Taylor Speaks! To Meet With New Moon Director

Who's in and who's out?
In the revolving-door world of Twilight's sequel, New Moon, it could be anyone's guess!
After director Catherine Hardwicke was switched out for Chris Weitz, the next role up for grabs is that of Jacob, the primary love interest in the sequel.
Rumors were buzzing that Twilight's Taylor Lautner would but cut from the cast because (producers) Summit was looking for someone bigger and hunkier, someone like Michael Copon, to play the older Jacob Black.
Both actors are campaigning hard for the role, but no one has been confirmed yet.
In an MTV interview, Taylor says he's been working out since production on Twilight wrapped, putting on 19lbs and promising an additional 10lbs when filming beginings in 3 months, and wants to put to rest rumors that his agent has reached out to the special effects team of Benjamin Button to digitally enhance the 16-year-old's physique.
He adds, "As far as I know, I haven't been told 'no' yet, so it's still all up in the air."
It seems that Lautner is the fan favorite as well, with online polls and petitions showing overwhelming support for his return, for which Taylor says he's grateful.
In a new interview, Michael Copon is likewise hesitant to commit to anything and likewise puts to rest the Facebook campaign rumors, saying that the profile was a fake and has been since shut down.
But he does say that he feels the role is "perfect" for him and that he'd be "honored" to play the part!
They have 12 more weeks to figure it out!

Taylor should deff. keep the role as Jacob. Its not fair that someone has to give up their character/job because a new director comes in and doesn't like them. I think he is a very good spokesperson for the movie and fits how I viewed Jacob in the book. He is funny,gorgeous, and outgoing in public appearances and way more talkative then damn Robert Pattinson who plays Edward. I think that a person who plays in the first movie should play in all the movies. I hate seeing movies that have different actors playing ONE character. You wouldn't go changing the actor of Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter so don't go changing Jacob. Besides computer technology can do some crazy shiz to faces and height these days and trust me THEY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO DO IT.

I prefer Copon. He really is a better fit for the role. Sorry, Taylor, You don't really fit the part and the 2 mins you had in the first one really didn't show any acting ability especially for a lead part in the next one. Don't worry there will be more parts later.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but would say that I have seen Taylor's other stuff ( I have kids afterall) and I like him as an actor. With movies like this ( like with Harry Potter) I don't think it is EVER a good idea to replace the actors in a movie when the first in the series is a huge hit. It is confusing and they have already put out Twilight stuff with his likeness on it….I think it would be a bad move. Plus these Twilight fans are crazy! I wouldn't want to make them mad as the new director coming in. They made the movie do as well as it did. Not smart from a business POV.

people who have read the book know that when "taylor" has to start "changing" he grows to 6ft 7inches - thats probably the reason for the confusion in picking who will play the role. special effects can only do so much.
First, changing an actor is silly. People would be confused. Just use computer technology or smth!
Second, that new guy is not native american! Taylor might not be 100% native but he at least looks like one! Michael looks simply latino. I have nothing against latinos, but latinos and native americans are NOT the same!!! And any person with a minimum education can tell the difference.
Plus Michael looks to… sleezy. Ew.

I think Taylor is perfect for the Sam role. Besides I hate character changes in a movie…I know it's fake but it feels even more fake when the originals don't return. Don't eff with the formula movie makers…it never works!

Taylor would be fine for the beginning of the movie (before he actually makes the change). There is NO way he can play the post change Jacob. He has a baby face. They need to find a hunk of a man to play the part…that other guy won't cut it either.

Im a huge fan of the Twilight books, but as i read them i just could not picture Taylor as Jacob.

You can't change characters in a movie once they have already appeared as that person. Changing Jacob would piss everyone off and would make the movie suck. THis guy looks like a huge tool anyways.

A) They shouldn't have thought about this issue in Twilight because that is what Jacob was suppose to. He wasn't suppose to be THAT tall people, or built. So stop saying they should have thought about this.
B) When Jacob changes and ditches Bella for a while in new moon, he looks 100% different when he's back. It pretty much only makes since to me, at least, that there's a different Jacob after he changes. He is suppose to be a 16 year old boy who changes over night to look like a 27 year old. Because wear wolfs don't age so they have to reach their full maturity level… sorry it just makes since that theirs a new Jacob (:

can someone please explain to me why a native american actor is not being considered? I mean taylor is like 1/5 native american granted but michael douchepon is philipino! why is it so hard for hollywood to hire native american actors? i dont get what the big deal is, the only change that Jacob makes is that he cuts his hair and that he grows like 3 feet which can easily be done (ex: the way the showed the height differences between Hobbits and the others in LOTR, or Hagrid from HP, it can be done) Other than that his "baby face" goes away and Taylor lost his baby face a while ago. (compare sharkboy&lava girl to him now) He doesnt gain super muscles, his strength is just there and can be done with special effect. No need to recast. The movie needs to make up for how shitty the first one was and recasting a main role when he already has a fan base is really idiotic. Way to go Summit, I really hope in a few years some other company gets the rights and remakes it the RIGHT way.

i dont think that taylors acting in the first one is reason for judging, he wasn't given much to work with. Not to mention the character was very awkward in the first and the first half of the second. He doesn't really grow up until the change. I think some of the fans are thinking about Eclipse and Breaking Dawn Jacob, over little teeny and innocent Twilight Jacob.
Please, oh please, do not let Taylor be in the sequel. He's a terrible actor. And Michael Copon is way hotter.

He is who I pictured when I was reading the books and he is perfect for the part. That other actor wouldn't do justice. Jacob is supposed to be 15 not in his 20's. Yeah he is supposed to be kinda big and tall but that copon guy isnt all that big, and it's not like they didnt fudge on other stuff for the sake of the actor. Look at Rosalie. The actress was good but she wasnt tall or blond or any of that. it's movie magic.
