Even Medication Didn't Help Jett In The End

As we mentioned yesterday, more details about the tragic death of John Travolta's 16-year-old son, Jett, have been released.
According to the Travolta family, Jett's seizures were "frequent and extremely serious." John's attorneys added that "each seizure was like a death," with Jett often losing consciousness and even convulsing.
At times he'd average a seizure once every four days, until he started to take anti-seizure medication.
Travolta's lawyers, claim that Jett had been taking a drug called Depakote, which is a strong anti-seizure medication, denying the rumors that John's Scientology beliefs prevented him from medicating his son.
The attorneys say the drug worked and reduced the number of attacks to once every three weeks. However, they add that after "several years" of Jett taking the medication, it eventually lost its effectiveness and he went back to having a seizure every week.
So after consulting with neurosurgeons they stopped administrating the medication.
Tough times for John and his family.

MORE BULLSHIT FROM THE REVOLTA CAMP!!!
.
Rest in piece, darling Jett.
No offence but I call buuuuullllshit! I've epilepsy and if my medication ever stopped havin effect the last thing my doctor would do is to tell me not to take anything. I'd have to try other medications till I found one that fuckin worked. So everyone to their own, but it would be so fuckin wrong just to stop takin any medication all together……
Read this already…… Either way it's sad to hear.
i read somewhere that if left untreated autism can cause seizures
FUCK YOU PEREZ! I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO STAY LOGGED ON ALL DAY!!!!
When it is your time to go, no amount of drugs can keep you from your maker! RIP Jett!!
As a mother of a daughter with epilepsy, this is a devastating loss. I understand why he was taken off meds, my lil one has tried EVERY medication available to her with no success. This is such a tragedy and I hope this brings more attention to epilepsy. The Travolta family are in my prayers.
Holy shit Mario….Stop posting about this family! Leave them alone. I don't care if their "religion" was responsible right now. A boy is dead. Have some fucking respect. It's none of our fucking business how they handled his disabilities! What, we no longer live in a fucking democracy? For fuck's sake…..
HEY LG!!!!!!!
hasn't this been posted already?
Re: _Alice_ – WHAT'S UP SWEETY!!!
This poor family. Maybe all the assholes will shut the f up now that they confirmed he was getting proper care!
Re: LaDiva welcomes 2009…. – HOW WAS YOUR HOLIDAYS!!!!
still, rest in piece!
Re: Cristina mmmmmmmm – Christina there is such thing as intractible epilepsy which my son has that never can be controlled on meds. MY son is on 4 drugs right now trying to stop his every other day seizures. He may never have control AND if he shows signs of liver failure (like Jett did) He will have to stop meds. So please ….stop spreading the ignorance.
Re: fLORIda – Florida we are in the same boat (((hugs)))) It is a parents biggest fear what happened to Jett.
Being a woman with epilepsy, with a husband with epilepsy and children who are prone to just passing out, this isn't shocking. Epileptic drugs are VERY hard on the body. They will destroy your liver and most neurologists seem to strongly disagree with each other over which drugs work for who. If you've never taken an epileptic drug, you have no idea. Tegretol almost killed me. It caused my body to start shutting down and I developed a very bad rash. Eventually my throat started to close up and I was in the ER. These doctors don't know enough about Epilepsy, so before you all condemn them and decide it had anything to do with Scientology, you should definitely do some more research on Epilepsy. No, stopping your medication is not what should be done, but we won't know until after the autopsy if that happened.
I think I have already read ENOUGH about this story….
BOO!
This is a GOSSIP column! It is supposed to be light and harmless! Please leave the Travolta family alone!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anti-seizure meds don't always work. Please let the Travoltas grieve in private, and Jett rest in peace!!!
ALL FLUFF.
Can we say cover up to save the Travolta's asses and so Scientology beliefs don't get put on blast???
RIP Jett.
:(
MARIO STOP POSTING THE SAME STORY OVER AND OVER AGAIN! WHEN AN UPDATE BECOMES AVAILABLE THEN POST IT!
Re: LettyB – Hey, where have you been?
