Telecom giant AT&T announced today that they are cutting 12,000 jobs.

And, unfortunately, chemicals maker DuPont has also revealed that they will be eliminating 2,500 positions.

Boo!

      When I first got a CINGULAR phone, before it was At&t, text messaging cost 10 cents in and 10 cents out… now it's 20 cents in and 20 cents out only about 2 years later. Sucks when you don't have enough money to get unlimited.

      Both of my parents work for AT&T and they are actually really good to their employees. They don't "cut" jobs, what they do is offer a deal to get people to retire. You have to have 55 years (age + years of service) to retire, and they will offer like an extra 2 years. Then everyone who is eligible can retire (and they have a really good retirement plan). They keep doing this until they've reached the 12,000 mark….so no one is actually getting "fired"

      Perez, I come to your site to get away from the real world of layoffs, and bad mortgages, and an economy that's in the toilet.       K, I'll let you in on a secret. Call At&T and tell them that you need to drop some services on your account and they will drop the price of your phone bill. They cut my $60.00 and I didn't even have to give up anything. More for Less..do it or you're stupid.
