"Pets Alive is a no-kill animal shelter, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place animals in need. Victims of neglect, abuse, and violence, many of them have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations.
Animals at the sanctuary range from dogs and cats to farm animals, exotic birds, and many others. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care."

I live in the city where this shelter is located. Im glad that they are getting the publicity!
Pets Alive is an excellent organization. They know how to rehab animals properly, and they do a great job of it.

Don't breed or buy while shelter dogs and cats are being killed by the millions!
This is a great animal sanctuary, it's in my local area.
What a thoughtful cause!!! I adore animals and own for cats that were all abandoned and neglected. I would take in so many more, including dogs, if only I could.

While I am sure it is a great organization, people need to realize that 'no kill' isn't any better than any other rescue/shelter. They are limited admission, only accepting those who they can adopt or rehab, this does nothing for the truely sick, aggressive, or hard to place animals. Shelters/rescues that euthanize are needed to accept every animal that needs help..
Re: nemesisdivina – Actually they DO have animals that no one else would take. There are quite a few who will never get homes but are still well cared for by the staff and volunteers. One dog recently they were out of ideas on what to do with because she was so aggressive and a trainer from Best Friends came and she is now not 100% with people but she has come to trust us enough for her basic needs.
