Travolta Family Lawyer And Police Release More Information About Teen's Death

John Travolta and Kelly Preston 's 16-year old son, Jett, died Friday while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.
Their lawyer just revealed to media the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Jett apparently suffered a seizure at the family vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene.
Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and Preston. Their daughter, Ella Blue is 8-years old.
So sad.
Update: A police spokeswoman says that Jett hit his head in a bathtub and apparently that triggered the seizure.

My father died the same way…except when he was having a seizure they started to give him CPR and he suffocated on his own vomit.
The Travolta family did not assist Jett with his developmental difficulties because their religion doesn't believe in it.

It is sad cause you know he could have had those seizures controled with medication but, they chose to beleive in Scientology and Tom Cruises stupid way of thinking that drugs are bad, medicines save lives, this is a sad way for people including Trovolta to see that their way of thinking is not correct.

This is very sad. I know from personal experience, bathing is very dangerous for people with seizure discorders. It is more likely that Jett had a seizure that resulting in him hitting his head rather than the other way around. 3 million people in the world have seizure disorders, it triples the likelihood of death.
Well I am going to say what i am feeling and that is this: Atleast they don't have to deny his condition any longer. I feel that these idiots probably wanted something like this to happen so they no longer had to pretend Jett wasn't autistic. So sad so sad. I am glad Jett is in a place where he will be loved unconditionally forever. Now they really can dote on their daughter only!! A**holes!

My heart goes out to them. It's always very sad and heart breaking to lose someone who suffers seizures, be a a child/adult or pet.
I notice that when you search "Jett Travolta" here on Perez's site, there are only TWO news items in the archives and both are from today. I distinctly remember Perez commenting on Jett MANY times in the past. What's up wid'dat, Perez? I think you don't want folks to remember how you've talked about the kid. Whether he had undiagnosed or untreated autism or not, you've been mean in the past, and it feels like you're kind of trying to cover your tracks now.

While the death of young Jett is indeed a tragedy, the sad truth is this mess probably could have been prevented, had Travolta's son received the proper treatment for his illness/disease. It has been long speculated that Jett suffered from autism, but due to Travolta's choice of religion, namely "Scientology", such diseases are believed to merely be mental inflictions which can be cured through "auditing" or pseudo-counseling. Scientology condemns not only anything psychological treatment, but also any modern medical treatment as well.
We will continue to see such tragic deaths, including those of Isaac Hayes, who was undergoing a Scientology process of exercise and fasting called a "Rundown" only days after a stroke. The Church of Scientology is not only guilty of allowing their members to die, but also denying them basic human rights, blackmailing any critic of their cult activities and many more well documented crimes. Hopefully John's eyes will be opened by the tragic death of his only son and therefore escape from the cult, despite the hold they have had on him for so many years.

what's really sad is that this didn't have to happen. it has long been rumored that jett has autism, one of the major effects of which is seizures. of course, scientology doesn't allow for medication and looks down on those with disabilities. so sad this child never received the help he needed from his parents. if you look on x seventeen site, there is a recent video of jett and his family in paris and it is SO OBVIOUS that this child has a mental disability.

Wonder how much this kid's death can be attributed to Scientology? It's a well documented fact that Xenu-philes reject most conventional medicine and medications as being "harmful" etc, so it really REALLY makes you think about what sort of care Yawn Revolting and spouse gave their son and if conventional ( and proven) medical treatment might very well have prevented such a tragedy. Something to ponder and indeed, something that authorities should look into.

I think Scientology is going to take a real hit because of this. It's been known for years that he had autism and they wouldn't let him receive treatment. Seizures can be a very common side-effect of autism, like with Jenny McCarthy's child. It's just so sad, I can't get over it.

UPDATE 5:15 PM ET — Police just released more details. According to a report, Jett was last seen going into the bathroom at their private suite at the Old Bahama Bay Resort sometime yesterday. The body was discovered by the caretaker, Jeff Michael Kathrein (pictured bottom right with Travolta in 2006), at 10:00 AM today. The report says Jett suffered from seizures.

A child prone to seizures and no one is checking on him periodically to see if he is okay? He was last seen 'sometime' the day before and found at 10am the next day? WTF?!
Um my brother suffers from seizures and they are not deadly, it's the hit on the head that is deadly. So that's probably what he died from, unless he had the seizure under water. There are several epileptics, you just have to be careful about falling and hurting yourself, because you could injure yourself badly. You can't be left alone. If he had a seizure that lasted 10 minutes then I can see the danger. My brother's seizures only last for 1 minute, he has medicine that works to control them, but the biggest danger like I said is the falling and injuring yourself part that comes with the seizure.
if they ignore there son's illness because of their religion that is so sad, and what is this scientology thing anyway? we all see tom cruise acting like an idiot and now will smith is into it as well. this is so sad none the less. A 16-year old male needs a caretaker? Since when? This is a catastrophic occurrence and is devastating for the Travolta family, but it's even more tragic if it could have been avoided with the proper treatment/medicine.

My heart goes out to the Travolta's, a few years ago I was in Cancun and John and his family were staying at the same hotel. I recall when John was in a restaurant he was so warm and nice to everyone, he always had a big smile on his face and was kind to everyone. I never forgot this and thought it was remarkable for a big star to be so humble and nice.

I've always liked John Travolta and Kelly Preston - they seem like very thoughtful and emotional people. I can only imagine their pain. I just hopped online and was shocked to read about their sons death on CNN.com. I feel awful for them.

I don't believe adults have the right to inflict dangerous "Religious" beliefs on minors. Children should be able to have access to medical care despite their parents beliefs. When kids turn 18 they can decide for themselves. And $cientology is not a religion. I bet that kid was not receiving proper care…just guessing.
I didn't read the other comments, so I don't know if this was already mentioned. But I just read on Yahoo news, that Jett was last seen going into the bathroom on THURSDAY. Yet he was found late FRIDAY morning by a caretaker. WTF?? If this is true, why wasn't anyone concerned where he was all night? Did no one bother to check on him? I do feel bad for the family, but that just sounds weird to me. To have a son with known disabilities, and not bother to see what he's up to for that many hours, is just plain negligent (on the responsible party's end)!
