Dennis Quaid and his wife have agreed to a $750,000 settlement with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an overdosing incident a year ago that nearly cost his infant twins their lives.

As part of the settlement Cedars-Sinai admits no wrongdoing.

The Quaids also attempted to sue Baxter Healthcare Corp. in Illinois - the company that manufactures the blood-thinning Heparin - for faulty labeling, but that case was dismissed.

Baxter Healthcare Corp., however, may yet pursue a lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai, which apparently over-administered Herapin to some patients in November 2007.

Yikes!

How often do you leave the doctor's worse than when you came in?!

that's really sad, at least their babies made it out ok. Perez many children are born perfectly fine and because of doctors error are left with a lifetime full of struggle…

  7. 7

That ain't shit for 2 babies that could of been completely drained of their blood.

W.C. Fields look alike - Dennis Quaid

nice wrinkles, add a couple of gin blossoms, and you're there!

I volunteer in a hospital, hence Candy Striper, they told us that hopsitals on one of the more dangerous institutions in be involved with. There are so many things that can go wrong, their incidence rates are through the roof. They even tell you to label the leg you are having operated on.

Interestingly, the safest? Nuclear Power Plants. Sounds crazy!! But they are run in a strict military style of safty procedures and no goofing around.

If you are going to report medical news, get it right…it's HEPARIN…not herapin

    It's not "doctor's worse"….learn some grammar.

I hope he donates the money to sick children or some kind of research.

The NICU unit at Cedars has some of the best people living in this world. They are selfless and give everything to those babies!
This was a horrible accident. I am thankful the Quaids seem to be doing fine.

You're kidding me?! Those people almost *killed* their kids and they're getting less than a million dollars in settlement? He's made more than that on movie roles he's done!! Seems like a really small settlement for almost killing someone's kids.

I was actually at Cedars that month for pneumonia in ICU. The nurses administered Heperin and the they seemed pretty aware of how much they administered. In the hospital's defense, the lawsuits should not have been directed towards it. I hate to point fingers, but the nurses who did this to the babies should be held negligent for their actions.

Glad the babies are ok. BTW, Dennis still hotttttt!

    it's called heparin, it's a bloodthinner.

Their was a couple in south texas whose twins died from getting this medicine, just a few weeks after his almost did.I hope Quaid will maybe help them and use his name to help them get some justice also.

Joker Baby, I agree that is not enough money for two babies. They were bleeding everywhere and could have died! This one of the best Medical Centers in LA! What a shame.

  26. 26

They SHOULD'VE gotten more! Maybe donate to the Illiterate Dr's charity! Idiots!

  27. 27

Poor babies. They deserve every penny they get. 1 in 80 doctors are fake, So I can only imagine how many "underclassmen" are fake as well!(ie:hospital staff who are in charge if administering meds)
