J.K. Rowling Hopes For More Potter Success

J.K. Rowling wants some extra millions to add to her already multimillion bank account!
The creator of the Harry Potter books will now be introducing a new collection for tweens to become obsessed over.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a book of five Potter-related fairy tales that are written NS illustrated by Rowling.
In the last Potter book, the Beedle the Bard book is given to Hermoine by Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore. Just another reason for Potter fans to buy it!
The book's first printing is set at 3.5 million copies. The last HP book, Deathly Hallows, had a first printing of 12 million. But with the success of HP and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, there are good estimates that Beedle will be a big seller. DUH!
Unfortunately, as with the Potter books, no review copies have been made available to the critics so there's no indication if the book will suck.
Advance sales of the book are going for a discounted $12.99. Though Amazon already has 100,000 copies being published as part of a $100 collector's edition.
The book consists of stories that wizard parents tell their children. The stories even hold clues that help Harry destroy Voldemort.
A rep from Rowling's publishers says, "They feel like folk tales or fairy tales that have been around forever. They're as good as any Grimm tale that you might have read in your own childhood. But that's just Rowling's incredible skill."
Eager Potter fans will get their hands on this book when it goes on sale this Thursday. The book will even be published in 38 languages.
Talk about going global.

American International Group Inc., the insurer that said yesterday it scrapped bonuses for top executives after a U.S. bailout, will still pay 130 managers "cash awards" to stay with the firm, including $3 million to retirement services chief Jay Wintrob.
Wintrob, 51, will get the "retention" payment in two installments, the first in April 2009 and the rest a year later, New York-based AIG said today in a regulatory filing. The firm previously disclosed the program in a Sept. 26 filing and said today that Wintrob and Chief Financial Officer David Herzog elected to get the payments four months later than planned.
"The expectation from the public and Congress was that they weren't getting bonuses, not that they'd be pushed off by several months," said David Schmidt, a consultant at executive pay firm James F. Reda & Associates. "That clearly violates the spirit of AIG saying they'll forgo their bonuses."[emphasis added]

Beedle The Bard was never meant to be a commercial enterprise. She originally announced that only 7 hand written, hand illustrated copies would be produced and only one available for sale or auction. Each copy was bound in brown morroco leather and decorated with hand-chased silver ornaments and semi-precious stones by silversmith and jeweller Hamilton and Inches of Edinburgh.
The one copy for sale was expected to reach $100,000 and was bought at auction by Amazon for $4M - the highest price EVER for a modern literary manuscript.
The other six copies were to be gifts for the 6 people JK Rowling felt had been an integral part of her Harry Potter journey and the books were a tribute to these 6 people whom she has never named.
When the general mass of Potter fans discovered there was another book she was inundated with requests to publish the manuscript for the general public. She announced in July that the book would be availalble for all to buy before Xmas HOWEVER as Beedle The Bard was always intended as a gift JK Rowling will be donating ALL NET PROCEEDS of the book to the Childrens High Level Group, a charity which aids vulnerable children particularly in Eastern Europe.
So sorry Perez, she wont be adding all those millions to HER bank account - this book will remain the gift she always intended it to be.

Have some depth lol. I was stubborn to read Twilight cause I thought I'd hate it, and surprise! I'm in love with Twilight now. But really, HP is really well written. Much better written than Twilight, but not necessarily as good. It would keep you on the edge of your seat and laughing at the very least.

Amazon bought the original copy more than a year ago. They already put it up online. It isn't a novel, it is more like the other companion pieces she did, quidditch through the ages and fantastic beasts and where to find them.
