Rihanna To Cover Up For Malaysian Show

Rihanna is yielding to conservative Malaysian law and covering up for her show there in February.
According to government rules, female performers must be covered from shoulders to knees.
Malaysian tour organizers are trying to avoid the sort of protests and fines that plagued Gwen Stefani's, Avril Lavigne's, and the Pussycat Dolls' concerts in Malaysia. While Stefani made a "great sacrifice" and covered up, the Pussycat Dolls were fined $3,000 for ignoring decency laws.
A district branch of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, who called Avril's performance "too sexy" (We never thought we'd live to see the day where "sexy" and "Avril" occupied the same sentence), says that Rihanna is "sexier and more dangerous."
Sexier, yes.
Dangerous? The only thing that's dangerous about Rihanna is her fierce fashion!

i think that's classy of her to go with the laws of the country that she is performing in. she could be like PCD and just do whatever she wants and take the fine ($3000 is pocket change to them!) but she opted to be respectful….i like that.

They are way conservative over there, but to their credit the "cover up" policy is more to do with the protection of their women. The Malays are usually really nice people.
LG - I would have thought South East Asia may have been a bit of a potential holiday destination for you. The beaches of Nusa Dua in Bali, the beautiful Merlion harbour in Singapore, the pristine sands of Cosa Mui in Thailand, the spectacular Malay peninsula's. Not to mention all that lovely native meat my dear one. I thought the Carribean was becoming somewhat passe to the "in" crowds.
Meh, Christians (Catholics like me) used to be weaaaaay worse. Muslims are about 700 years behind us (in terms of the age of their religion) I think there are many progressive, but give them time and the moderate ones will be the majority. We christians were terrible a while ago, dont forget

I completely agree! I saw PCD for the first time, last night on Leno, and I was wondering what the fuss was all about, because they SUCKED! I thought the "back-up singers" would actually sing, but all they did was girate around the stage like a bunch of hookers looking for a John. it is the government's decision to ask artists to cover up, it is a matter of respect. Just because you live in a country that is predominated by people that are not of a certain religion and therefore live by different cultures. Do not insult a country if you don't really know about it. I have lived in Malaysia and America, and you know what? America has it all too, from bad to worst. So props to artists that respect their fans and the country they are preforming in to do follow their rules.
