinson's portrayal. I'm almost certain I won't be disappointed in either…
Wow, it's almost as exciting as doing my laundry.
wtf that was so boring, i'm so sick of crap quality videos, you need to go HD bitch
Although, I'm not the hugest fan of Robert, and don't see him as remotely attractive. I was not a huge fan of the Twilight books, I liked the movie…played the part well and was not disappointed with his abilities.
I think he might be good in this movie, but not a 100% sure because I have only seen him in Twilight (was he also in Harry Potter?) and have not seen his full potential yet.
So give him a chance, I guess.
Does he have any lines? I mean, I like arty films but there's only so long I can watch a guy smear art supplies on his face before I get a little bored…no matter how pretty he is. Strange casting choice.
Film should have been recorded in Spanish. I doubt their passion can be portrayed as well in English. Besides I doubt Federico, Salvador, or Luis spoke English that well, they were Spanish!
who gives a fuck, and the video quality sucks, do something perez!
RE: To ALL you fucking morons who said "give him a chance or WHATEVER." I FUCKING have SEEN the clips (including Perez's) and he is AWFUL. His accent is laughable, and his acting is mediocre AT BEST. Have ANY of you actually READ, SEEN, or HEARD any of the genius/brilliance that is Salvador Dali? Probably NOT. RP is WAY off the mark. I'm a Dali aficiondo, and I can GUARANTEE Dali would be shitting himself if he was privy to this travesty. He would HATE this portrayl. A FUCKING disposible TEEN idol????? You really think he's going to have ANY CAREER AT ALL in ten years?! I'd bet my life on it HE WON'T!!! It's fucking ridiculous!!
how is this gay?
If Robert Pattinson goes gay I will get a sex change, no joke
i love rob p…but will not be seeing this movie. looks like the gayest most boring movie ever…
I love Rob. I think this shows how versatile of an actor he is and I personally can't wait to see Little Ashes. I also hope that one day I'll be able to see How To Be as well. Rob is awesome!
why does he play such weird characters
though twilight was good, he lucked out in that
but all the other movies he was in are strange and i wouldn't want to see them
i love him though
but he looks better on screen
much more clean cut looking
Re: nanaluvren –
You covered most of the things i wanted to say.
Really, this is a fucking outrage. Dali would shit bricks if he knew about this. As someone else said, why pick a teen idol over a decent spanish actor???
Dali was the greatest artist & most interesting human being that has ever existed thus far, he deserves better. What a fucking embarrassment.
I love Rob and this looks extremly cool
Re: nanaluvren –
I think that the guy who plays Lorca is Spanish
Re: cheerio –
Cheerio, you're an idiot. He was casted and filmed as Dali long before he was involved in Twilight. Do your homework and kick rocks
That's hot.
i'm sorry but those stupid accents are an insult to anyone who's Spanish
WTF?///////
you'd think that with all that money they would actually hire a good speech coach……couldn't they get Gael or Diego Luna to do the part??? I'm sick and tired of fucking Hollywood thinking they can fool the whole world and portraying different countries the way they think it should be……..
and eventho i think Rob is HOT, i'm so not watching this movie
TO YOU DUMB ASSES BITCHING ABOUT RP PLAYING DALI. YOU REALIZE HE GOT CAST PRE-TWILIGHT RIGHT? THAT'S WHY IT'S COMING OUT SOON. IN OTHER WORDS, HE GOT CAST CAUSE THEY LIKED HIM FOR THE ROLE, NOT CAUSE HE WAS A COMMERCIAL SUCCESS BACK THEN. HE'S PLAYING DALI IN A SPECIFIC PORTRAYAL IN HIS YOUTH WHEN HE INTERACTED WITH LORCA. CALM THE FUCK DOWN, AND STOP SHOWING LAME, COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY SELF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION.
PS: and tthis is gonna be all sorts of awesome. Yes, cause it's a little arty film. Yes, cause Dali and Lorca are totally hot shit. Butcome on–you know most of you gals want to see it so we can watch roberto rub one out!lol
Rob filmed this before Twilight. People who have seen the film say he and Javier who play Lorca are fantastic. The full traile ris on Access Hollywood on Monday. Better qaulity version sof the clips are on rotten tomatoes and on you tube. One fan review said the folowing about one scene: t begins with a dark cloudy night with Dali and Lorca jumping out of a rowing boat into the ocean. It's so dark they can barely see each other, but then the moon comes out and the whole scene is transformed, both characters look ethereal in the moonlight. The filming follows them as the twist around in the water, it films them from below and above until you can barely tell who's who, in the same way they feel themselves becoming one they become one in the eyes of the audience too.
Under the moonlight they share their first kiss, all pretence dropped they are entirely themselves. It is one of the most romantic scenes I have seen. When it cuts back to the scene later in the film there is a powerful feeling of longing for the simple beauty which they shared that night, one which they both know they can never return to.