Re: LettyB – It was good. My man proposed on 1/1/09…
RIP
Either way it is sad the loss of a child is devastating, my heart goes out to John and Kelly may your God be with you and give you the strength you need to make this easier although nothing can make anything better right now, you still have a beautiful daughter. RIP Jett
I have epilepsy and have to take to antiseizure medications. But, I still have seizures at various times. Depakote is a strong medication with side effects that aren't always great. I've been administered it intravenously when I've had seizures that would not stop. If Jett was on depakote then they probably tried other drugs first. But, no matter what the true case was, it's a sad outcome for the Travolta family.
Re: Fawk u and ur issues – well said
Poor Jett. Xenu sent him to Hell. He's getting ass raped by Roger Moore now.
Its common for a epilectic drug to stop working so you switch meds. Its also common for Autistic children to have seizures. In addition often Autistic children walk on the ball of their feet (tip toes). To each their own. But my child would be following medical doctors orders not what my religion believes to be true. Obviously if this was caused by their religion they are paying a VERY high price. I know that is certainly not what they wanted. RIP Jett!
My heart breaks for the Travolta family.
Re: charmoll – OH bullshit he died from epilepsy and the complications of that. Enough with blaming their religion.
rip :/
Total BS. I know someone with epilepsy. Finding a medication that works is difficult. Once you go through FOUR different medications, without helping the seizures, THEN your epilepsy is deemed untreatable. Quitting after one medication is an absolute shame when there are so many other options out there.
This is such a sad story..RIP Jett. My daughter has a seizure disorder, and if one medicine doesn't work then you try others. I can't understand why they would stop medicating all together? Perhaps more to the story then we'll ever know..besides it really isn't any of our business. One thing I will say for myself is, no religion would EVER stop me from medically doing anything to help my daughter.
Re: LettyB – Boo back! oxox
Re: LaDiva welcomes 2009…. – Congratulations Diva! Have fun!
There are other medications for seizures. I've tried depekote and am now on trileptal and keppra. I call bullshit too
Re: Turd_Ferguson – That's fucked up, he was a 16 year old kid
Re: SWEETPIECE – Lol thanks… My man needs to know that I call the shots haha j/k.
Some kids were put on earth to teach people before they die. I just hope that Jett taught his parents many things. Nobody ever wants to lose their child, no matter how many disablilties they have.
Re: charmoll – $cientologists have groups of people whose entire work is just to respond to stories like this on threads all over the internet.
They do it to provide spin control.
In fact, $cientology actually has a Gestapo like Secret Police called OSA that does dirty work like this.
The cult predecessor to OSA was the 'Guardian's Office' which was involved in burglarizing and bugging government offices including the IRS.
The head kook of the Cult…L Ron Hubbard…had his own wife sent to prison for such offences.
A young kid is DEAD because he, apparently, was undermedicated, wrongly medicated or unmedicated.
$cientology has a long standing jihad against psychiatrists and the drugs they prescribe.
If you follow kooky space alien cult 'doctrines', your autitstic/epileptic 16 year old son may end up DEAD.
RIP Jett.
If Jett had a history os seizures, why didn't he wear a helmet? Why was he allowed to enter a room predominantly filled with hard surfaces (porcelain, marble, slate, metal fixtures etal) all alone? He was given no seizure medication and left alone to enter a bathroom. My son is autistic and has a helmet to protect his head. Scientology doesn't recognize Autism and John refused to acknowledge it else his son be labeled as a 'degraded Being'. Jett lived in the lap of luxury, but he didn't need luxury, he needed treatment.

You took this whole article, word for word from TMZ, who posted it YESTERDAY, with even the same picture, and didn't even give them credit for it. You are a major hack and so close to a lawsuit.
Re: Oswald2001 – Thanks for clarifying. I dont know anything about Scientology nor do I claim to know anything. So thanks for the info!
I just hope they did the right thing by Jett if not they are paying the ultimate price and will suffer sadly because of it.
yeah i was on that crap, not for seizures tho, mood stabilizer too, gained a@ 40 pounds from it too! there's LOTS of other meds tho he could've been put on instead!!! somethings just NOT right here!
Re: KevinK – Lots of things in the US kills kids. Gun violence, drugs, abuse, poverty, etc…..I don't agree with Scientology at all but we should try to work on the other things, don't you think?
Re: ourmiraclekids – Are you OSA? Scientologist? I think so!
