Mother charged with not dressing baby for cold
A Nova Scotia woman accused of not properly dressing her nine-month-old girl for the cold is due to appear in court next week.
Bridgewater police have charged the 26-year-old woman with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Police launched an investigation after someone reported that a woman was carrying a baby outside at around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 27.
It was –9 C at the time, and the baby wasn't dressed for the weather, police were told.
Bridgewater police said the baby wasn't responsive when officers arrived.
The little girl was treated in hospital for injuries to one hand and released to the care of her father.
The woman is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on Jan. 14.

Every pic I see of Suri she is wearing the same transparent thong g-string. What gives?
-9 degrees C = about 16 degrees F so LettyB is right, it is not as cold as we are thinking-at first I thought below zero. Regardless, a picture of Suri should not be there. When my children were under a year old, I had no problem getting the appropriate clothes on, ESPECIALLY on a 9 week old. Once my kids turned 1+ and could walk and then run and could figure snaps and zippers, things came off or never got on. The mother of the baby needs something. Suri's parents, no. Suri will not wear a coat and how far is she going will out a coat? from the stage door to the limo-20 feet at the most? not going to get hypothermia from that
Is Suri (what a name, in french it means sour ! ) having hot flashes, menopause already ? Anyway is she is really 3 she should be in bed at 7 P.M. every evening. The poor child will be a disaster as she grows older. Those parents are irresponsible.

even if you live in Canada, -9 IS cold, and if it is not to YOU, it is definitively for a baby. If you can read (which I doubt when I see the level of your language and reactions in your posts), you have seen that the baby had to be taken to hospital, so it was definitively too cold for it. I also have children, and even if they don´t want to wear a coat, they have to, of course, that´s not a discussion point, it´s a health issue! How do you educate your children in Canada??
i live in Nova Scotia and I have to say that -9c is cold…like seriously…and what need is there to take a child out in a blizzard(as we've been having) at 4.30am.

Suri is obviously running that circus. There's no way in hell that I would let a frickin toddler make the decision, on how she dresses in cold weather. It's about common sense. Children lose heat faster than adults do. That's a fact. So if she won't keep her damn coat on, they need to find something else that she WILL keep on. The child doesn't strip naked, so there are obviously some things that she'll tolerate. What about long johns? What about long sleeve dresses or shirts? A hat and mittens? A pullover sweater? If it's cute and fun, I'm sure Suri would want to wear it. That's how toddlers are. They need to stop making excuses and start taking control over that kid!
Lets see. Maybe the father was beating up the mother and child. The child was knocked unconscious so the mother grabbed her and fled the apt. Would you actually sit there and bundle up your child while your husband was beating on you and the child was unconscious? There is more to the story. This is typical of you Perez. Anybody can call NYC Dept of Social Services and file a concern. You don't have to leave a name unless you want follow up from the investigating SW. I wouldn't leave one. the paps will provide follow up. But I'll bet Suri will have a coat on after that or she won't go out. She probably doesn't want to wear a coat but she needs to wear a coat. These people need to take some advice from the Afflecks. Little Violet always looks so cosy in her jeans and trainers and is well wrapped up when it's cold. You'd think Katie would have some clothes taste being so young, and Tom has brought up two kids before this, so should know better!
I don't care if a child Suri's age didn't want to wear a coat. It would be like this– do you want to go out or stay at home - if you want to go you will do and I say and wear a coat and warm clothes, if not, have fun with the Nanny. But then I guess they would miss all of those photo ops……
