Rosie O'Donnell's attempt to bring back the variety show failed - miserably!

Wednesday night's broadcast of Rosie Live was barely watched, delivering just 5 million viewers.

Ouch!

Plus, reviews for the show were horrible and sources tell us that the show wasn't exactly "live."

Oh, well. Nice try!

Hopefully the Osbournes will have better luck when their variety show debuts next month!

      I only saw bits and pieces, but that shit was enough. Liza Minelli sounded like an old granny, all shaky and trembling. I thought she was going to hit the floor any minute. And I can't believe Rosie tortured Alec Baldwin by making him pick her up. You could practically see his eyes bulging out of his head! The performances she did with the kids were so cheesy. She tried to be funny and cutesy but it only made her look stupid. She kept her fat, club-like hands in front of her gut most of the show, while trying to hide the fact that she was continuously short of breath. When Alannis started howling those ungodly lyrics, I wanted to slice my wrists with a butter knife. And I won't even get into the dancing food at the end, with Rachel Ray holding up that fricking HUMUNGOUS plastic turkey. SOOOO DUMB!!!

      Personally, I love Rosie O'Donnell.
      Yes, the show wasn't as good as it could have been; it is what it is.

      I blame the low ratings to the fact that it showed on the night before Thanksgiving.
      People are traveling and cooking/cleaning.

      Very few people have time to actually sit and watch television.

      I think NBC should pick it up, and turn it more into a sketch comedy, like Rosie has on Logo.

      That would be PERFECT — especially since FOX is canceling MADtv

      NBC definitely doesn't get it. I think that network thinks we are stupid and don't notice their agenda. However, I don't think Jeanne Garafolo has a career anymore, does she? Once you go too far Left and shove it down people's throats every time the camera is on you, the public turns away. It's just tedious.

      I like Rose but I think I watched Little People, Big World instead. (Thank goodness for Picture In a Picture.) I did check her out during commercials though–just in time to see Clay Aiken gallop away in his SpamaLot outfit. And then I saw a rapper-whatever.

      I tried to sit through it. The writing was beyond bad. I hope somebody's head rolls at NBC. I don't know who signed off on the jokes, but my 5 yr old niece makes funnier comments than what was broadcast. Maybe NBC should hire her to write the show?

      CONGRATS ROSIE!!! YES I SAID CONGRATS!!! Because I thought it was a fun show and I really hope that NBC will allow you to do a weekly variety show next year.

      I think that was quite a lot of viewers and yes maybe the show could be better, but it was THE FIRST SHOW and a lot could be learned from it, improved upon etc.

      I appreciated the many good performances. I didn't care for Alec Baldwin and the talking in your shirt thing. Not for family hour, and frankly not very funny. Having said that, I really enjoyed the show, and loved the duet with Gloria.

      Rachael made me laugh with the turkey!

      Guess some people are so miserable these days that all they can do is criticize. Perez!!!!

      Re: clvrgrl – I hate to break it to you, but Lefties like us (who voted for Obama) complain every day that there are not enough Lefties on TV, when FOX news and even portions of CNN are dominated by them. Rachel Maddow's ratings on MSNBC have proven a serious challenge to "fossil" Larry King (Isn't Rosie feuding with him, too?). Doesn't anybody remember that MSNBC once wanted Rosie?? An opportunity may have been missed there (Rosie turned MSNBC, down), but Maddow will prevail. Remember, we will be a divided, polarized nation for the rest of our lives. Nobody will be happy, ever.

      Re: clvrgrl – Janeane Garafalo is still around. I saw her on one of Henry Rollins' shows, and she's been on "24." She was on Air America Radio for a long time until she got into some horrid spat with her co-host Sam Seder and left. I also heard Air America was over-paying some of their hosts, so they might have kicked her out because of that, too.