El asunto es que ya no se puede hacer absolutamente nada, Jett ya murio y nada podra cambiar la situacion, buscar culpables en este momento no sirve de nada, si sus padres o la religion tuvo la culpa alla ellos…rest in peace Jett
Re: waterlily79 – I know someone who was on Depakote and she gained a lot of weight as well. It stopped working and she switched to a new drug and the wieght came right off but the drug didnt work for long. So sad!

JETT'S UNTIMELY DEMISE WAS PREDICTED TWO YEARS AGO BY A RESPONSIBLE PARENT (MEANING ONE NOT GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER) OF AN AUTISTIC CHILD!!!
.
A 2007 post on Hollywood Interrupted told of a meeting between a Florida restaurant manager named Tim Kenny, the father of an autistic child, and Travolta. Kenny is said to have asked Travolta what special treatment Jett was getting.
"I don’t think it’s a stretch to call their treatment of Jett child abuse,” Ocala, Florida restaurant manager Tim Kenny tells Hollywood, Interrupted. Kenny claims he met Travolta at his restaurant in February, and, after “comping” the movie star and his daughter a meal per restaurant policy for celebrities, he asked him, “as one autistic child’s father to another,” if he “was doing anything special in terms of therapy” for Jett. Aghast, Travolta responded, “Well, we involve him in the arts.” Then, he offered to send Kenny a book, and high-tailed it out of the restaurant.
“If I ever received a Scientology book from him [Travolta], I’d find him, and throw it back at him,” says Kenny. “Scientology is keeping him from acknowledging his son’s autism. They see it as a weakness. That’s what the space aliens are telling him I guess.”

They mention that Jett stopped taking Depakote but that doesn't mean he wasn't undergoing any kind of treatment. Not every seizure sufferer has the same root cause nor do they respond to the same treatment options.
I feel sorry for the short sad life of this kid, not John and his beard Kelly. From all accounts, they were in serious denial about his autism. Does anyone really believe he developed Kawasaki Syndrome (a rare disease most common in Japanese boys under 5) from carpet cleaner? What a sad commentary on those two and their "religion." Read the section on Kelly Preston and Jett in Artie Lange's "Too Fat to Fish." Pathetic!
Whatever the case, our prayers are needed. They are in mine and im sure they are in everyones right now.
I don't really care what caused his death.. Two parents have lost a child, and a little girl has lost her brother…that's all I see here.. I don't care what their names are, what they do for a living or how much they are worth.. They have to bury their child!!! No parent should ever have to bury their children!!
My heart aches for anyone who has to bury their child! I just can imagine, nor do I want to.
My autistic brother is on Depakote (has been for years)… as a mood stabilizer. I find it kind of odd that they are denying that he had autism/an autism spectrum disorder, and yet he was on a medication that people with these disorders sometimes take.
$cientoloy handling at it's best!!
Johne Revolta and Kelly 'Failed Mother' Preston make me sick
Re: ourmiraclekids –
(((HUGS)))
Re: Tenay1 – This is the kind of info that should not be spread on boards. Seizures can be part of the autism spectrum, but as their is no official "treatment" for autism, it is totally inaccurate to say that untreated autism can cause seizures. You can treat the various symptoms of autism, usually with limited results (unless you can effect a "miracle cure" like Jenny McCarthy, whose kid most likely doesn't have and never did have true autism), but there are no pills for autism. I don't like what Scientologists believe, but this desire to blame the Travolta's for their son's death is pretty ugly.
Re: Cristina mmmmmmmm – Right back at you. I'm calling BS on you, too. You are assuming that your experience is the standard. It sounds to me like this kid was moving into a state called status epilepticus–the brain in a constant state of seizure–and then it is very common to stop meds and try a surgical intervention instead (cutting the corpus collasum that connects the two sides of the brain). The Travolta's had consulted with a neuroSURGEON, not a neurologist, so it seems likely that this option was at least being discussed. If your seizures are controllable with meds, count yourself lucky–not everyone has the same experience and it is pretty narrow minded to assume that your experience is the standard by which all others should be judged.
Tragic anyway you look at it. I would hope that they denounce $cientology as a result, but I know this "religion" gets a grip and extorts members. Turn to God for answers.
