With a PETA-themed coffin!
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals approached Dienna Genther of The Old Pine Box in New Mexico to create a line of coffins, and, voila - PETA coffins.
Genther initially though they wanted pet coffins (which her company supplies), but later realized they wanted human coffins.
The coffins are made especially earth friendly, made of wood with no screws, nails, hinges or animal-based glues.
Genther is not a PETA member herself, but says she supports the cause. The coffins range from $620 to $670, which includes a $75 donation.
Joan Calpin, a 40-year-old health insurance billing clerk and PETA member in Delaware, is already planning on finally resting in a PETA commercial.
She says, "It's a great idea. For myself and a lot of my friends who are activists, everybody always says, `All my life, I've helped animals.' Well, now you can say it even after your life is over. You're still helping animals."
What about the trees?
What PETA members really should be doing is offering their skins to help keep animals warm.

PETA affiliates are a joke. If they really want to help the environment when they die, they should be creamated(sp?). They are some of the most hypocritcal people out there. They say they are trying to protect animals but thats bull shit. They send hidden cameras into fur trade companies and slaughter houses just to document shit but they dont save any creature from death or torture. Instead they use their "power" to scare people into being repressed vegans like they are.
I dont diss on vegans or vegitarians. I know plenty who are this by choice and not because of PETA. But i dont eat pork or crabs/lobsters because I like the animals. Yet I get called a hypocrite because i am not full blown vegan. Seriously? WTF? Also I dont wear fur or leather either. I dont because i think fur is tacky and makes people look like fat idiots.

I LOVE IT! I've always said I didn't want an expensive coffin and here's a way to contribute to an organization I admire and save my loved ones from a $6,000 overpriced box. I think it's genius marketing/fundraising/self promotion/whatever, but definitely clever.

I am so glad to see the readers of Perez don't fall for the PeTA line of shit. PeTA is nothing more than a fund raising group hiding behind cute furry little kitties. In 2007 PeTa raised almost 30 million in donations and killed 97% of the animals left in their care. Did you catch that? PeTA, with an annual budget of 30 million uses those funds to KILL 97% of the animals left in their permanent care. There is so much wrong with PeTA. Peta-sucks.com has a lot of information about PeTA and there are many sites on the internet that expose the hypocrisy of PeTA. Do some research, stop sending them money.
I don't wear fur. I don't like fur. I don't like hurting animals senselessly. But this is beyond insane. "Told you I wouldn't be caught dead in fur"?!?!?!?!
