Top 10 Worst Movies Of 2008

wenn1915877.jpg

And yet again we have another "list"!

This time, the New York Post has compiled the Top 10 Worst Movies of 2008.

And in the top this year is the obvious What Happens In Vegas with Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz.

Also on the list is Mad Money featuring Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah.

But, the number 1 worst movie of 2008 goes to Mike Myers' The Love Guru. We bet it was because of Jessica Alba.

Check out the entire top 10 list….after the jump!

10. "Beverly Hills Chihuahua"
We thought the whole talking dogs fad was over, but apparently, it's not. George Lopez and Drew Barrymore provide voices for this 2008 flop about zany California dogs.

9. "Witless Protection"
Larry the Cable Guy followed up 2006's "Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector" and 2007's "Delta Farce" with this "Witless" effort. Larry's 0-for-3. So bad, we didn't bother reviewing it.

8. "Rambo"
Did we need another "Rambo"? No, but Sly Stallone gave us one - an ultra-gorefest, even by Stallone standards.

7. "You Don't Mess With The Zohan"
Adam Sandler makes the list with his tale of an Israeli special forces soldier who dreams of being a hairstylist. Childish humor from a familiar source.

6. "Babylon A.D."
Starring master thespian Vin Diesel, "Babylon A.D." went way over budget and there were reports of ego clashes between Diesel and director Mathieu Kassovitz. Released six months after its original release date, the film wasn't even screened for New York critics.

5. "10,000 B.C."
"10,000 B.C" could be called the movie the Museum of Natural History doesn't want you to see. Full of special effects but lacking a shred of authenticity, the film was widely panned.

4. "What Happens In Vegas"
"What Happens In Vegas" stars Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz as two people who get married after a booze-fueled night in Sin City, and the wacky adventures that transpire after they also win a large sum of money. The easy joke is that this bomb should have stayed in Vegas. We took the easy way out.

3. "Mad Money"
With a trio of actresses like Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah, what could have possibly gone wrong with "Mad Money"? Everything, apparently. But mostly the fact that this comedy had no laughs.

2. "The Hottie & The Nottie"
Is it worth describing the plot to this Paris Hilton-starred stinker? We won't bother, because you shouldn't bother watching it. According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed less than $1.6 million as of Nov. 26, which sounds generous.

1. "The Love Guru"
Our number one worst movie is "The Love Guru," co-written and starring "SNL" alum Mike Myers as Guru Pitka, a man on a quest to become the #1 guru. Films like "Guru" and 2003's "The Cat in the Hat" are destroying all the comedy credibilty Myers built through the "Wayne's World" and "Austin Powers" films. Thank goodness for "Shrek." "Guru" also stars acting legends Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake.

  17. 17

The movie I thot would suck the most was "Role Models" but that movie was fucking funny. Four Christmases turned out to be bad, and I thought it would be great.
Love Guru wasn't that bad. I liked JT as Jock "le cock" Grande. Zohan was much worse IMO.

    18

    Yes, yes.. Cheap Amercian humor!

  19. 19

if you really saw bev hills chiHUAHUA or the sandler/meyers movies, you are seriously outdated in your humor…holy shit. people still watching snl from 1990 go watch dat shit.

  20. 20

why isn't balls of fury on this list???? answer: christopher walken.

  21. 21

Re: shenae.com – YOU'RE BACK????? TAKE YOUR MINI DRESS TO THE RUNWAY AND WORK IT BITCH! SHHHHANNNNNNNNAAAAYYYNNNNAAAAAYYYYYYY…loser twat.

  22. 22

Re: mamajud – fuck the movies.
    what a waste of money.
let's do a private screening love, in my theatre…….

  23. 23

    Ok FIRST!

THe Love Guru was an AWESOME MOVIE!!

    and SECOND

you americans cant see the humour in it because it is pure canadian humour, only played by a TRUE canadian actor. French canadian humour at that (hence the quebec accent in justin timberlake)…..

so you can all keep watching your "funny" cheap american movies while we keep on supporting our amazing ones

    Mike Myers!!

