Maniston Is King Of The Box Office

Brad Pitt and ex-wife Jennifer Aniston both had films come out on Christmas Day, and it's Man that came out on top. Sorta.
Marley And Me took in $14.6M on Thursday, while The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button made $11.8M.
However, Man's film was shown on 3,480 screens, as opposed to Brad's 2,988 venues screens. So, mathematically, the box office is tipped in Aniston's favor.
Plus, Benjamin Button is A LOT longer than Marley, so there are less screenings of Brad's film.
The true test will be the staying power of the film.
And, heck, Brad's already gotten a bunch of nominations for his work in the movie.
Man will likely get….a People's Choice Award????
Oh, yeah, Tom Cruise's Valkyrie is a dud.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. $4195 per screen for Aniston, and $3949 per screen for Button. Sorry, DO THE MATH hater. Doesn't matter how you slice it, Aniston did better. Plus you compared how many screens of Aniston, versus VENUES (aka possibly multiple screens, but you only counted venues) of the movies. Additionally, there were MORE screenings of Button on those screens than of Marley. Button runs 159 minutes, Marley 120. On most screens, Button ran back to back, Marley had 15-20 minute breaks between screenings and in a lot of cases shared the screen earlier in the day with family "kid" movies. Ah, fatso didn't do his homework, but I did.

I went to a screening of Ben Button a couple of months ago … unless the version people are nominating is different from the one I saw I just don't understand it. The movie was too long, several little subplots, some very awkward scenes, and "Forrest Gump"-like scenes. The make up and effects were great, but the acting wasn't all that rave worthy … Cate Blanchett is the exception … well, aside from her "old lady voice" … I couldn't understand what she was saying … *sigh*

Usually I agree with you on most celebs, but I don't understand why you hate on Jen. She seems to be one of the few celebs who after all this fame and fortune are still sweet and down to earth. I think she's amazing, and even though I like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's work in movies, I'm very happy for her and glad she got this one. I think Marley and me is a sincerely good movie, it's a cute one for christmas time and a lot of families will go see it. Thats a smart move on the productions part to have it come, I don't think its very fair to go into math and look into stats, she just won this one. Brad's movie is great, amazing story, but maybe not the best time to come out.

Seriously though, even tho it looks like Aniston had more screen time in theaters, in larger cities Pitt's movie got the larger auditoriums and more screens per venue. I saw Marley and Me yesterday and absolutely loved it. I saw Benjamin Buttons today and it was alright, but aniston's movie is more memorable. At both theaters I went to, Pitt's movie had 2 screens and Aniston had one.
Well Jen's movie is on almost 4 thousand screens and has a short running time, Brads movie is on less than 3 thousand screens and has an almost 3 hour runnng time those less showings per day per screen . . . Button will still come out ahead, It was an amazing film and the story it told was priceless, I have not seen her film yet, but I don't like seeing a film about a dogs death which is the outcome and I feel that is a way of jerking the emotion out but Button emotions come from such an honest place that we all go through, it's the better film I am certain,

I LOVED Marley and Me the movie AND the book. Both really really good. The movie isn't exaclty the same, but no movie is. I thought Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson did a great job.
