What a painful way to die! Throwing yourself under a train really is tough. But what would have been gutsier would be if he lived long enough to deal with his own financial mess.

  6. 6

boo hoo. another rich person falling. maybe the deregulators will now figure out a way to tax the rich in order to prevent another financial crisis?

This man was personally worth 9 billion dollars. His company owed almost 7 billion dollars. Even if he paid that off with his personal finances, he'd still have 2 billion dollars. I feel very sad for this family because one of its members is now missing and their lives will never be the same, but if anyone can't live on 2 billion dollars they really need a reality check.

Perhaps the house he had for his mistress went into foreclosure?

Certainly suicide is never the answer, but first a French investment banker and now a German businessman… why is it only Europeans who are feeling any personal responsibility for the financial ruin they've brought on their clients and employees? ( in the case of Merckle 71,000 employees)
    .
US bankers/car makers/CEOs are still trying to figure out how they can secure even larger bonuses for 2009! Who cares that they've driven the US financial market and their banks/companies into the ground!
    .
And though it's US taxpayers who are bailing them out, they feel no need or responsibility to give anyone an accounting of how OUR money is being used.
    .
Banks lower our credit limits (thereby negatively effecting our GOOD credit ratings), raise our interest rates to make up the difference for their bad investments and tack on more fees! Then tell us to go away and be quiet. A little more corporate responsibility would be nice.

That's very sad and unfortunate. He should have been stronger. I feel bad for his family.

  27. 27

That is really pathetic to me, so sorry, but he could have seen his way through the whole thing, really it wasn't a reason to frigen kill himself. I just see it as someone who is so used to having everything and not being connected to reality that they are so uber rich also that as soon as there are any tough times they take the easy way out. Pretty selfish also, now he has left all of this to all of his family to deal with. NOT FAIR, at all. I doubt that they will be that affected by his financial upset but it just isn't right to dump all of that on people that didn't create any of it in the first place. He should have been a man about it and saw it through, no matter what the outcome was, now he will forever be remembered as the man who bailed out when it got too tough???!!!

  28. 28

[re=3276911 I totally agree with you!!!! U COULDN"T HAVE SAID IT BETTER!!!

  29. 29

aww thats really, really sad. ugh. hopefully this global financial crisis will get better… it's getting really sad… i really don't wanna see it get worse than it already is =(

You should know that this person, who is responsible for bringing huge amounts of work to Germany, was being ridiculed by newspapers, no on wanted to help him to keep his business running, he was forced to lay people off, he spent months asking the state and various banks for help……it's sad that all that pressure would make you take your own life……

What Perez misses to say is also that his company also was in huge debt.

Can you even imagine being made the scapegoat for something of such huge proportions? (71,000 as Rambova stated) He had a history of not being treated well by the media too.

If a depressed person faces difficulties in everyday life he/she might not react well to it, imagine facing what this man was forced to face…letting down that many people………

And btw, just imagine the company you've spent your life building being confiscated by banks…..he took a company of 70 and turned it into 71.000……..

There is more than just money behind this suicide….believe me

  31. 31

    Just like the previous Adolf!

  32. 32

well that was stupid of him