  24. 24

They got lazy on #10 with the kiddie flick.

  25. 25

you mean witness protection, not witless…
bahaha camilla belle is not hot, but she looked better with dreads and blue eyes then she does with straight hair and her natural eye colour.. and she looks like she could be related to joe, odd

  26. 26

what happens in vegas was pretty good. what about tropic thunder? that movie was terrible

  27. 27

How can that be!? I thought the Chihuahua movie was the movie of the summer!

  28. 28

i thing beverly hills chihuahua was pretty cute i liked it and would love to watch it again

  29. 29

Tropic Thunder should be on this list. It wasn't funny at all, it was painful to watch.

  30. 30

i liked "what happens in vegas", they had the funniest scene where they were in therapy and ashton was trying to accuse cameron of beating him up, hilarious!

  31. 31

"what happen in vegas" was good. make up ur fucking mind on "beverly hills chihuahua" and "what happen in vegas". i actually went to LA to watch chihuahua and fucking loved iiiiiiiiiiiiit

  32. 32

Re: rachaelmarie – listen rachel welsh or whatever the fuck you're canook name is…shut the fuck up…meyers is old washed up shit that shrek shat out in that green twat of pheona's…go back to canada where no one knows who the fuck you are.

  33. 33

I agree with most, especially that Love Guru crap. What Happens in Vegas was actually a good comedy. it didn't reinvent anything, but it provided few good laughs.

  34. 34

    Re: Milky Milky – it's a date

  35. 35

I'm really surprised you added Rambo to this list; with such an accurate list…(besides maybe 10,000 B.C. - the only reason this was panned by critics, is b/c of the title…it was meant to be a fiction fantasy movie, but the title causes critics to blow their nose at it)….with such an accurate list, I find your lack of taste flawed. John Rambo was very similar to Stallone's final sequel of Rocky Balboa, in the sense that it gave a realistic closure (well maybe not in Rambo's case, as apparently they are planning yet another sequel, which I actually do think is a mistake) and an accurate authenticity to each story, representing his age, his overall weariness on account of it, but ultimately his unending heroism and strength. In each movie, he overcomes his sense of something….in Rambo, his aging pride…in Rocky, his desire for dignity I suppose…but in both it was clear that each movie was a personal endeavor for Stallone.

  36. 36

they deserve to be up there… i did not get anywhere near these movies… especially that burro(Guru) movie… ugh…

  37. 37

are you kidding me… what happens in vegas was a great movie!

  38. 38

I wanted make another note, that Sylvester has always been a very intelligent guy, written some books, and has a great deal of integrity, which I think shows in his directing. I personally loved the extra gore in this sequel, and the characters, while not as filled in as I would have liked (their holy pursuit of doing Godly humanitarianism throughout the film was perhaps more than a bit shallow, but at least they learned a valuable lesson as a result of all the bloodshed in the the end, lol). Overall, I really don't think you thought this entry through when you included Rambo in it.

  39. Yokel says – reply to this

    39

    rambo was amazing

  40. 40

Mad Money definitely does not belong on that list. How can thy say it had no laughs? There were definitely other crappy movies this year that came out that belong on this list more than Mad Money.

  41. 41

    "Acting Legends"….LOL…..lovesit!!!

  42. 42

Re: rachaelmarie – STFU…DAMN YOU'RE AN ANNOYING MORON!

  43. 43

Re: britbrit1311 – I agree with you 100%! I really liked What Happens In Vegas– just bought it, actually! And as for Tropic Thunder, my husband and I walked out on that one halfway through…what a waste of money! That one should have definitely been on the list.

  44. 44

MAMA MIA - needed to be on the list. It left my ears BLEEDING.

  45. 45

    Ymi, b. 23 - 25, 46

  46. 46

Re: rachaelmarie – TAKE HIM BACK YOU WHORE!!! YOU STUPID CANADIAN CUNT!!
WHY IS HE HERE IN THE U.S. THEN?
BECAUSE CANADA SUCKS AND ANYONE WHO HAS ANY TALENT FLOCKS TO THE STATES!
    WHORE!

