Though there were no Twilight-esque openings this holiday weekend, Hollywood still reeled in lots of money from y'all!
According to industry insiders, Reese Witherspoon's funny movie Four Chirstmases is the king of the Thanksgiving weekend's box office. Its Wednesday through Sunday earnings total is expected to be appoximately $46 million.
At #2 is last week's $70 million money maker Twilight. RPat-z and crew will add another $39 million to the flick's bank account by the end of the weekend.
Rounding out the top three is Disney's Bolt. Its five day total is expected to be about $34 million.
The new Nicole Kidman/Hugh Jackman flick Australia bombed big time. The super expensive movie is expect to take home to Fox only $19.5 million.

Australia was actually VERY good. It wasnt open on very many screens though… When i went there were only 2 showings for the night, but the one i went to was PACKED. and everyone left talking about how good it was, some even saying it was on Gone with the Wind level.
I saw Four Christmases and I thought it was hilarious. Australia was released at a stupid time. People want to see FAMILY movies during a FAMILY weekend. They should have waited a few more weeks, I probably would have seen it. It looks good, too.
WHAT?! Unbelievable - AUSTRALIA was clearly the best film out this weekend. Everyone should see it - stunning visuals and absolutely worth the ridiculous movie ticket price…
I personally think Nicole Kidman ruined the movie who wants to see a actress who can't make facial expressions, Hugh doesn't have to worry IMO Wolverine is gonna come out next yr and that's bound to be a hit! on another note Twilight kcked all there asses 109 million in 9 days says alot no matter what ppl think

perez, you always have to get a stupid dig into someone on your hate list. 19 million is not a bad take-granted not a great take, but considering it was thanksgiving weekend, not bad. how come no snipe remark, say, about like the movie changeling, for instance. It took like 7 mill the first week. Christmas Day movie ticket sales should be interesting….both Jennifer Aniston (Marley & Me) and Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button) have movies opening that day. As someone mentioned earlier….family time & holidays usually mean big sales for more family oriented movies.
Quite thought-provoking. The silly, shallow, self-conscious, vain-glorious and gay teen vampire flick….was so quickly knocked out of 1st place. And by an absurd and silly holiday slapstick comedy.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhah.
Oh well, on to the next trend, you trendies.

4 Christmases was ok. Unfortunately, most of the funny parts were in the commercials. It did have it's moments, but definitely not something I will be in a hurry to buy when it's released on video.
i can't believe what a dumbass you are perez. and last time i checked you were no expert on the box office. its unfair to claim australia as a "bomb" when it only made 20 million this weekend. you have to take into account the fact that it played at hundreds of fewer theaters then something like Four Christmases and given its long running time, you also have to consider the substantial number of fewer actual screenings it had compared to Four Christmases - a film that is literally half as long as Australia. Plus you have to take into account people who are as dumb as you and proclaim this film as bad simply because you hate Nicole Kidman. I saw Australia at an advance screening a week before it came out and the full house I was a part of gave it a round of applause. it's a good movie. better than your twilight shit. and while you're up on your prop 8 high horse, why don't you take a minute to mention the incredible business Milk did this weekend? Your obvious lack of box office experience and knowledge is really frustrating.

Four Christmases was HORRID! Australia was FANTASTIC! Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were HOTTTT! Couldn't bring myself to see Bolt, 90 minutes of Miley's voice is too much to take. Definitely will be making another trip to the movies to watch Twilight again, maybe this time I can see the movie without 100 tween girls drooling and screaming whenever RPatz hits the screen. LOVED it, and loved the chemistry between him and Kristen, BEAUTIFUL!!!
the total 4 twilight after 9 days 119.6 million domestic and including mexico and canada the amount ads to 129.5 million in the next few weeks the movie will be released in other countries

I haven't seen it yet, but Australia looks awesome. Sadly, people these days rarely want to see those type of movies. As for 4 Christmases, it looks cute, a regular holiday comedy. Perez, you should at least give VV some props and not just RW. He's a big draw in comedies.
BTW, "Four Christmases" was totally stupid and "Australia" was amazing. Box Office numbers do no equal movies worth seeing. Skip this holiday bomb!

it was an amazing movie, something i will always remember, watch, and show my kids.
all those other movies were widely distributed and are silly family movies, which obviously gave them a boost. australia, was something for intellectuals, romantics, and people who understand acting and cinematography. nicole kidman and hugh jackman were WONDERFUL, as was the little boy in it. and when i went to see it, i got the last ticket…the theatre was packed.

I went to Twilight and the Bond movie. I didn't go to that Australia movie. I have 2 Australian friends. They didn't go to the Australia movie either. They said it would be cheesey. I don't know why that would be. My African-American friends went to see Roots and they all own it on DVD. That's not the same type of thing, I guess.
I know a few people that went to see it. It looks cute!
i cant believe australia didnt come in first , i mean this movie will win OSCARS believe me i saw an advanced screening, i think it will do better in other countries especially european countries, it might have not done too well in usa but it will do well in other countries.

Not even our entertainment industry is safe from the crisis, studios have to hire mediocre actors and give them mediocre plots with the main idea of "entertain" people by mediocre and excesively used jokes… same old same old… same as tv where they bring back old shows like 90210 and others cause they dont wanna risk for new shows or pay for good writers, its a crisis people and this news just reflects where our country is going!

Nothing annoys me more than people how bag a film and they havent seen it yet!! Just because less people saw Australia in the first week doesnt mean it has BOMBED. This movie is far superior to those other 2 films you have named and will definately be winning multiple Oscars and I daresay the other 2 have no chance!! It's got it all - comedy, romance, action, tears and the most gorgeous scenery you will ever see. Well done Baz, a masterpiece! Do yourself a favour Perez, go and see it.
I saw Australia and that movie is a must see. Absolutely loved it. It'll never be Gone With the Wind but it comes damn near close! And twenty mil is nothing to sneeze at considering the limited screens AND play times that the movie was made available in theaters.

Who went to see this movie.???It seems so crude. Australia was made like the older movies with dialogue, romantic tension, and a difference between good and evil. Great movie!! Too bad people don't appreciate the good ones.

I don't get the interest in Vince Vaughn. He is one fat, ugly fucker and he essentially plays the same 1 dimensional character in every film (like Maniston does). I feel embarrassed that an Academy Award winner (and classy woman) like Reese got stuck in a film with him.

19.5 million isn't shit for a movie that cost over 130 mililon to make. It not only got beat by Four Christmas's but Twilight,Bolt,and James Bond 3 movies that have been out for a couple of weeks. Kidman is Box Office Poison and is the reason more people are not seeing Australia. Quite a few people waked out of it because it sucked so bad. It's another flop for flop Queen Kidman.

haha funny my friend told me in class today it was one of the worst movies she has ever seen…I like both of the leads in the movie but, I heard from a lot of others too that didn't like it soooo it's not on my list to see.
