Office Depot announced today that it is closing 112 stores and cutting 2,200 jobs.
SOOOooooo many people have been laid off these past two weeks. Our heart goes out to them!
These are scary times.

Companies typically lay people off around the holidays. It just happens to be the end of the year and they need their numbers to look good so they don't get slammed even more in the stock market and so they can start the new year with a fresh, lean and mean outlook. Hopefully it will slow down as this year ends and the new year begins.
that is horrible news. it is making me sick. we all have to buckle down and tighten our purse strings. this is going to take a long time to dig ourselves out of this financial meltdown. but, HEY, I CANT WAIT TO SEE BRIDE WARS!

Why nothing about that dirty fucker in IL selling your boys seat. Funny how he says yesterday that he has not talked to the Gov, then they pull that interview from last week with his head guy and he says that Hussien has been in contact with the Gov. And all the same old shady names coming up. Can we impeach a total liar before he even takes office? This is just more pointing towards his lack of character. You seem to be giving a lot of sympthy to those that have been laid off the last 2 weeks, how about those of us that have been out of work even longer? I search every day, 7 days a week, over 9 hours a day for new employment but still haven't landed anything. I've applied for so many jobs it's disgusting and I haven't even gotten a call for an interview. I'm extremely qualified and have unreal job experience but it just doesn't matter. My unemployment benefits don't last much longer then I'm really going to be screwed. Give some of that sympthay to others like me who are in the same boat. This economy sucks and no one in the Government gives a rats ass about it.
Companies got greedy in the last couple of years.
Not planning ahead and just opening store after store looking for more $$$ to roll in.
This is a result of it.

You people who keep saying that the republicans have screwed up this country for the last 8 years, please tell me how? These buisnesses have no one to blame but themselves. They got greedy, they hired to many people & they wanted to pay themselves first before making sure the business had enough money. I dont feel sorry for them one bit, I kinda feel sorry for the employees but they need to pull up the boot straps and get back out there and find some place else to work.

I am pissed. Thanx to this fuck-tastic econmy, my boyfriend just lost a really great paying job, so i'm fucking pissed! I lost my job thanx to crap ass economy a few months ago and cant seem to get another one and now, less than a week till Christmas, my boyfriend has lost a great paying job, MERRY FUCKIN' CHRISTMAS!! I HATE THE ECONOMY!!!