  47. 47

Re: mamajud – i have your room ready. drinks and smokes (even the illegal kind) are on tap.
only you bring out the 'nice' in me…..
HOWEVER, THE REST OF THESE FUCKING ASSHOLES…….
    ok, sorry….
    regardless sweet love,
like i said, room - CHECK
    smokes (all kinds) CHECK
and a lovely restaurant i won't name names, but it is wonderful!

  48. 48

I liked What Happens in Vegas, the chihuahua movie, and I loved Mad MOney! Stupid lists!

  49. 49

Babylon A.D. on the other hand…haha, that was fucking pathetic. Vinnie, while a guilty pleasure of mine, hasn't actually done a half-decent movie since "Find Me Guilty". Pitch Black and his short bit in Saving Private Ryan are pretty much the only other works that I consider quality film. Chronicles of Riddick, while a D&D nerd's wet dream, and a fun action movie…was definitely not what I expected in my anticipation of a Riddick sequel….but it sure as all hell beat Babylon A.D….my God, what an absolutely pieced-together POS that was.

You're wrong on the Rambo, my friend. There were lots of other choices better suited this year to be included in this list. I'm 100% Lohan did at least one movie in 2008 you could have tossed in here, if for nothing more than to get some loathing LoMAN comments.

This is my first time commenting (although I've been a reader for over a year now) and already have made a few on this same post. Figured I wouldn't bother, until I actually had an intelligent thought to contribute. You don't get a whole of that here unfortunately.

  50. 50

Re: bluwizpee – I HAD TO TAKE MY NEPHEW TO CHIHUAHUA..WASN'T TOO BAD!

  51. 51

I DIDN'T SEE ANY OF THEM!

  52. 52

Re: mariarockshardcore – maria….your parents should be monitoring your internet activity………DO YOU HAVE PARENTS????????

  53. 53

I loved "You Don't Mess With The Zohan!"
It was funny, cute, and had a good message. Those kinds of movies are underrated.

  54. 54

Re: Milky Milky – one of these days…..can't wait

  55. 55

Don't mess with the Zohan was the funniest movie of the year. Woof!

  56. 56

I'd say that (with the exception of Bill Murray and Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold) any film that is headlined (as opposed to a supporting role) by a former SNL actor, is going to suck cocks in hell.

  57. 57

Re: bluwizpee – Um, okay, that and it wasn't released in 2008, ya moron.

That said, 2008 isn't technically over. I'm pretty sure there are others that could have squeezed into that list. *cough* Marley & Me *cough* Valkyrie *cough, cough*

  58. 58

I thought "what happens in vegas" was really funny! and the ending was cute too.

  59. 59

AVP Requiem, boy did they fuck up that franchise!

  60. 60

Yes The Love Guru was a bad movie, a very bad one, but i still almost fell over laughing. Maybe thats because of my deep love of Austin Powers? There were mannnyyy similar kinds of jokes (duh!).

  61. 61

Since when did J.T. become a screen legend? Jessica Alba doesn't even really fall in that category long enough Justin!! Also, I happened to have loved Babylon & The Love Guru!

  62. 62

Overall I agree, but "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" should have been closer to the one spot…like number two.

  63. 63

Beverly Hills Chihuahua was awesome! What happens in Vegas was good too! Everything else did suck!

  64. itis says – reply to this

    64

"The Happening" should be on this list!

  65. 65

    The Love Guru was pathetic…

  66. 66

Um Beverly Hills Chihuahua was far from a flop - it was number 1 at the box office 2 weeks in a row and it made 100 mil worldwide and only cost 20 Mil to make…Daily News should get the facts straight.

  67. 67

yeeeah most of em aree pretty laame lol exceptt i haad no problem watching 10 000 bc i thought it was pretty good..

  68. 68

    Perez Hates Me ^^

  69. 69

Your being unfair to the chihuahuas.

