Personally, as a history buff, i'll be going to see his new film because it looks awesome. I could care less if he's a scientologist; is it any more bizzare than any number of things that happen in hollyweird?
Is it me or is this a serious case of image reconstruction going on here? I *LOVED* TC, was an ardent fan and went to all his movies, and then when he went completely whipding in 2005 I just couldn't bear him anymore…I mean come on ,all the Scientology proselytizing was just sick inducing!
That said, he looks good, he looks humble and he looks like a guy who never expected his reputation to plummet down the dreaded dumper as quickly as it did…in truth, the past few years have probably done him a lot of good. Now his name doesn't necessarily mean an automatic hit movie, as was proven by 'Lions for Lambs' (but how dry was that? I mean, you'd need a serious amount of KY to get that one going..) and of course he has 'Valkyrie' to promote. I actually hope it's a good movie, he's an astonishing actor when he's on form and I actually think the older he gets, the better looking he is (look at Brad Pitt for another example, clit-teasing 'tache aside!) but there's a lot riding on this one. One final point, is it me or does he look really ill and drained here? What's with the weight loss- is it a movie role?
