'Cash Poor' Ford and GM Will Sell Corporate Jets

Two of the 'Big Three' auto makers have finally acted responsibly and on Tuesday, announced that they'll be selling their corporate jets.

In a statement, GM said, "Due to significant cutbacks over the past months, GM travel volume no longer justified a dedicated corporate aircraft operation."

Ford has confirmed that it will be selling five jets from its fleet.

The big CEOs will now have to "settle" for flying first class!

WTF is up with Chrysler, the third auto 'giant'?

Why aren't they sacrificing any of their corporate jets?

Chrysler SUCKS!

Ya know, they rent out those planes when they're not using them so they get some money back.
      God, you're stupid.

    2. 2

Wow what a sacrifice, poor little bitches!

    3. 3

Chrysler is privately owned and may not be asking for a handout, must a loan that must be paid back.

Why don't they all sell all of the jets from all of the fleets? There shouldn't have one left.

    9. 9

Um yeah- Chrysler's CEO is also the one who changed his salary to 1.00. They also only have 1 or 2 planes, while Ford has at least 8.

    10. 10

come on perez you are supposed to be my link to the truth….

Chrysler doesn't own any in the first place, they lease them when they own them, they have been watching pennies for a long time

    11. 11

      hahaha wow.

    12. 12

      they all suck….
      .
      .
So can we buy from Toyota now without getting shit about it???

    13. 13

jes is right..the planes dont just sit on the runway…next time you fly check to see what corporate jets are avail. most charter back to their home cities when not in use to cover expenses…also, i think chrysler got rid of their jets when daimler bought them out a few years ago…

    14. 14

But there's no way I'm gittin' rid of my private railcar "The Love Slug".

    15. 15

Chrlysler has sucked for a looooong time. The greedy bastard CEO is just another corporate rapist who has made MILLIONS of dollars in salary and in bonuses as his company continues to lose billions of dollars over the years. This corporate rapist has the nerve to layoff thousands of people over the years as he continues to give himself millions of dollars in bonuses and salary increases. . I will NEVER by from that phucking company. An American Disgrace. **** Boycott Chrysler ****** The only one that is actually making the most cut back is Ford. His CEO is only taking a $1 in salary BUT WILL HE FORGO HIS BONUSES!!!!! GM continues to hold on to their wasteful glory days but there slowly making some concessions. But Chrysler is a complete disgrace. PHUCK CHRYSLER!!!

    16. 16

i just hung up on a call from area code 702, Las Vegas was calling!

    17. 17

Those guys are douche bags! I think Chrysler has great trucks! I hope those douche bags work this out. I don't want to see people out of jobs.

    18. 18

LeoNa'$ GhO$t (LettyB for pope!)………………….i'm still waiting for my fucking fit-flops

    19. 19

Re: topper – you fucking KILL me with that backstack…….my husband's about to thank you………later gaters…mama's gonna git some

    20. 20

"Ford has confirmed that it will be selling five jets from its fleet." Only 5, if your looking for a hand out, why not all of them?

    21. 21

they get rid of them ONLY after they got called out on using them.. while they were asking for money , they got asked " who here came on a commercial flight?"… no one did…..

    22. 22

Funny that those guys blame everything on the unions, "Oh, people who actually work for a living are stealing money from the fat-ass CEOs' investment portfolios, with their unAmerican 'democracy' and 'communication' and 'working together.'" But when it was time for negotiations, the UAW reps took commercial flights to DC, the CEOs took private jets. There it is, America. The thieves are still trying to blame the working class for wasting money and using resources inefficiently. But thanks to the Internet, now we can see who exactly is wasting the money, abusing resources, causing the economic downturn. And it isn't the working class.

    23. 23

Ironically we've already bailed Chrysler out once before-no stipulations…we got reamed! They may rent out their jets Jes1030, but there is the cost for maintenance, storage, etc. I'm sure it doesn't come close to breaking even.
If you & I did a shit job, we would loose it, not make $28 million/yr.
Fuck them $1 is more than enough for shitty work!
Let the bloody oil companies bail them out!!!

    24. 24

and now those pilots are out of jobs!!!

    25. 25

All the Big three are selling off some of their planes. What gets me is that they are saying that the big CEO's will take only $1.00 salary for the year? Does this dollar include their over $14Million in bonuses

    26. 26

      Agree with Jes1030. Completely.

Please get your facts straight before you open your mouth, P.

    27. 27

      FUCK THESE PARASITES!