  70. 70

I would put "Zohan" at number 1 and "Guru" at number 2, but otherwise, this list hits them all. The worst part of "Guru" was JT, not JA.

  71. 71

"The Guru also stars acting legends Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake." muahahaha, so true, legends in their time

  72. 72

Ha! Justin Timberlake is box office poison. I heard Don't Mess With the Zohan was pretty funny though. Haven't seen it.

  73. 73

Re: muldscul – First of all it's the New York Post. Second of all, the list is for horrible movies not movies that didn't make money. When are people going to learn that Americans love spending their hard earned money on worthless garbage? Look at what's on the pop charts.

  74. 74

I agree. The Love Guru was a shit sandwich… the worst of the year by far. I'm also happy to see 10,000 BC is on the list too because not only did it suck a huge cock, it made the masses more stupid than they alread are.

  75. 75

Paris Hilton's movie was the #2 shiteous movie. Perez didn't mention it in his intro though, did he? I'm surprised he didn't change the list and take it out!

  76. 76

I think the love guru was funny.. I laughed a lot during that movie, it was definitely stupid but it was still funny…..

Wow, They Called Beverly Hills Chihuaua a Flop? It Grossed 80 Milllion at The Box Office This Summer..what a Flop!

  78. 78

    Bev. Hills Chihuahua was good!!

  79. 79

The Love Guru… was a good funny movie… Justin as a French Canadian Hockey player… just fantastik!!!
10,000 BC was a visually stunning movie… who cares if it was acurate…

  80. 80

Thank god I didn't waste my money seeing any of these POS's. All I care is that "Revolutionary Road" with LEO an KATE is coming out in 3 weeks!!! Oscar time!

  81. 81

I liked these, #4 especially. The dog show made tons of money so it wasn't necessarily a "flop"

    4. "What Happens In Vegas"

    3. "Mad Money"

    2. "The Hottie & The Nottie"

  82. 82

    Mad Money was good!!!!

  83. 83

uhm. I really liked 10.000 Bc and what happens in vegas..
the other films doesnt seemed much fun to me, but these two were nice!

  84. 84

Actually, Perez, Chihuahua was a hit.
According to imdb it made $91,614,153 (USA) (23 November 2008)

That's darn good for a movie about dogs… and it was #1 two weeks in a row.

    Get your facts straight, darlin.

  85. 85

The comments here prove that the general public has shit taste in movies.

The fact that some of you idiots enjoyed the movies on the list doesn't make them good.

  86. 86

p.s. - Perez didn't compile this list, the New York Post did. Reading comprehension. It's tough, I know, but some of you guys should try it out.

  87. 87

I actually thought "What happens in Vegas" was kinda cute, & funny for what it was. The two friends were the best part.

  88. 88

Awwww:( I loved "What Happens in Vegas"! Bummer. I like a light-hearted good laugh once in awhile. Not every movie is made to win an Oscar. I agree with "The Love Guru" though…it was crappy.

  89. 89

No Indiana Jones???? That was shiteous!!

  90. 90

Re: Georgia_Girl – thanks im glad someone else agrees!

  91. 91

PEREZ YOU NEED TO STOP HATING ON JESSICA ALBA…EVERY FUCKIN LITTLE THING THAT HAS TO DO WITH HER YOU ALWAYSSSSS HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING SO SHUT THE HELLL UPPPPP

  92. 92

Guess what you douchebag, What Happens In Vegas made TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS. And you can see from the comments here that people LIKED it. I am so sick of your Ashton hating, your Demi hating, and the bashig of their kids. It's uncalled for. His movie Spread just got into Sundance - Sat 9:30pm premiere - one of the best slots. I hope I see you there so I can kick your ass you fat fuck.

  93. 93

    WHERE'S TWILIGHT?

    It's not on this list!

  94. 94

what the hell are these people smoking?!?!?!? what happens in vegas was one of the best movies i've seen in quite sometime!!! it was hilarious!!! =D
