Twilight Cast Upheaval! Who's In? And Who's OUT?????

There seems to be a lot of talk and UNCERTAINTY surrounding the new Twilight sequel, New Moon.

So much so that new director Chris Weitz and even author Stephenie Meyer had to release statements explaining the situation.

But what about the reports that the studio, Summit, doesn't want to re-hire "baby-faced" Taylor Lautner as Jacob. Apparently, they don't think he has what it takes to play the werewolf love interest/lead in New Moon.

The statements released didn't confirm his return.

That was NOT an oversight!

Now, reports are that the 26 year-old actor Michael Copon, from Scorpion King 2 (above, bottom), is one of the several actors director Weitz is considering to play the new and larger Jacob Black role.

A rep for Copon said they are making all efforts to land this gig. Even Copon is taking to self-advertisement by changing his Facebook status to messages such as "Michael Copon in a Twilight Zone!" and "Michael Copon is the older Jacob Black!" His rep confirmed that the Facebook is indeed Copon's.

Hey, whatever it takes to be noticed!

Even Summit confirmed that omitting Launter from the release wasn't an error. A rep said, "The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made."

Drama!!!

Additionally, 27-year-old Prince Caspian star Ben Barnes is also campaigning for a role. He's said to be actiively trying to get the role of Aro, "a mind-reading vampire whose "New Moon" encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together." And, coincidentally enough, Barnes has the same manager as Copon and Twilight star Cam Gigandet.

We smell a big paycheck coming in for their manager!

But even when a lead for Jacob has been cast, director Weitz is only left with about 12 weeks until filming starts.

There you have it Twilight fans!

    I think it depends on whether Taylor can bulk it up for New Moon. Even though Michael Copon looks the part of the older, bigger Jacob his acting skills are a bit questionable for such a big role. I would love Steven Strait to play Jacob but they need someone that that has a bit of a darker skin tone for the role. They could put make up on him, but i think he would look weird haha.

    Michael Capon is one of the worst actors in everything he's in! He made the rest of the cast of One Tree Hill look Academy Award winners. He will poison the chemistry between Bella and Jacob if he is casted. Steven Straight was originally intended for the role but was too old. Hopefully they do themselves a favor and go back to him. At least he can act!

    Re: ashleyy233 – Are you stoooooopid! The entire second book is Bella and Jacob for 3/4 of the book. So Jacob has a huge role. Not so much in Twilight, but in New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn he is a pivotal character.

    Okay first I think Taylor should come back. Come on he can hit the gym! He did a great job with the first one. But if they absolutely have to replace him, that actor would probably be okay.

    Ben Barnes would be GREAT as Aro. I pictured Aro a bit older looking but when I look at him and some pictures from Prince Caspian I think he'd do a great job.

    My only concern is that they don't rewrite the entire story to keep the screaming 13 year olds happy and write Edward's character into the movie more than it was in the book. STAY TRUE TO THE BOOKS. Rob will be back front and center for Eclipse but give Jacob's story it's turn.

    I'm Aboriginal myself and I'm insulted that they are even "considering" Copon (if they really are). This isn't the 1940's, racism will not be accepted!

    Jacob is supposed to be WAAAAY taller in New Moon than in Twilight, thanks to a significant and plot altering growth spurt, so it would actually make sense to go with a taller, older looking actor for this second film (unless Taylor is going to shoot up a foot in the next twelve weeks!) I liked Taylor in the role, but Jacob's role in New Moon is HUGE! Just as big as Edwards', so this is a serious issue. They may want to go with a taller version of Taylor, like that guy on the bottom picture. They need a damn talented actor to pull this off, though!     okay, so when i found out taylor lautner might be replaced i was almost sick, there is no way i can accept Michael Copon as Jacob Black. when he was on one tree hill i specifically remember saying that he wasn't that good of an actor and now i can say that i hate that he might play my favorite twilight character. taylor may not "fill out" the character but i still think he'll do a great job
    but my thoughts on Ben Barnes, meh, i think there are other actors who might depict Aro better, but i dont mind him, i think he'll do good :)

    When i first heard about this i wasnt happy because i enjoyed the original actor for the rols of jacob but after thinking about it i really dont think Taylor would be able to fit the role of the taller and more muscular jacob in the second book i think Michael will do a much better job! and as for Ben filling the role of Aro that would be interesting… not a very big character but defiantly an important role….. i think the choices will all work out for the best