    28. 28

Perez - Jets really don't make the man. Did you consider the fact that these jets act as offices as well? If these men fly commercial they are simply wasting time. It seems ridiculous to have a CEO of a major and important company simply sitting in the airport waiting for his flight when it's the middle of the week and he could be somewhere working. This is stupid. The jets aren't the problem. As usual though, your good at distracting moronic people from the real issues. Look, I've never even sat in first class let alone flown in a private jet–but I'd like to think that if I was the head of a major company my time would be better spent arriving somewhere than waiting for another friggin delay….these idiots who say they shouldn't have one plane..come on, really? because we are going to give them 7 bill each to sit on a runway and wait??? unlike us who have the time and luxury to surf the web and comment, time is very valuable, almost as valuable as currency itself, thus it should not be wasted.

    29. 29

Realistically, all these greedy bastards should be fired. They have sucked at their jobs for years. Just useless corporate numbnuts who do nothing but steal from the working class blame everything on union workers meanwhile they are taking millions upon millions of dollars everyear. They should be paid $1 dollar salaries for the next five years and NOOOO bonuses. Their upper management, CFO, CIO, etc should take 30% salary AND forgo their bonuses. The UAW needs better PR. The automotive giants need to take responsibility for making SHITTTTY, huge, gas gusling cars that are not practical an inepensive. These 3 corporate stooges are arrogant and they have no clue on good car design. But these three stooges are soo arrogant they won't listen and we'll be back for more money!

    30. 30

Um..yeah..read this on Yahoo this morning.

    31. 31

I am so sick of Perez making comments about the auto industry. You have no idea what these three companies contribute to the US. Without them, we will see an immediate windfall of approximately 60 million Americans without jobs. THe factories that create the iron and parts for these vehicles support our country in war both financially and in industry. Making a car isn't as simple as making in hybrid, it takes years to transform plants and machinery to make the necessary adjustments and produce quality vehichles. Unlike Japan which receives money from their Federal Gov't to transfer thse plants over, the Big 3 operate soley on their own revenue…resulting in a slower process. Support America, Buy American and Support the Big 3…without them we are screwed!

    32. 32

It's a PR gesture because there was such public outrage when they arrived in them asking for money the last time. They wouldn't have cut them otherwise….shows how incompetent and out of touch they are.

    33. 33

      DICKHEADS!

    35. 35

Re: JennBunny – Though I am never sick of perez, very valid point JennBunny— also does it ever concern anyone that Henry Paulson, the man making the bailouts happen, was once the CEO of Goldman Sachs!? IF he were the former CEO of GM or Ford or Chrysler, none of these meetings would be held today and the ink of the check for the bailout would already be dry! Just sayin!

    36. 36

i'm sorry perez but seriously, they government is giving financial agencies huge handouts and they don't even supply a product, the auto industry giants all sacrificed their bonuses so i'm SOO sorry that they took a corporate jet too DC big deal! the financial agencies took a huge vacation after they got their money. cut detroit some slack, their really hurting. and at least car companies provide something, and if the auto industry dies, you better bet everything else will too.

    37. 37

fuck you my dad works for the company that owns chrysler!

    38. 38

also, my neigbor is edsel fords grand son, so suck it!

    39. 39

CHRYSLER ACTUALLY SOLD ALL OF THEIR JETS ABOUT A YEAR AGO!!!!!

    40. 40

God you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

    41. 41

      Chrysler does suck

    43. 43

NO BAILOUT FOR PRIVATE JET FLYERS!

    44. 44

Who the hell are they going to sell them to? No one has any money these days. Nice idea, but I just don't see how they're going to execute it.

    45. 45

Leona why are you hating on mama? She's cool people. What's up with that?

    46. 46

      Re: mamajud
So he likes you to strap it on and take a go at him? Is that why you like ass? I get it.

    47. 47

      Re: topper – haha…..not quite

    48. 48

Givng up their salaries is a joke. What about the fat bonuses they get every year? These are nothing but fat cats who have run their companies into the ground because of their greed. They only "care" about their employees now when it means they may go bankrupt.

      49

Last week I was listening to an interview with William Ford III (I think it was III) and he was talking about the first meeting that happened recently. When Congress asked his CEO, Alan Mulally if he would consider a paycut from his $25M salary, Alan's response was "I think I'm fine where I am". Ford (the company and the man) were not pleased with his answer. Ford actually said they have a good "cushion" right now, and were actually going to Congress to ask for a line of credit _should_ they require it in the near future. They aren't looking for a bailout right now…..but if in the future, until the economy stablilizes, if they need assistance, they want to know they have the support of Congress.

Ford III also said that each of the big three had their own issues or stories to present to Congress, but Congress was looping all three into one big pot which, Ford said, wasn't fair to the Ford Motor Company. But now Mulally said he'd take a $1/year salary if need be……..

man, we feel sorry for the flight attendants that will have to wait on these sorry bastards (or their families~their wives are probably bitches!) when they fly first class!
      $
      $
      $

    51. 51

The news agencies are reporting that Chrysler doesn't actually own it's own jets, so they have nothing to sell. They use private air services.

    52. 52

isn't it something that they decided to sell them AFTER their audacity to fly them to Washington was pointed out?!?! It means nothing.

