      they are probably not doing well because the majority of timeshares are ways of soaking money out of people. 'You OWN a share of the property.' ( that can't be used as equity and has no real worth) 'You get YOUR room/suite each time you come down here' (as long as you take your week, but does it really matter? they are all identical) 'You can trade your week off to one of our hundreds of properties' (as long as someone is giving up their week where you want to go and your week has the same 'value' as the week you want). All for only $10,000!!!!! (which, if you try to sell it, you MIGHT get $4,000) plus property taxes (wait, I am not supposed to tell you that, read the contract) and yearly maintainance costs of ***** (the same amount, you can rent a nice hotel room for the same time period and will save you $10k at 9% interest for 15 years) Imagine, you own it forever OR until the unit goes bankrupt!!!! yeah!!!!!!!! IS ANYONE SURPRISED THAT EVENTUALLY THIS BUSINESS HIT ROCK BOTTOM.?

      As others have said we are not even close to hitting bottom. I don't think we are going to hit botton until more then 1/2 the country is out of work and every single sector of the workforce has been hit. Unfortunately the new government that is coming in will not be able to do anything to stop this. I really feel a lot of these layoffs are knee-jerk reactions, you know the head cheeses that don't want to have to part with their millions (or billions) so they layoff the portion of the workforce that can't afford to be out of work or afford to pay for their homes or feed their families. This is all so screwed up!

      Unfortunately, as a corollary of the credit crunch, consumer spending is down across the board. This is exacerbated by the fact that companies are laying off thousands as a cut-back measure, hence the unemployment rate is rocking ever upwards. As far as hitting bottom, I imagine that it will get worse before it gets better, but if we can keep the auto industries in tact, clear up the credit mess so people can resume getting loans, and the banking industry gets some damn oversight, along with the job creation proposal by the Obama administration, we (hopefully) should be in good shape. Times are tough folks. We live in an America right now that has not had to do without in a very, very long time. If it means not being able to buy that new flat screen for a year or so, that's the price we pay for capitalism. On the flipside, my grandparents grew up so poor that they had to break into potato fields and sleep in the water ravines to shiver themselves to sleep. It could be worse… it could be a lot worse.

      I worked for Wyndham for a day. I'd call people to get them to buy timeshares…well with this economy, nobody has time to go on a vacation because they need that vacation time to work so they can have a roof over their head…a real roof not a timeshare roof…so it's no surprise. BTW stop being SO fucking rude to Perez. He's just giving us news and it may not be important to you but what if someone reading this works for the company or knows someone who does…wow people are so RUDE….ily PEREZ!!!
