Disney Abandons Narnia
Disney and Walden Media have announced that the next Narnia movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, will be released without Disney's help.
Disney has apparently decided to no longer co-finance the movie with Walden.
So with Disney out of the picture, who will step in?
That will most likely be Fox, which currently helps market and distribute Walden material under the Fox Walden banner.
Though a partnership with Walden for the new Narnia movie will require a big investment.
The last two Narnia movies cost about $190 million each to make.
It seems the sales numbers scared off Disney, though. Reports show that the first flick made over $750 million worldwide back in 2005. The following movie made just about $440 million this year.
So are people still even interested in the Narnia trilogy?

Disney is going to regret leaving Narnia. I'm starting to hate Disney and their slutty wanna be pop stars for ex. Miley Cirus that have no talent. I hope the movie goes on as planned with the same quality as before. Now I'm starting to wonder if the release will even be later.

Just because the author is an ex-atheist turned Christian and simply has a theme of "good vs. evil" in the movie does not make it "christian propaganda". Whatever. Narnia doesn't need your cheap money to be a success anyway. I'm going to watch it with or without Disney's distribution.

The artwork surrounding that campaign was amazing, especially the first movie. Every little book cover etc… was beautiful! My favorite was Lucy opening the wardrobe.
These were my favorite books as a child. I still get chills reading them to my own children!

Also, they weren't into the Tallamarines(sp) for the resemblance to the Middle East.

I sure will. I just watched this last night! Good movie! Took my kids to see the first one. Love Liam Neeson voice as the Lion. That man can read a phone book and it will be a classic!

You bet your ass I will watch. The book series is the best children's book of all time, and a very enlightening read for adults as well. It' sad Disney is bowing out, then again, the forced the false romance in the second movie with Prince Caspian, so manybe the last movie will be more true to the book and lore.

hell yah i like the movies i got my sister the first and second for christmas.
Note to Perez: Narnia is a Septology. So there are 5 more books. Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, A Hose and his Boy, and The Last Battle.
I loved Narnia, the books and the movies. I am actually looking forward to seeing the next one especially since Voyage of the Dawn Treader was my favorite of the books. Good for Fox that Disney pulled out, they are as non-forward thinking as the companies that decided not to do Twilight (oops). Let's just hope they keep the production value up.
Prince Caspian wasnt the best book from the collection, there are a few better ones. hopefully they do keep making them!
Why doesn't WB get into it? They won't have anything after the Harry Potter franchise is through (after book seven hits the screens). They did a great job with the Potter films and I think they'd do equally well bringing the Narnia books to the screen. I really liked that series so I hope that whoever does the films stays close to the story in the books and doesn't make the movies suck, like Disney films usually do. I thought that "The Lion, The Witch and Tthe Wardrobe" was a great film but, honestly, I fell asleep halfway through "Prince Caspian" and never did see the 2nd half of it.

Oh definitely - I will see number three. I thought Prince Caspian was better than LW& theW and I loved number one as well. I bought the three disk special editions of both films and saw them both in the theatres. I am a total fan of the books & movies as well. They were very well done, no complaints at all and number two was better than number one! Please make the Magicians Nephew, Sawn Treader, Silver Chair, Last Battle….Don't stop now! the fans will come out!

I WIll I love the books! They need to go back and do the first book, but it is a lot of books to take on, but they did an amazing job with the first two movies, every book is great, please dont stop!

Hell Yeah!! I will definitely see Voyage of the Dawn Treader–Disney made a bad mistake–they are only interested in promoting the annoying and talentless Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers–those kids 15 minutes are almost up!! I hope another studio picks up the Narnia franchise and us Narnia fans will DEFINITELY show up to see it. Disney Sucks!!

well prince caspian would have done better if theyd bothered 2 promote it anywhere near as much as the first. id watch voyage coz it was my favourite in the series as a child, but this kinda stinks
It's Disney's fault Caspian didn't make more money since they picked the wrong release date. All the fans on the movie-based blogs are saying Caspian should never have been released in the Summer where it had to do battle with Iron Man, TDK, Indy, and the rest. It really needed to be released around Christmas-time where Despereaux would be its only competition. The first Narnia film was released December 9, 2005, which was the perfect time. Everyone seems to agree that the films have a holiday feel to them.

Absolutely not. I liked the first movie but didn't even bother seeing the second one. Maybe I should see the second one before deciding that the series sucks.
The timing was bad on Caspian. It wasn't a good summer flick. Kids don't see as many movies in summer. They can be with friends and play outside. They also don't have the peer pressure of being the only one who didn't see it. Dawn Treader is better than Caspian in my opinion. It has more adventure.