Re: charmoll – I'm not saying that the Travoltas didn't love their son, but, he is still DEAD.
Just the same as some other supposedly 'relgious' nut not giving insulin to their diabetic kid. They may truly believe in their kooky cult 'no drugs' approach and truly BELIEVE that God (or Xenu) will come down to save him, but, the kid still ends up DEAD.
There have been plenty of cases like this.
This could easily turn out to be a case of NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE whether it is prosecuted or not.
BTW, did you know that $cientology has their own versiions of PRISON CAMPS?
I'm not kidding.

Jesus H, they just stopped looking for a medication?? Responsible parents (and neurologists) would have never given up! Good God. The more I read the more I despise these people and pity that young man.
He was under the care of doctor's. They chose not to make Jett's health issues public so no one knows what was really wrong with him. It's been reported that poor kid had liver damage because of the meds. At some point you have to weigh your options and choose the the best one even thought none of them are good. It's not easy and it's not fair. Your damned if you do and your damned if you don't! My prayers go out to the Travolta family.
Re: Mickey7 – BUT wouldnt you agree someone in this state would be wearing a helmet? Obviously you cant watch a child 24/7 even though it seemed they tried.
As a nurse in a developmental center, I work with people with seizure disorders every day. My best friend also happens to be a Pediatric Neurologist. What bothers us is that the Travolta's only mentioned Depakote. Perhaps they tried other meds. No one can say for certain, but if one of my patients had frequent seizures and was not on anti-convulsants, I damn sure would not leave him alone. He would also wear a freaking helmet. They were playing with fire. Any Physician advising them to just wean Jett off his meds should never practice medicine again. This was preventable! RIP Jett!
Re: Oswald2001 – I dont know anything about scientology but I agree with you. I have mormons in my family and I think they are a cult. LOL Its a horrible situation. I think until a child is a adult or deemed cabale of taking care of themselves parents should be forced to follow medical doctor care. I dont care what anyone says I doubt a doctor suggested the travolta's handle Jett's medical situation the way they did. As far as negligent homocide they filed charges on th father who let his kids walk in snow and died. But doubtful the travolta's will be charged
Re: Hi-G – ecellent information!
Re: charmoll – I have to disagree. You CAN watch a child 24/7. Especially with the resources they obviously have. If they were going to wean him off his meds, it was irresponsible not to protect him. If their neurologist didn't make this point to the family, he was grossly negligent.
Celebrities or not, these parents should be held to the same standard as parents of other children who die due to medical neglect. If they were Christian Scientist rather than Scientologist, I would feel no differently. Taking a child off all meds entirely when he has major seizures on a regular, chronic basis is negligence. Period. So is refusing to acknowledge or treat severe autism, which is is clear the late boy had.
I would not wish the death of a child on anyone, and I am certain his parents are suffering. I'm sure they loved him very much and did not deliberately harm him. That doesn't absolve them of culpability in his death.
This is very sad- Condolences to their family, may the poor boy rest in peace.
Re: charmoll – The Heaven's Gate cult was a space alien cult. Much like $cilentology IMO.
The people in that cult really did believe that there was a mother ship waiting for them behind the Hale-Bopp comet.
They believed so much that they willingly and happily killed themselves to go there.
I sincerely doubt that they made it.
They were adults, so, no one could really stop them.
To withhold medication and proper medical treatment from a dependent child is a different matter entirely.
Most people don't know much about $cientology. With the advent of the internet, more and more are learning, though.
It was started by a pulp science fiction writer that was quite adept at HYPNOTISM. He knew how to employ mind control via hypnotic means.
Hubbard has achieved messiah like status among his followers and there is a cult of personality built up around him.
Here is a quote attributed to Jesus H. Hubbard:
"The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion."
Re: gypsysmama – It has also been reported that his mother had him on the "Purif" rundown which uses large amounts of Niacin. Niacin in large enough amounts can also cause liver damage.
Gotta be careful with PR releases. They are often written and delivered by very skilled LIARS.
What happens in most murder trials? Even with overwhelming evidence.
The accused pleads INNOCENT.
And the accused lawyer almost always comes up with a PR spin on things that is delivered in a 'sincere' manner and with a straight face. The defendant is almost always claimed to be 'totally innocent'.
