It's Official! Taylor Lautner To Return as Jacob in New Moon
The search for the new Jacob is over.
They're sticking with the old dude!
Twilight author Stephanie Meyer just confirmed the casting news on her official website.
Stephanie posted the following note from New Moon director Chris Weitz :
"I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

I think its great. It has been rumored that he has been working out three hours a day to get his muscles in shape so he can play the role of Jacob in New Moon. And I'm happy to see that his hard work is being rewarded. And to the ones who say they screwed up the first movie, get a life, it had to be shorter because the book is extremely long, too long to fit it all into one movie. And to the ones who say they shouldn't hurry up with the movie, screw you because they have to. NEWSFLASH, VAMPIRES DON'T AGE AND THE ACTORS THEY HAVE PLAYING THEM DO!!!!!!!!!! For all of you worried that he is not going to look tall or old enough.. have you seen the curious case of Benjamin button? They made Brad Pitt look like an 80 year old man, so I am pretty sure they can make Taylor look the part. As for all you Kristen Stewart haters, I don't see what your problem is. I thought she was great; she is very pretty but in a girl nest door kind of way, she has beautiful pale skin, she is actually a great little actor and I think that Summit would have been hard pressed to find anyone better. But seriously, Nikki Reed with blonde hair was not a good choice for Rosalie. Rosalie is meant to be the most beautiful woman ever and, don't get me wrong Nikki Reed is gorgeous, but she is naturally olive and brunette and the whole pale thing didn't suit her one bit. I thought Carlisle, Alice, Emmett and Jasper were all really well cast.. Does anyone disagree? Jasper's 'in pain' face was spot on I thought. Anyway, I am glad they are keeping Taylor, congrats to him.

Personally I think Taylor could do the first part of the New Moon movie as is but they need someone who looks MUCH older and taller to do the movie after the transformation. In my opinion, Taylor Lautner wasn't the best choice from the beginning. I mean they should have picked a different actor to portray Jacob Black in Twilight. Taylor isn't a skilled and talented actor, really. I didn't like him in Twilight. But it wouldn't have made sense to change the actor for the sequel. He doesn't even look like Jacob! He isn't tall at all, and he isn't even bulky!!!!
