What he said makes absolutely no sense. I think his band would be better off if he actually had an origional thought in his head. He should start there. I have no ill feelings towards any bands or artists like I do this one. They are the most transparent band. They so badly want to be taken seriously and so badly want to be profound. It comes off hysterically bad. But I guess some people are falling for it.
Also, if he doesn't want to be like bands from NY (again, I have no clue what point he was trying to make so I'm not sure if that's what he means) he should stop stealing ideas from MGMT.
