If you are one who is fortunate enough to believe in love, lifelong commitment and the sanctity of marriage, then I would HOPE you would take it seriously.       I do not see what "lifelong commitment" has got to do with the act of marrying. It s just an "outer" formal act, divorce rates speak for themselves (I suppose they are not lower in the U.S. than in Germany). I see no reason for getting married, marriage does NOT hinder love from dying with the years….you can be committed for life to someone you love and take on responsibility for him/her without ever having got married to him/her. On the contrary, I think the act of this legal procedure of marriage somehow seems to give a lot of couples the impression that now they no longer have to daily FIGHT and CARE for their love TO STAY! But just because you have registered or gone thru some festivity does not guarantee love will stay. So it doesn t make sense to me….
