I work for Walgreen's, they are such stable company, this is really scary.

Yea, I used to work as a beauty advisor there about a year ago. They definitly are/were a very stable company and werent bad to work for. This is too bad though.

GOOD RIDDANCE…….since there is a walgreens and CVS on EVERY corner near my residence for 30 blocks….
yeah it's their "rewiring for growth" or so they're calling it. and the managers are blaming it on people's attitude's, but what does it matter, one district basically has 500 employees so it's like they're taking out 40 walgreens out of the hundreds we have.

i live in beckley west virgina and i work at CVS, i think this is funny. especially considering there is a new walgreens that just opened in december on harper rd, and a NEW one being opened next month right beside of CVS. i kno we have no compitition to worrie about.. specially since our rite aid dont even have a full time pharmasist! but on a serious note, that is scary! and it sucks because so many people will be out of a job and will have a hard time supporting their family.
I agree with another poster, they just opened a wallgreens right next to a cvs, not everything is the freaking economy perez, stop contributing to the mass hysteria. If we want our economy to recover maybe you shouldn't keep posting negative things. Seriously you post gossip and hysteria
Walgreens has slowed production of stores believe it or not. This shouldn't effect anyone at store level, but corporate and district are going to get hit bad. Of course there will be severance packages for them. This is scary especially to us long term employees but Walgreens is a stable and smart company who's had little to no debt for several years but everyone has to make changes and sacrifices right now.
Walgreens is also laying off store level employees. don't let them fool you with that statement that its only at corporate level.

Re: Nik2007 – I work for Walgreens and just heard this news today, from another employee. They are asking district employees to step down. If not enough employees step down, they'll be forced to cut people. However, they've assured us that no store-level employees will be cut. Anyway, a few months back, Walgreens massively cut expenses for store managers. This largely meant watching how many hours you were scheduling each week. I know at our store, employees tend to work more then there scheduled hours. This is now a big no no. 15 minutes here and there adds up. Also, stores are being asked to cut hours out of there budget. For some stores, this meant getting rid of employees that weren't pulling there wait. However, most stores just cut employees hours. I know at my store it didn't really matter anyway. Most of the college kids were happy to work less hours.

Shut the hell up. Why blame Bush. Bush didn't tell the people to go build millions of Walgreens everywhere. It those people who decided to build like crazy (just like the Starbucks incident.) They are out building them selves.