Another quote from someone who saw the film: The sex scene is secondarily about sensuality and it is there, but it is a magnificent scene because the sensuality comes second to the acknowledgement that each of the three characters is suffering in their own personal hell. Dali's eyes are filled with tears and he struggles to understand his powerful reaction to what he is witnessing, Margarita is finally getting the man she wants but feels like she is being used, a toy in someone else's love affair, and Lorca hates himself for using a woman he knows loves and respect him to express his love for another.
Another quote from a fan who saw the film in London: Dali develops wonderfully, from a gauche young boy he changes himself to be more like Lorca whom he idolises from the beginning. As their relationship progresses Dali becomes more and more dependant on Lorca for support and reassurance and through Lorca he truly begins to believe in his abilities where before he only talked of genius now he genuinely feels it. When in his confusion he cuts himself off from Lorca he retreats under a veil of eccentricity and forced self-importance. Finally with the death of Lorca the light leaves Dali's eyes and life becomes merely a stage.
Hawkeye: I'm more of a Lorca fan than a Dali fan to be honest. But he was a very complex man with many layers on top to hide the extremely shy and self conscious nature he possessed. This film focuses more on the beginnings of the man and how he made his myth essentially, and Robert is an understandable choice. He isn't the greatest actor out there, but he has certain qualities as an actor that makes him an understandable casting choice. If he's so shitty, why did they cast him, hawkeye? Back when he was cast, his name meant jack shit in terms of commercial appeal. So, what was teh motivation otherwise for the people who made the film? ?Robert has a lot of work to do to get to a more accomplished place acting wise, I agree. But he possesses a vulnerability and sensitivity in his performances that make him a logical choice for an 18 year old Dali.
I found these quote from people who saw the film in London
He (ROB) is really, really funny. There’s one scene, where he skives off an art lesson, quietly chases Lorca and his girlfriend down the street and nips round them so when they see him he can act casual. He plays it beyond perfectly, with truly awesome comic timing.
Yes, he does get naked. Quite a bit, actually.
And he does kiss a boy. Several times.
Rob’s hands get a lot of love in this film. He paints. Lots. And clings to stuff.
He is also drunk, lots, at the beginning. He does it really well, and looks awesome being carried out of a bar.
He wears ruffles.
At one point, unless I’m very much mistaken, he is very very briefly dressed as a pirate.
At another point he does wear a kind of Moroccan headdress thing that looks a bit like a school tie he's just tied round his head for no good reason. It is inexplicably adorable.
I probably should mention (because I'm sure everyone will in reviews and stuff) that they do include the scene where Lorca and Margarita have sex in front of him and he does… make his own fun. I expected that scene to be really off-putting and awkward to watch, but the way they’ve done it – it’s the cornerstone of the whole film, in a way, explains a lot of what happens later. It wasn’t at all what I expected, ended up being one of the saddest moments in the whole thing, because Rob is awesome and kind of broke my heart in that scene.
More feedbacK: "My favourite bit? Either Rob hiding behind a plant, necking several glasses of wine, and when asked what he’s doing saying ‘trying to get really drunk’, or a scene on the beach, where he’s lying with his head in Lorca’s lap. The camera starts at his feet, crawls its way up his body, lingers on his face, while Javier reads poetry to him and plays with his hair. Or the one where they drunkenly shout revolutionary slogans and then have to run from the guard, end up ensconced in a doorway and have the most adorable exchange about girls. Or a scene right at the end that I can't say anything about because it's the most massive of massive spoilers.
Seriously, if you get the chance, go and see it."
dalí had a funny mustache. rob doesn't look like dalí at all
WHYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! OG Please no sex scenes I wont be able to handle it
this news is incredibly oooold. Like waaaaaay old. Months old.
Awesome! I feel bad though that he will be playing another part that people will pick apart and scrutinize over. No wonder why he just wants to play a "normal guy". I have heard he does a great job, and I can't wai to see his film.
Rob is too beautiful to be true
To Everyone That "Loves Salvador Dali" -
Although Robert Pattison is attractive, he looks NOTHING LIKE Dali. Although Lorca and Dali had a relationship, I am sure they will edit out the very strange and mentally disturbed entity that was the true Dali. The one who would sit in a bath tub in his parents attic cradling himself and pretending he was in his mothers womb. Or the one who would hid peepholes in his lovers walls to spy on them while they had sex with other men. This is not a statement of hate towards Robert, in fact I think he is a fine young actor and seems like an amiable young man. What I am saying is more a criticism of the film itself and its portrayl of Lorca and Dali. To romanticize a relationship while simultaneously making it one dimensional does credit to no one, not the historical (and brilliant) figures that are to be portrayed, nor the actors themselves.
perezzzzzzzzzzz…….where u see here a gay?????XDDDDDDDDDDD………i didnt see it!xdddd……….Robert is really good actor!)♥
IF HE'S GAY
THEN WE LOVED HIM.
Oh wow!
Thanks for putting these up!
YAY Rpattz! I hope there's a makeout scene in this movie….lol
This looks really good. I love the ending of the first clip.
