Since Lily Allen's latest rant can't be blamed on booze - she's allegedly sober - we'll categorize it as insecurity issues.
On Monday, the loudmouth British songstress lashed out at American singing sensation Katy Perry during a radio interview.
Here's what Lils had to say about dear Katy on the U.K. radio station Capital FM:
"I happen to know for a fact that she was an American version of me. She was signed by my label in America as, 'We need to find something controversial and kooky like Lily Allen.' And then they found her… I think the lyrics and stuff are a bit crass… When I met her I was bit frosty with her because someone asked her to describe herself. She's like, 'Aha, I'm like a fatter version of Amy Winehouse and a skinner version of Lily Allen!'. It's like, you're not English and you don't write your own songs, shut up!"
But, Lily, Katy does write her own songs!

I don't know if either of them write their own MUSIC, which is the actual DIFFICULT part of songwriting. Even fucking idiots can write lyrics — look at hip hop, rap, and country music for example. And I have to admit, Lily's lyrics are clever and have a bit more substance than Katy's bad 3rd grade poetry lyrics. They both are pretty annoying, but I think Lily DOES edge out Katy in the talent area.

I love Lily Allen. She writes her own songs, which also happen to have substance and subtlety. It is WORSE that Katy writes her own songs, given that they are completely vapid and simplistic. And mildly homophobic, might I add. I am still scratching my head over why people think she is controversial, representing some sort of new youth sexuality movement, when what she was saying was that even though she considered it completely immoral and inappropriate behavior, she kissed a girl, and happened not to be repulsed and disgusted by it. I do happen to tolerate some of her songs based on their beats, however.

I'm pretty sure those people base their opinions on "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot N Cold." On that note, you have not heard enough of her music to exclaim that her music is shit. A lot of people like it or else she would have never sold more than 500 000 copies of her album.
On the other hand, people do have their own taste in music. There is no such thing as a universal musical genre.

i liked katy's acoustic version of "mannequin" which is honestly the first song i heard of hers, so i thought her whole cd would be awesome & bought it & was sadly dissapointed. the "mannequin" song i fell in love with was all super-pop-electronically-altered crap. i like them both, but artistically lily is amazing.
she does need to not talk bad as much, but in the end she earns it with the kind of songs she turns out.