Even when he confessed to the arresting officer, his bloody fingerprints are all over the crime scene, there is video from 4 different cameras and 62 eye witnesses.
Don't believe anything John Travolta says. His whole life is a lie. Everything about him is a lie. He is a dumb high school dropout & that's why he was able to get sucked into Scientology. Anyone who is intelligent or even just with a two year college degree would see this cult for what it is. Go ahead, find a list of Scientologist followers, Wiki them and you will notice one common denominator…UNEDUCATED.
please, my brother has seizures, and ofcourse he convulses for a minute or two, and then he passes out afterwards for 15 minutes. That's how seizures go, Perez. There are so many epileptics across the country and anyone can tell you you don't die from a seizure you die from falling and injuring yourself due to the seizure or you die if you suddenly stop your seizure medicine completely and have a really long seizure that would have to last minutes. Even so you aren't supposed to unsupervised that long, and you use some muscle relaxant to bring them out of it
Why does John Travolta have a skull on his hat???
Re: janebird – I have epilipsy…I have grand mal seizures & have been on
I have epilepsy, I have grand mal seizures, I was diagnosed when I was 13. My neurologist told me I would be on my medication for the rest of my life & I've only had 2! I call total BULLSHIT that the medication stopped working so they stopped giving it to him-if he was having one every three days, there isn't a doctor in the WORLD who wouldn't try and find SOMETHING that worked for him. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that they were that cruel that they wouldn't try every medicine available until something worked! I was on 4 until Tegretol (Carbatrol) worked. He's in a better place & will be seizure free forever. God Bless Jett.
Re: leeleea – Great point! I'm an epileptic as well and I'm fortunate that the medicine I've been on since I was 9, Depakote, still works for me. I forget I have epilepsy most of the time; that's how controlled I am. My mother on the other hand had grand mal seizures as well, took Dilantin and it wasn't successful for her. She died 6 years ago after having a seizure.
Re: charmoll – LOL!
Its amazing what money can buy
Re: Mickey7 – I wondered right when I heard of Jett's death if the Travoltas had talked to his doctor about treatment by surgical intervention for their son. We were looking into that for my mother when 4 different drugs she tried didn't work for her…
You know, Depakote is also used as a mood stabilizer , particularly for people with Bipolar Disorder. I wonder if the Travolta's knew that, them being Scientologists and being against psychiatric medications and all.
Re: AMO –
I'm so sorry to hear that. That's such a terrible loss. I'm sure you can see why it's frustrating to see people have such misconceptions about what we go through. People are saying this isn't possible but it is and a little research would prove it to them. I don't know whether or not this boy was Autistic, had Kawasaki Syndrome or was under-medicated. I don't know what they tried or if they did more than Depakote. There are so many things that factor into epilepsy. I know that every one of my doctors disagreed with the other and they had me on 4 different medications before I was tapered off of them. It teaches you to be weary of each doctors judgement and do research for yourself. A bad doctor can equal horrible problems for someone with this problem. Seizures can be completely uncontrolled with several medications. Doctors will tell you it's entirely possible to have "breakthrough" seizures while on medication. Do your research everyone.
Re: miss_bhaven – Here are some of the Security Check questions (Does YOUR church have Security Checks?) used by $cientology:
Did you come to Earth for evil purposes?
Have you ever smothered a baby?
Have you ever enslaved a population?
Have you ever destroyed a culture?
Have you ever torn out someone's tongue?
Have you ever zapped anyone?
Have you ever eaten a human body?
Have you ever made a planet, or nation, radioactive?[
And these wack jobs have 'positions' of psychiatric drugs?
::So after consulting with neurosurgeons they stopped administrating the medication.::
They actually expect us to believe this??? What doctor would stop prescribing medication to someone with severe seizures?
Crazy Scientologists, denying their child what would have saved his life. RIP, Jett. Another innocent victim of cult greed and shame.

Re: LeeCee – Re: LeeCee – Re: LeeCee – my cousin got Kawasaki Syndrome from carpet cleaner. You should not shampoo carpets before boy babies are 2. They will get Kawasaki. But you can't get epilepsy from it because it only effects your blood vessels. My cousin is not aloud to do contact sports because his heart is effected from kawasaki, he also will need a transplant in the next couple years.
