I agree with some of the others that appearance counts. In politics, in life too sometimes. Her folks were attractive. Yet while she'll never lose the ironed hair look, she's got a bump on her nose that is not attractive. And how about whitening those teeth? And losing the shyness? I was a volunteer for JFK; love the family…but — is it fair that she slides into the job? We have a rookie president coming in–do we need a rookie Senator from NY, too?
There are rumors spreading on the net that she did not like her sister-in-law and she sabotaged the plane her late brother died in.
Make sense- hit 2 birds in one stone:
1. Eliminate her sister in law (who she thought did not deserve to be a Kennedy)

It's a shame people are forcing this woman to "explain" why she thinks she should run for public office. Her entire family has been in public offices since before she was born. She isn't some rich, lazy, suburban housewife! She has been doing stuff to help people for years! She has been active in her own charities, and in the NYC public schools system and she is a lawyer. She took time to raise three kids, and wrote eight books along the way. I say F.U. to anyone who thinks she doesn't have the "credentials" or the "experience to be in politics. Run, Caroline!!! I want you to run and WIN! Quit explaining yourself to people who really don't care. They are just being evil. Screw them.
Sorry, but I live in New York, and I do not want someone to step into the senator's slot just by virtue of being a celebrity. I had enough difficulty with Hillary taking that slot a few years ago, and she is not only an attorney, but had spent her entire adult life involved in politics through and with Bill Clinton. Caroline Kennedy is a lovely woman, but she should start at a smaller city or state level position first if she really wants to to get into politics as a career.
She sure has the brains to do the job… If Hillary did it, why can't she?

A senate seat is too senior of a position to give to someone just starting out in politics. She needs to roll up her sleeves and work in the trenches for a while. Hilary did. So has almost every other senator.
Caroline does have some valid experience (fundraising for school boards), but it's not enough, IMO. Not for a senate seat. If politics was really important to her, she would have become involved in it before now. She hasn't even run to be on a school board…
Where is the media frenzy for Caroline like there was for Sarah Palin? Caroline has absolutely no political experience and came from no where to throw her hat in the political ring. There are many more candidates from NY who are better qualified to fill the Senate seat. Being rich and being a Kennedy does not make one qualified. This is typical politics as usual.

I am sick and tired of Kennedys opening their mouths and getting what they want. Caroline Kennedy's qualifications for NY senator: she is a woman, her marriage is in the trash (so far matches Hillary), Has a college education, Has never worked a damn day in her life. Does volunteer work for education and politics. MAYBE a hour or two a week.(hope it doesn't exhaust her silver spoon butt). pushes everyone to go out and vote, but hasn't voted 1/3 of the time herself. Has not held ANY office herself. Likes comparing herself to her father, who was president almost 50 years ago and half the population wasn't alive or old enough to remember him. Loves pushing that kennedy name all over. Back in the day when her family was in politics, the press was quiet about alot of things, like the fact that grandpa was a bootlegger during the 20's, the men was all adulterers, used the whitehouse like a whorehouse all the while calling it camelot. NO, most of New York's representatives are democrats. Between the US representatives and State Senators, there most be someone worthy of the post. I think most of us in New York have better qualifications then her. But, Patterson sucks as governor and will probably appoint her on his way out when he does not get reelected.

No one should be appointed to this important task because of what her father did and, unfortunately, that includes Mrs Schlossberg. First, let me say that Robert Kennedy was my hero, if there is such a thing in this life. However, I have never liked the way the Kennedys refer to "President Kennedy" when speaking of their brother, uncle, father. Why doesn't Caroline refer to her father as her "dad" or her "father" instead of "President Kennedy." Also, why does she say, "I'm not saying I'm anything like him"???? He is her biological father - why wouldn't she be like him????? Why did she stay out of the public eye all these years, and then decide at the age of 51 that she wants to be Senator? This seems like a case of entitlement to me. After the Bush mess, I am tired of dynasties, and if I think a Bush dynasty is wrong, then so is a Kennedy one.
