The Future Of Cars, Pretty Fehking Cool!

On Tuesday, the Ford motor company announced that two of their new 2010 cars will feature new self-parking technology.
How is that even possible???
Well, the technology uses ultrasonic sensors on the front and rear of the vehicle, combined with electric power steering to angle and guide it into a snug parking space — all with the push of a button.
We say woo hoo to anything that will prevent dings, nicks and scratches!
For the sake of the US car industry, we hope Ford and the rest of Detroit have better innovations up their sleeve, though!

You want to revolutionize the car industry….come out with a hybrid minivan! We've been waiting for one for 5 years. Toyota has a Sienna that they have released in Japan 3 years ago, but no one has made one here!!! Who needs a self parking car? How about actually listening to what the customers want?? Maybe then you wouldn't be asking for a bailout!

Lexus has had that for several years…did you never see the commercial shown over and over and over again…with the guy in the lexus up on a cliff in greece…as the vehicle manuveurs itself onto a podium by a pool…

that capability to auto park has been existing for a while now!! I've seen this on tv a few years back, at the push of a button the car could parallel park… u just had to place the car at the position just before you go into reverse to park

It's not THAT cool, Toyota makes a Prius that can do this. Besides, our nation is in need of more fuel-efficient vehicles, not ones with fancy parking capabilities. Is Ford insinuating that human beings are utterly incapable of parking their own vehicles?

Just A GIMMICK, which is the last thing the car industry should be focusing on these days… people can park cars themselves, but we can't design our own fuel cell engines. But I can't buy one anyway since that bird stole my credit.

it's not new…to an $80,000 + car, but it is new to a somewhat less expensive vehicle. GG1000…where can you get all of that in one car? I know I got a lifetime warranty on my Dodge Ram. And, for a truck, it gets decent mileage…I'm getting 24 hwy. It has no recalls, hasn't had anything go wrong in 55,000 miles and I get a loaner when I take it in for scheduled maintainance. What more would you ask?

I have a brand new Ford crossover and two Hondas.
Mind you that Ford is a Michigan car company that is made in Michigan so it should handle great in snow. Not so much.
The Ford has gotten stuck several times in the snow, the Hondas never have once.
That is sad.
Instead of making self parking cars, how about making a car that can drive in the snow.

Are you kidding me Lexus introduced self parking technology like five years ago. Most German cars have park assist.
And don't say I can't afford German or high end Japanese. They had CM's showing the technology years ago.
Now if only Ford could be ACTUALLY useful, create a car that doesn't use gas! Or more aptly, bring it back.

There are a few cars that already have that feature…and yes, it takes about 5 minutes.
