Nicole Kidman Embarrassed By Her Latest Bomb

At least she's honest!
Nicole Kidman knows she was shiteous in her latest dud, Australia.
She recently told a Sydney, Australia, radio station, "I can't look at this movie and be proud of what I've done."
Also, knowing that her countrymen weren't going to be so kind, she admits to fleeing Australia when the flick opened in the theaters, "We ran because I didn't want to read anything. I didn't want to know. I saw my sister and my family and we saw Keith's family and then we were straight on a plane."
The big-budget (estimates put it in the neighborhood of $120 million), craptastic film has only made about $47 million in the US since its December release.
Australia clocks in as Nic's 6th bomb in a row (following The Golden Compass, Margot At The Wedding, The Invasion, Fur, Bewitched).
Kidman demonstrates, again, that she's worthy of the top spot on Forbes' overpaid actors list.
Nicole is as posionous to movies as that Botox is to her face!

Margot at the Wedding may not have done well at the box office, but that movie was fantastic and Nicole's acting was first rate.

Wow, I've never even heard of Margot at the Wedding or Fur. Never really seen what the big deal with her was anyway.
The MOVIE sucked…she did not mean that she sucked….why not flush you gaycon Hugh Jackman down the crapper, too…Pigez, why not…..Is it your hetero-female hate. Yeah, that's what I thought….look at her filmography, look at it and tell me she is a failure. Well….yeah I know you are a dumdick. You also left out Happy Feet….and the fact that several films she has done (recently) were purely artistic merit and not widely released. She is a beautiful woman, one that has earned the right to pick and choose her roles….her judgement has been off on many; but, she is still great.

Her performace in "To Die For" made me a fan for life. And "THe Hours" - one of the best films ever. I would skip all of the crappy romatic psudocomedies os Kate/Drew and Anne to keep seeing Nicole.

Re: TwinSusan – You are right, her roots do look white … Or is it because the color is actually gray? She's 40+ so she is definitely in the age group where a lot more gray would show up. Genetics also has a lot to do with how soon (or how late) your hair starts to gray.
"margot at the wedding" and "fur" were both amazing films though neither did well at the box office; maybe it is that the average filmgoer's appreciation for intelligent cinema is sadly dying off.
Oh come on Perez! She 's an Oscar winning actress who hasn't done the best work lately. Give it a rest. Even Meryl Streep has a few clunkers in her closet.

does the fact that a movie doesn't earn so much in US automatically mean that it is a bad movie? come on! lhurmanns films never do good in the US, at least not until they receive awards in europe (and don't argue - lhurmann said it himself). i personally loved the movie.

I'm so happy to see that 90% percent of people's comments are in Nicole's favour. First of all, Perez, you completely twisted Nicole's quotes. According to the US Magazine story "she only went to the film's premiere to support her director. "I don't usually see my films, but because of Baz I had to see it," she said. "I saw Moulin Rouge. I've really only seen that and this in my whole career. It gets worse as I get older."
So Nicole didn”t say anything about this film directly - she just said that she's generally critical of her own performances, which is quite common for actors. Few actors watch their own films.
And it has to be said that Nicole Kidman is, perhaps, the greatest actress of our time, which is evident in the fact that she's the actress who's succeeded in dividing the mainstream audience the most - just like Elizabeth Taylor did in her day. You either love her or hate her, and that's a sign that she has something quite unique to offer. It's a shame that you're on the hate team and haven't experienced the magical world into which Nicole Kidman welcomes you in her films. There is only one Nicole Kidman.
Oh and I forgot to mention that Birthday Girl, Fur and Margot at the Wedding weren't meant as big box office films. And they were both incredible. So was To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, The Others, Dogville, The Hours AND The Golden Compass, which was a worldwide success. And Happy Feet was major hit, too. Do your research and learn some journalistic integrity.
I saw 'Australia' (finally after leaving 'Twilight' alone for a while) and loved it. Why all the hate for Nicole, Perez? She doesn't enjoy seeing herself in ANY of her films, nor does she read her reviews. She is not alone there. She did not RUN away from Australia. If you go to Boxoffice mojo.com and check out her TOTAL box office earnings, I doubt that you could call her any kind of poison. Remember that 95% of actors are out of work, or are forced to perform in game shows, reality tv, crappy ads and crappier tv and films. Sure her face is smooth and her lips are bigger these days, but really, why so much the hate???
We in Australia call it the 'Tall Poppy Syndrome', when a successful person is criticised and reminded that they aren't really all that special. Perhaps it is a leftover attitude from our convict past - to not think you are better than someone else?
Whatever, I just don't understand what it is about Nicole that really annoys so many people.
I like Nicole and think she's a fine actress. I think she's just had a little bit of bad luck with those films.
I actually liked Australia! And I thought Nicole did a wonderful job. I don't get the bad reviews.

Sorry Perezito, but I disagree. While her acting was somewhat woody and contrived, I didn't think she was that bad. And what can I say about Hugh Jackman? Yes, the movie was too long, but I've seen worse ones this year! No seas tan malo chico!

Margot At The Wedding is actually a fucking fantastic film. The problem is it's to narrow for the general audience…….
Here in europe several critics have included it on their 5 best movies of 2008.
And also, many brilliant actresses have been box office "poison" - both Ingrid Bergman and Katherine Hepburn. Not saying that Kidman is as good as them, just that some people aren't as appreciated when they're working as they are now.

i actually thought it was amazing, one of the best movies of all time and she was fabulous. you could hardly call it a dud, it was the highest movie grossing ever in australia, and it did pretty well in america. thats not even including foreign nations.
i also think all of her other previous movies were very good. she is an excellent actress

australia was a good movie… maybe some people didnt understand it , and some refused to see it purely based on its name…. however as much as i loved australia and raved about it to everyone, nicole kidman is starting to irritate me.. she is criticising sydney and australia constantly… saying the paparazzi in australia is soo bad , saying she fled because she was scared of australias reviews of australia. well she isnt doing any favors for herself. stop being to horrid about your hometown.. its getting annoying , seeing as alot of us, once considered you a great AUSTRALIAN actress… it just seems u dont really wanna be australian.