    53. 53

Re: Kiwi – What an ass! you bet the family told him to get back there and tell them he'd take a pay cut!

    54. 54

Well…I dont see anyone bitching about AIG using the bailout money to go on their $300000 vacations. That's way worse than flying corporate jets. It's cheaper in the long run to run corporate jets, but I guess know one wants to look at that.

    55. 55

Has anyone tried to buy a car from one their sales people - they want to nickle and dime u to pay the full sticker price MSRP - so I walked away from a potential SUV sale and went with a Nissan - hey maybe they should offer some training classes to their sales people that when your buying a new $40K vehicle and the sales people don't want to budge for a mere 1500 bucks then it truly is their loss.

    56. Galen says – reply to this

      56

If they need to travel let them drive. I mean they run car companies for christ sakes.

    57. 57

First off, did you read the rest of the report? They are "cash poor."
Secondly, you do realize that Chrysler hasn't SUBMITTED their plan, right? It's not that they're not going to have jets, it's that they haven't given Congress their plan.
Thirdly, you do realize that when you randomly jump to conclusions like "Chrysler SUCKS" that you sound like a moron, right?

    58. 58

      Re: Galen

FYI, it's not possible to drive to Japan.
And Wagoner did drive to DC.

    59. 59

GM can't sell the planes. They don't own them!!!-they lease them.!!! Facts bud, doesn't seem to be something you look for. Wouldn't be any story in facts now would there?

    60. 60

Perez. You're a fucking moron. Firstly, it will cost the companies extra money to bring along security now for the CEOs, which is extremely costly-almost as costly as a private jet to fly everyone first class now that they have to bring along. Secondly, the private jets served as mobile offices for the company, so now that option is out of the way as well. Thirdly, Chrysler is owned privately and they are the most responsible when it comes to paying loans back out of all the auto companies. I don't understand how their PR people couldn't have made a better case FOR the use of the jets…it's not even that big of a deal considering the fact that their bailouts all have strings attached, they have to come up with a proposal, while fucking AGI and shit has to do nothing and gets free money and basically gets their ass kissed by the government…

    61. 61

During WW 2 companies retooled to make whatever was needed for the war effort. Now, if the car companies want my money, they (at least one) better use it to retool their plants and begin producing solar panels. Helps us win the war on terror. It makes green resources available and affordable on a mass scale.

    62. 62

Okay, set the jets aside. I feel it's my duty to enlighten you to the concept of MAYBE if these companies were not having to completely redo their plants and cars to go green, they would not have lost so much money. They can't afford the new criteria.

    63. 63

wow its great…….Am happy to hear it…..

    64. 64

Did any of you ever see Bowling for Columbine? In it, Michael Moore takes you back to Flint, MI. Flint was formally one of the wealthiest communities in the country, due primarily to the Automotive industry and neighboring industrial fields. In the early 80's, when the Big 3 went bankrupt, following the oil shortfall, Flint virtually disappeared to the rest of the world. It now consists of rundown buildings with the streets a virtual urban jungle in the most extreme sense.

    65. 65

Keep in mind Flint is 1/3 the size of Detroit. In addition, the Metropolitan area of Detroit, is one of the largest in the country. Our state has suffered so much already because of this. The rest of the country thinks there is a recession, in Detroit, we are already in a Depression. 62% of homes are being forclosed on, unemployment is at 12%!!!! This is ridiculous! When you buy a Toyota you are sending 50 employees of American car companies into poverty.

Bailouts are necessary during economic hardship, it is because the gov't did not do this is the 20s that we entered the Depression. If anyone recalls their history books, the only thing that saved us from the Depression was WWII and the industrial boom it surged (which by the way, 70% of all weaponry, tanks and war vehicles were made in Detroit for that war).

Don't think about the Big 3 being stupid, hate them all you want, but don't punish the people, the ones who stand on those lines EVERYDAY trying to make a living like the rest of us. Save Detroit, Save the Country.

    66. 66

Stick to celebrity gossip please. I read this website for a fun distraction at least once a day. Please stop commenting about the auto industry. Its depressing enough to see how it is effecting everyone's everyday life (here in Michigan). I don't want to come to you "gossip" website and read your insensitive comments. It must be nice to live in an area and have a job that is not affected by the auto industry…

    67. 67

UM dipshit, do you know ANYTHING about the history of Chrysler the past 5 years? PEople have been using it for their personal spending sprees and then selling it off. Chrysler is the poorest of them all.

      Idiot.

    68. 68

Re: ruffryderemi Thirdly, you do realize that when you randomly jump to conclusions like "Chrysler SUCKS" that you sound like a moron, right?

He doesn't care because he doesn't know any better. For someone that is supposed to know these things, Perez is pretty naive.

The only thing he cares about is gayness and lame one hit wonder music.
